Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Silly Roe Deer

After the designated time, Lu Ke went to take a bath.

Yun Qing and Su Yan were stunned when they saw this; they never expected that Lu Ke and Xu Yi would actually make a bathroom.

Although they couldn’t see the situation inside the bathroom, they could see there was a glow of fire inside.

"Xu Yi and Lu Ke are amazing! Even a bathroom— I wonder if there’s a toilet in there?" Yun Qing felt that she was totally shown up by Xu Yi and Lu Ke.

Without a comparison, there’s no harm.

Both she and Su Yan would only wipe their bodies every two or three days or wash up at the lakeside during the afternoons. They never thought of creating a bathroom.

After all, time was quite limited; it’s only been 27 days.

"Before coming here, I thought I was quite capable, but as it turns out, it was just sheer luck," Su Yan’s face was burning.

Seeing Xu Yi going to rest, both she and Yun Qing decided to go to sleep as well.

The next day, Su Yan and Yun Qing were taken to do some tests.

The tests mainly focused on strength and speed. After finishing, they were taken to the community.

The staff assigned them a two-person room and two electronic devices.

Additionally, the staff informed them about the locations of cameras in the community and reminded them to mind their behavior.

This living community included a variety of things, all free of charge. They could use whatever they wanted and take whatever they needed from the supermarket.

If they wanted to contact their families, they had to use special telephones installed for that purpose.

Their electronic devices could only be used to watch broadcasts, making this community relatively closed.

They would only gain their freedom to leave after the 500-day challenge was completed.

Su Yan and Yun Qing didn’t mind staying there for such a long time. After all, there was a chance to return to that planet. It would be better to use the time here to improve their physical fitness.

Everyone else was busy with this task.

So, once settled in, Su Yan and Yun Qing went to the supermarket to get some notebooks and pens to record Lu Ke’s food and daily life.

Today, Xu Yi and Lu Ke did not go out.

With the limited supply of hemp rope, they spent the whole morning making it.

It wasn’t until after one in the afternoon that the two of them left the house. However, they didn’t go too far.

They just set up two traps in the nearby woods.

Currently, they hadn’t set any bait.

The rabbits and wild chickens they were raising were too small to be used as bait.

To set bait, they would need to go hunting.

"Let’s go and collect some palm leaves, then we’ll go hunting tomorrow," Xu Yi mentioned to Lu Ke after setting the traps. It was still early, and they could gather some palm leaves. Combined with yesterday’s haul, it would be enough to create a palm mat.

Lu Ke nodded and followed Xu Yi towards the beach.

An hour later, they arrived at a small grove of palm trees.

These palm trees hadn’t flowered yet; otherwise, they would have an extra vegetable.

After nearly two hours of hard work, both of their baskets were filled with bundles of palm leaves.

"Sister Yan, are those palm leaves the kind used to make rain capes?" Yun Qing lay on the bed, idly swinging her legs while popping grapes into her mouth, and asked.

Su Yan was sitting at the nearby table, writing something down.

"Yes, that’s right. But since their clothes are already waterproof, there isn’t really a need for those, right?" Su Yan puzzled aloud.

Unfortunately, their electronic devices could only view broadcasts, not allow comments. Otherwise, they could ask the audience.

"Lu Ke is pretty strong, huh? A full load of palm leaves isn’t light, but she carried it with ease," Yun Qing remarked as she flipped over and sat up, picking up the tablet from the bed.

Although they had only been watching for half a day, it was clear that Xu Yi and Lu Ke were very familiar with the area around their camp. This was something she and Su Yan couldn’t manage.

On a few excursions, they nearly got lost.

"It shouldn’t be light; she definitely couldn’t have carried it before. Plus, it takes at least an hour to get back to camp. Since Xu Yi didn’t help, it means Lu Ke could manage on her own," Su Yan said excitedly, because the stronger Lu Ke was, the more it indicated that her terminal illness had been cured.

Just as Su Yan guessed, Lu Ke carried the basket back by herself, and even after an hour, both of them kept a brisk pace. They only stopped briefly to drink water, without any other pauses.

After returning, they even went to check the two traps.

"Xu Yi, is that a deer?" Lu Ke asked excitedly when she saw an animal caught in the second trap.

The trap was set just that afternoon, and now they already had a catch.

"Sort of, it’s a roe deer," Xu Yi replied, then continued, "Hand me your basket; I’ll take it back and bring a clay basin for collecting blood."

"A roe deer, you mean one of those silly ones?" Lu Ke couldn’t help but laugh. She’d heard the name before but had never eaten its meat.

People always said it tasted good.

"Yes, but it should be living in the north and not here," Xu Yi said, taking Lu Ke’s basket and heading back to camp.

Lu Ke didn’t get too close but circled around the roe deer.

It was still alive, which was why Xu Yi went back for a clay basin to collect the blood.

In less than five minutes, Xu Yi returned with a clay basin, which also held some salt.

After handing the basin to Lu Ke, Xu Yi drew his dagger and swiftly plunged it into the roe deer’s neck.

"Xu Yi, how about hot pot tonight? I think it’d be great," Lu Ke suggested, looking at the blood in the basin.

"Sounds good, roe deer blood, heart, liver, kidneys, meat slices, all quite rich; let’s do it," Xu Yi grinned, delighted. Lu Ke’s ceramic hot pot would finally come in handy.

"Even the intestines and stomach are good; we shouldn’t miss out on any delicious part," Lu Ke said, swallowing a bit eagerly.

After draining the blood, Xu Yi set the roe deer down and reset the snare trap.

Once everything was set, Xu Yi carried the roe deer back to camp.

Upon returning, they immediately began to butcher the roe deer.

First, Xu Yi opened up the roe deer’s belly, removing the organs for Lu Ke to handle.

Then Xu Yi skinned the roe deer and promptly secured the hide with a tripod.

Following that, Xu Yi started dismembering the roe deer’s body.

He chopped off the two front legs, setting them aside to use as bait to lure leopards.
