Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 145: Staying Overnight
Fortunately, after draining the blood and sealing the plastic bag, no other animals appeared.
The leopard was completely dead, posing no threat.
Xu Yi pulled out the two wooden arrows from the leopard and checked the arrowheads.
One of the arrowheads was a bit dull, while the other remained sharp.
Putting away the wooden arrows, Xu Yi hoisted the leopard onto his shoulder.
A leopard, 7 points, which was less than Xu Yi had expected.
Now, Xu Yi had 15 points, still 85 points short of a hundred. The difficulty was evident.
Carrying the leopard, Xu Yi retraced his steps back.
"Hmph! Sis, the person who took our leopard is back," Wang Jin glared at Xu Yi as soon as she saw him. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Xu Yi came over, glanced at Wang Jin and Lu Yao, and then nodded.
It seemed that neither of them had any problems.
However, it was getting dark.
Why were they still here and not heading back?
With a quick glance, Xu Yi noticed signs that they had made a fire.
Judging by the situation, they didn’t plan to rush back to camp.
Staying here overnight?
That would certainly increase the risk!
Even though he had shot the leopard, who knew if there were other leopards in this jungle?
If not leopards, there were still wolves, Bone Wolves, and Steel-Clawed Earth Wolves!
But if they didn’t stay overnight here, making it back to camp was impossible.
In any case, Lu Yao was injured, and traveling back at night was equally dangerous.
At least they had a hammock, so they could sleep up high.
Even if the two took turns keeping watch, they could still get enough rest.
Invite them to stay at his camp?
That would count as mutual assistance, right? There’s no loophole in that.
Even if it was justified as a transaction, it probably wouldn’t work.
If it wasn’t deemed mutual assistance, they’d most likely be eliminated.
Xu Yi didn’t mind being a nice guy, but he wasn’t about to compromise his own interests.
So, after nodding to the two of them, Xu Yi headed straight for his camp.
"Sis, Xu Yi already killed the leopard and took it; what should we do now?" Wang Jin asked as she glanced at her blood-covered hands.
They hadn’t left because they were worried about Xu Yi’s situation.
Now that Xu Yi was safe and had killed the leopard and brought it back, they didn’t need to worry about him.
"Let’s stay near their camp, and head back when daylight comes," Lu Yao figured that staying near Xu Yi’s camp might be safer. At least if animals attacked, Xu Yi would have time to react.
Xu Yi had killed the leopard and saved her without violating the rules set by the organizers, indicating he could help her by taking the prey. Staying near his camp, he could help her in the same way.
Her right shoulder still hurt a little, and her strength was somewhat diminished. She was worried a single animal attack would be too much for Wang Jin to handle alone.
"Alright, let’s leave the wild boar’s intestines, stomach, and lungs. We can have a meal with the pork heart and kidneys tonight, and smoke the rest into strips tonight," Wang Jin suggested, as she was responsible for processing today’s wild boar.
"Alright, those are too difficult to deal with. Let’s not keep them," Lu Yao agreed, knowing it would take a long time to slice the boar meat into strips for smoking.
So Wang Jin packed the pork heart and kidneys into her basket, grabbed one of the wild boar’s legs, and started dragging it forward.
Lu Yao initially wanted to help, but Wang Jin stopped her.
"Sis, let me try. I can handle this, it’s just over a hundred pounds. I got this."
Lu Yao hesitated but then nodded.
She knew Wang Jin was looking out for her shoulder.
Under Lu Yao’s gaze, Wang Jin directly dragged the wild boar forward. It seemed strenuous, but she was likely to complete the task.
This somewhat surprised Lu Yao.
She increasingly felt that this planet wasn’t simple, considering delicate Wang Jin had such strength.
The wild boar’s weight was probably around 200 pounds. Yet Wang Jin could drag it along.
Meanwhile, as Wang Jin and Lu Yao moved towards Xu Yi’s camp, Xu Yi had already returned to his camp carrying the leopard.
The camp’s door was open, smoke rising inside. Obviously, Lu Ke was preparing dinner.
"Lu Ke, I’m back," Xu Yi called, entering the courtyard.
"A leopard!" Lu Ke exclaimed in surprise upon seeing Xu Yi put the leopard down, then continued, "You, you really killed it. Didn’t they, uh, didn’t they blame you for taking their leopard?"
Lu Ke caught herself, having initially wanted to ask about Wang Jin and Lu Yao’s condition.
"A bit upset, but they seemed helpless," Xu Yi grinned, adding, "I’ll go get the bamboo, then come back to deal with the leopard."
"Alright," Lu Ke breathed a sigh of relief. Xu Yi’s words indicated that Wang Jin and Lu Yao were fine. She liked Wang Jin and Lu Yao and didn’t want them eliminated so soon.
After Xu Yi went out, Lu Ke knelt down and petted the leopard’s fur.
"So soft," Lu Ke murmured, then glanced towards the doorway.
She had not expected Xu Yi to be so capable, killing the leopard.
In reality, if the leopard hadn’t been attacking Lu Yao, giving Xu Yi the chance, killing it would have been difficult.
His shot was from a close distance and hit a vital area.
Otherwise, it would not have been so easy to take it down.
After about ten minutes, Xu Yi returned carrying bamboo.
On the way, he had seen Wang Jin and Lu Yao. However, he didn’t greet them.
At this point, it was best to avoid unnecessary interactions.
He guessed that many viewers knew he had exploited a loophole.
Perhaps, the organizers knew as well.
Indeed, the ’Observer’ understood the implications of Xu Yi’s actions and reported them to the higher-ups.
However, his superiors didn’t find Xu Yi’s actions violated the relevant prohibitions.
As for exploiting loopholes, they weren’t concerned. Xu Yi wasn’t blatant about it. Plus, he did indeed claim the leopard.
The main concern was whether the show remained exciting.
Since the higher-ups weren’t planning to address Xu Yi and Lu Ke’s situation, the ’Observer’ naturally kept silent. He also understood the standards for conduct.
After all, it was his first time acting as an Observer.
None of the contestants knew that there was a spacecraft from an advanced civilization orbiting their planet, closely observing their actions.
