It had been a long day for Shen Yi and Lu Xinyi since today would be the day that the twins will arrive at their home. They spent their morning and midday cleaning and preparing their home, making sure to remove any sharps objects that could hurt the children.

They also made a quick shopping to decorate the spare room next to his study room and away from their own room. They didn’t want the children to hear their nightly activities anyway.

After their short drive, Shen Yi came to a stop in front of their house and gazed up at it for a few moments. It was now the house he shared with his wife and it was a bizarre thought. He supposed he didn’t get used of the idea that he will one day get married and share a home with a woman.

Turning in his seat, Shen Yi wasn’t surprised to find Lu Xinyi sleeping peacefully. For a moment, he hesitated to wake her up. She looked so lovely and beautiful as she slept but then he decided it would be best to wake her up and let her sleep early tonight.

“Xinyi, wake up,” He reached across the space between them to shake her shoulder lightly. “We’re home.”

Lu Xinyi creased her forehead and muttered something incomprehensible before turning her head away from her husband. Sighing to himself, Shen Yi realized waking her up wouldn’t be easy at it seemed.

With some difficulty, he managed to lift her out of the car and was glad that Madam Jin was still in their home to help him open the front door and the master bedroom. He finally reached their room and laid her down the bed. Looking at her sleeping face, Shen Yi couldn’t help but smile. His life became more interesting and fun ever since he met this woman.

He gave a quick look on his watch and decided that his wife can have a quick nap before the twins arrive. After taking her shoes off, he covered her with a blanket and shrugged off his coat as he began to finish their preparations.

When 5 PM arrived, Lu Xinyi was both excited and anxious to meet the twins while Shen Yi was having difficulties on containing his disappointment over the matter. Shen Xue will be the one to bring the children today rather than let Lu Xinyi and Shen Yi picked up the twins from the airport.

“Do you think they’ll be able to adjust to living with us?” Lu Xinyi asked in panic while she gripped his arm tightly.

“They are still young but I don’t think it will become a problem.” Shen Yi reclined on their couch and watch his wife twirled her locks between her fingers. He had never met or seen the twins before so he had an idea what they looked like.

“I hope so.”

Shen Yi didn’t say more when they heard a knock at the door. He noticed Lu Xinyi stiffen so slightly beside him as soon as she heard it. She was clearly nervous about looking after these children. Madam Jin took the liberty and answered the door for them.

Moments later, Madam Jin came back with a big smile on her face, with Shen Xue at her side and two little children hiding behind him.

“Ah, finally we’re here. Children, greet your new mommy and daddy!” Shen Xue grinned while Shen Yi glared back at his little brother. What the hell was he talking about? He shouldn’t plant that idea to the twins’ mind. It will hurt them once it was time for them to be parted from him and Lu Xinyi.

“Xue.” Shen Yi warned his brother not to complicate things between them.

He slipped an arm around Lu Xinyi’s waist and pulled her into his side. Lu Xinyi remained silent and relaxed against her husband, trying not to intimidate the children on their presence.

“These are the twins we were talking about. As you know they are Shuren-jiejie’s children.” Shen Xue ran his hand over the little boy’s hair. “This is Shen Zhichen. He is older than this little girl beside me.”

“She is?” Lu Xinyi asked, her eyes wide as she wondered how the children will react on their new home.

“She’s Shen Yuyan.” Shen Xue gestured to the two children to greet their new guardians.

Lu Xinyi marveled how Shen Zhichen could pass as a younger version of her brother-in-law. They shared the same hair color and the shape of their face was almost the same. A smile crossed on her lips as she saw Shen Yuyan look at her with her confusion before turning her attention to Shen Yi.

Taking a quick glance to her husband, Lu Xinyi found him quiet and observing the children. She was worried that he might scare the twins away or make them cry because of his impassive demeanor.

“Well, my work here is done. I’ll come back later for dinner.” Shen Xue said with a broad grin to his face. He left just before his older brother could react from his remarks and to save himself from his wrath.

Shen Yi watched in amusement as the little girl moved to sit on his lap, and gripped his shirt tightly while Shen Zhichen sat beside Lu Xinyi. He tilted his head up to stare at his new guardian.

“You are our new mommy?” he asked.

“Oh, no.” Lu Xinyi giggled and pat his head. “I am your Uncle’s wife.” she then gestured to the man sitting beside her.

“Oh.” Shen Zhichen’s smile faltered. “So we are going to live with you?”

“Yes. You are going to live here with us until your Mama An recovered from her illness.” Shen Yi answered for his wife. They were still considered newlyweds but why did they have to take a crash course about parenting now?
