Chapter 260: Chapter 260: Major Discovery

After opening the door, Xu Yi grabbed the skin at the neck of the Giant Wolf and dragged it directly into the first floor.

Lu Ke also ran down. She squatted in front of the Giant Wolf, surprised that it was beaten by Xu Yi to the point where it couldn’t even stand up.

"Xu Yi, do you think we should pull out its teeth?" Lu Ke asked, feeling that without teeth, the Giant Wolf should not pose any threat to them.

"No need, the teeth should stay. There’s no point in removing them. You make a rope harness for it, and then go to sleep. I’ll come when I’m done." Xu Yi rejected Lu Ke’s suggestion, knowing that a toothless Giant Wolf was harmless. It wasn’t a leopard that could use its claws to attack or strangle.

"Okay." Lu Ke nodded, immediately went to fetch a rope to tie a harness. Xu Yi had already taught her the technique, so in a few minutes, the Giant Wolf had a rope harness on it.

"Be good at night, and train well with me tomorrow, or I’ll cut open your belly with a knife." Saying this, Lu Ke patted the Giant Wolf’s head, and then went to sleep.

Xu Yi spent half an hour making a muzzle to completely cover the mouth of the Giant Wolf.

Looking at the Giant Wolf with the muzzle, Xu Yi thought it looked a lot like a husky, looking at him pitifully.

Da Bai seemed quite afraid of the Giant Wolf and shrank into the corner.

After Xu Yi closed the door, he went upstairs to sleep.

A good night’s sleep, and it was already the next morning.

"System, clock in."

After successfully clocking in for 74 days, Xu Yi sat up.

"Xu Yi, you’re awake. It’s raining today, so it looks like we’ll have to stay home." Lu Ke added some firewood to the fire.

"Raining again?" Xu Yi removed the fur coat from his body and got out of bed.

Then he saw Lu Ke sewing fur, apparently making a coat for him.

"It’s raining quite heavily, hopefully, it won’t last too long." Xu Yi stretched, then exercised a bit in the hallway. After all, the hallway was covered with bark and would not get rained on.

The two reindeer huddled together because their pen’s roof had not been covered with bark yet, so they were getting rained on.

"I wonder if the clay kiln will get soaked and fall apart." Xu Yi glanced over, there was already some water accumulating, and if the rain continued, it would be quickly submerged.

Even though he was prepared for it to be used only once, he still hoped it could be sturdier and used a few more times.

"How’s the Giant Wolf?" Xu Yi asked, since he hadn’t been downstairs yet, while Lu Ke had already gone down and milked some milk.

"It’s a bit restless, but its mouth is muzzled, so it can’t do much. I gave it a few punches." Lu Ke said, feeling the muzzled Giant Wolf was much cuter and easy to handle.

"Seems to be recovering well." Xu Yi chuckled, then put on a hat and went downstairs to wash his face and brush his teeth.

The Giant Wolf was tied in the corner, lying on the ground.

Seeing Xu Yi come down, it stood up and let out some angry growls.

It still remembered Xu Yi beating it, feeling a strong urge to bite him.

However, Xu Yi ignored it and went about washing his face and brushing his teeth.

After finishing up, Xu Yi went back upstairs.

Lu Ke chopped some mangoes into the fresh milk, creating a delicious mango milk.

After breakfast, Xu Yi went downstairs.

The Giant Wolf attempted to pounce but was immediately punched by Xu Yi and shrank back into the corner.

Since going out wasn’t an option, they had to find something to do.

So, Xu Yi planned to use the leftover bamboo strips to continue weaving a bamboo basket. After all, it wasn’t convenient to go out when it rained. Anyway, they had enough jerky now and didn’t need to hunt to sustain themselves.

Lu Ke was upstairs sewing the fur coat, while Xu Yi was downstairs weaving a bamboo basket, creating a cozy scene.

"Xu Yi, the coat is done. Come try it on." Lu Ke called from downstairs, interrupting Xu Yi who was weaving.

"Alright." Xu Yi put down his work, took the coat Lu Ke handed him, and put it on.

"Not bad, it fits well." Xu Yi said with satisfaction. With this coat, he wouldn’t have to worry about the cold.

"That’s good, I was worried it might be a bit small." Lu Ke said happily, as they had achieved another survival advantage.

After trying it on, Xu Yi took it off and handed it back to Lu Ke since his bamboo basket wasn’t finished yet.

"I’ll continue making blankets, so we’ll have a mattress at night." Lu Ke said, then went upstairs to continue sewing up the leftover fur.

Fortunately, the rain didn’t last long, stopping around two in the afternoon.

There was some water accumulation in the forest, but it didn’t hinder them from going out, so Xu Yi and Lu Ke went out.

As usual, they checked the traps, but no animals were caught again.

Then, Xu Yi took down all the snare loops, intending to relocate and reset them. It seemed unlikely to catch animals here anymore.

The two carried the snares in a new direction, looking for a suitable spot to set traps.

The two walked quietly in the forest, only occasionally hearing the sounds of birds.

Overall, the jungle was quite tranquil.

But after walking a bit, Xu Yi suddenly broke the silence.

"Potatoes, look, there are potatoes over there." Saying this, Xu Yi rushed over.

On closer inspection, Xu Yi was even more sure that this small patch of plants was indeed potatoes, growing vigorously.

Taking an Engineer Shovel from the basket, Xu Yi immediately started digging.

"What huge potatoes!" Lu Ke noticed a potato even bigger than her fist and longer than her hand, feeling that three or four of them weighed about a pound.

"The soil here is fertile, so the potatoes are big. We’ve hit the jackpot." Xu Yi continued to dig down, discovering a potato plant yielding eight similarly sized potatoes.

So, Xu Yi dug while Lu Ke packed them into the basket.

Soon, both baskets were full of potatoes.

So, the two carried them back to the camp and then made another trip.

On the second trip, Xu Yi also brought two bamboo baskets, almost filling them up as well.

In total, they harvested five to six hundred pounds of potatoes, enough to make Xu Yi grin from ear to ear.

Given their large appetite now, needing to eat three pounds per meal to feel full, this amount of potatoes was enough to last them a hundred days.

With such a large stock of provisions, Xu Yi and Lu Ke wouldn’t have to eat meat all day.

Combining potatoes and meat, they could eat for at least two to three hundred days.

With that much time not worrying about food, Xu Yi felt they could start building the city walls tomorrow.
