Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 165: Tense Moment
Lu Ke immediately reached out to Xu Yi, who quickly grabbed hold and climbed into the cave.
The speed was incredibly fast, leaving the viewers in shock.
Naturally, they heard that loud roar, especially those wearing headphones, who got quite a fright.
So, many were worried about Xu Yi and Lu Ke.
After Xu Yi reached the cave, he quickly grabbed his spear, ready to fight for his life against any sudden beast attack.
Lu Ke also held onto her spear, her body tensed, staring at the cave entrance, waiting for the beast to appear.
Roars continued to echo, it was clearly two different beasts making the noise.
Xu Yi and Lu Ke exchanged a glance, then Xu Yi pointed to the entrance, slowly moving toward it.
Then, Xu Yi witnessed an indescribable scene.
The two beasts were mating on the path.
This left Xu Yi quite frustrated, can’t they do it quietly instead of making such terrifying noises?
Don’t they realize they could scare someone to death?
Lu Ke crept up to the entrance and saw the two beasts.
Her face flushed red upon seeing them and she retreated.
She finally saw the kind of beasts they were, understanding why Xu Yi was so worried.
The beasts, as tall as buffaloes, were indeed fearsome.
Worried about being discovered, the two retreated into the depths of the cave.
Picking a fight now wasn’t wise, besides the two, there were four more animals around.
If discovered, fighting back would present another scenario.
Leaning against the wall, Xu Yi and Lu Ke were less tense than when they first heard the roar.
Neither spoke; they just watched the entrance.
Outside, the roars continued to rise and fall.
By evening, it began to rain heavily outside.
"It’s raining, we should be safe," Xu Yi whispered, looking at the heavy rain outside.
"Yes, our scent should be masked now," Lu Ke whispered back, as darkness settled in.
Xu Yi nodded and moved towards the entrance.
The roars outside had been quiet for more than half an hour, their fight presumably over.
Peeking towards the path from the cave entrance, Xu Yi saw neither of the beasts anymore.
He sighed in relief and set down his spear.
Seeing Xu Yi’s actions, Lu Ke immediately guessed the beasts had left. She also set down her spear and walked to the entrance.
"Shall we light a fire tonight?" Lu Ke asked Xu Yi, not very loudly.
"It’s starting to feel cold; let’s light one. I’ll bring up a few bundles of firewood." With that, Xu Yi moved the ladder and brought up some bundles of firewood.
A few minutes later, light glimmered in the dark cave.
The rain outside began pouring heavily, like beans falling.
Meanwhile, a bonfire was lit at Xu Yi and Lu Ke’s camp.
"Sis, the fire-starting tool Xu Yi and Lu Ke made works so well. Is it the type you mentioned, like the ones the Eloquie Tribe uses?" Wang Jin asked Lu Yao, holding the tool Xu Yi and Lu Ke had made.
Lu Yao nodded; she had also made a fire bow, though simpler than Xu Yi’s, and thus less efficient.
"They didn’t come back yesterday, wonder what happened to them." As she added more wood to the fire, Lu Yao spoke.
If it hadn’t been for the heavy rain, she wouldn’t have brought Wang Jin to Xu Yi’s camp.
Unexpectedly, they found Xu Yi and Lu Ke were not in their camp.
"Anyway, they haven’t been eliminated nor have they quit. They’re probably sheltering from the rain somewhere in the jungle." Wang Jin wasn’t too worried about Xu Yi and Lu Ke’s safety.
After all, both she and Lu Yao had slept in the jungle before. Spending the night out wasn’t uncommon for Xu Yi and Lu Ke.
Besides, Xu Yi scoring 100 points with Lu Ke in such a short time showed their skills.
"I’ll handle the fox, and you can cook the rabbit," Lu Yao told Wang Jin, dragging the two foxes to the water to deal with them.
A fox worth three points wasn’t much, but it was income. So, Lu Yao was quite pleased.
Wang Jin took out the leftover rabbit meat and her steel pot to start cooking.
"There’s a stove over there, let’s cook it there," Lu Yao noted in the firelight and told Wang Jin.
"Xu Yi and Lu Ke sure know how to live well. They even have a stove and oil lamp in their room," Wang Jin remarked enviously as she approached the stove.
"Indeed, their camp is more comfortable than ours," Lu Yao admitted, recognizing Xu Yi and Lu Ke’s camp setup was excellent.
"We should learn from them. With over 400 days remaining, we can improve our camp and facilities," Wang Jin thought Xu Yi’s camp was a model they could replicate.
Lu Yao nodded, agreeing with Wang Jin’s sensible suggestion.
They could use the nighttime to improve their camp.
Meanwhile, Wang Jin set the earthen stove alight.
After adding some firewood, Lu Ke touched her stomach.
Feeling a bit uneasy, she stood up.
Intending to step outside, she put on her hat and headed out of the camp.
Just as she was about to leave, she noticed a faint glow, resembling a small room, in the camp’s left corner.
"Could it be Xu Yi and Lu Ke’s bathroom?" Wang Jin wondered aloud and walked towards it.
Pushing aside the curtain, she was amazed.
She saw a squat toilet.
"Oh my gosh, Xu Yi and Lu Ke are incredible. They even built this, a squat toilet! Unbelievable," Wang Jin was at a loss for words.
A modern toilet appearing in the wilderness was indeed astonishing!
After using the toilet, Wang Jin quickly ran to Lu Yao to talk about it.
When Lu Yao discovered it, she too was stunned, quickly going to take a look herself.
"I don’t know how to describe Xu Yi and Lu Ke; are they here on vacation?" Lu Yao felt a little envious; compared to Xu Yi and Lu Ke, her and Wang Jin’s living standards felt quite low.
"The key is they’re so skilled, their stored food is several times ours. Compared to them, I feel like I’m just here as a tag-along," Wang Jin felt utterly outclassed by Xu Yi and Lu Ke.
