Chapter 63: I Am Not An Earth Mage

"Hmm?"

Malcolm was surprised to see Lucien suddenly disappearing right under his nose.

He never thought anyone was capable of getting out of teleportation range, unless they had a space-type skill.

"Teleportation?"

Although it was only for a brief moment, Malcolm immediately realized what kind of skill Lucien had just used.

"H-How... can you use teleportation? Aren’t you an... Earth Mage?"

He was so confused that he directly canceled the array and asked Lucien, who was now standing right beside the Core Orb.

"Sigh... old man, who said an Earth Mage couldn’t use teleportation?"

Lucien sighed exaggeratedly as if he were offended. He couldn’t say he got it from his system, right?

"Don’t make me laugh."

"The power you used just now was clearly teleportation. Even a high-ranking Earth Mage could, at best, perform Earth Shrinking."

Malcolm scoffed,

"How can you use it in such a low realm, unless..."

Malcolm suddenly thought of something and looked into the nervous eyes of Lucien.

"Unless it’s a class-specific skill?"

When it came to the World of Origin, even Malcolm was oblivious.

He knew that many people who awakened their classes automatically had class-specific skills that defied common sense in the previous era.

A skill that could only be mastered at a higher rank could easily be used in a lower realm as long as your class had it. It wasn’t without reason that the people of this Soren quickly adapted to the new way of power. It was just too unreasonable.

"Yeah, haha...you guessed it right. It’s just a skill I got after awakening my class."

Lucien quickly caught the excuse given by his grandfather, saving himself from explaining.

"Hmm... like I thought." Malcolm nodded slowly as if he understood.

"But... I don’t remember an Earth Mage having a teleportation skill before. Why are you different?"

He then asked, puzzled.

"Who knows? Grandpa, aren’t you wandering too much? Let’s talk about the real issue first."

Lucien didn’t want to explain anything about his power, so he directly diverted the topic back to where it was.

"Before you try to say something, look at this first."

Then, feeling that Malcolm might react strongly once again, Lucien suddenly took something out from his chest, stunning his grandfather.

It was a black bead that was glowing with a faint golden color.

"Demonic Seed... you really have a Demonic Seed on you."

Malcolm immediately became alert once he saw Lucien take the thing out of his chest; a faint trace of mana was already leaving his body.

From the aura alone, which was desperately trying to influence a certain emotion, he knew what kind of seed it was.

"What... what are you doing?"

However, to his surprise, after taking the Seed of Greed out, Lucien didn’t stop at all. Instead, he grabbed the bead tightly in his fist and said softly in his mind,

’Absorb!’

Swish!

The moment he gave the command, the black bead once again changed its form from solid to liquid, seeping through his arm.

It looked just like before, when this thing tried to control his body. Only this time, he was the one absorbing it.

Previously, after the system gave him this as a reward for extraction, he had a feeling that he could absorb this seed whenever he wanted.

But since the time wasn’t right and Lilith was there, he abstained. But now that Malcolm knew he owned this thing, he had to absorb it, even if he didn’t want to.

After all, if he didn’t show his grandfather that he could control this demonic power, he was sure Malcolm wouldn’t let him keep it.

And he really didn’t want to lose this. He had a hunch that it was very important to him.

"Hey, don’t—"

Lucien saw his grandfather appearing nearby, trying to stop him, but it was too late. He had already successfully absorbed the Seed of Greed into his body.

"Swoosh!"

As soon as Lucien felt the disappearance of the bead in his fist, he suddenly stood still, caught in a trance.

It was so instantaneous that he had no time to react.

Then, before he could feel what happened, he felt his vision shift. It was just like before in the Awakening Chamber when he finally awakened his unique class, The Empty Throne.

Sure enough, Lucien suddenly found himself standing in the same place he had seen before. A simple room devoid of any decorations.

’Empty throne?’

Lucien mumbled to himself, seeing the same unremarkable throne surrounded by four shadows.

Only this time, he noticed that something was different.

’Devourer?’

He saw that one of the shadows suddenly began to pulse with dark, voracious energy and squirmed restlessly. Its pitch-black figure shifted and writhed, with faint golden lines appearing along the edges of its cloak as it slowly expanded...

It was as if it had eaten something unknown, changing its state.

’Did the absorbed Seed of Greed transfer to my class?’

Seeing such a strange scene, Lucien already realized there might be changes in his class, Devourer.

After all, he could feel that his body was still fine and only that shadow representing the Devourer class was showing changes.

Unfortunately, he had yet to find time to check his class. Even now, his grandfather was probably worrying outside.

’Forget it. Let’s clear the issue here first, and then I’ll check my classes.’

Lucien thought for a moment and decided to leave this place. With a thought, his vision shifted back to his body.

By now, he had already realized that this place was actually inside his subconscious mind. So, he could enter and leave as long as he focused.

"Are you... alright?"

As soon as Lucien came out of his trance, he saw his grandfather’s worried face. His hand was on his shoulder, ready to send mana if anything untoward happened.

"Grandpa, I am fine. Can’t you see?"

Lucien smiled as he waved his hand to show that he was fine.

In fact, after absorbing that Seed of Greed, he couldn’t even feel its presence in his body now.

’Maybe I need to activate the Devourer class to feel its effect.’

From how everything was now, it seemed that each of his classes had an isolation effect.

"Thank God you are fine."

Malcolm visibly sighed after seeing him unaffected. He even used his mental power to scan Lucien’s whole body carefully, but felt nothing wrong.

Only then did he relax, then slapped Lucien’s shoulder in anger, causing Lucien to yelp in pain.

"Ouch!"

"Brat...you really scared me for a second."

"What the hell is wrong with you? Didn’t I say not to involve yourself with demonic forces?"

Once he was sure Lucien was okay, Malcolm began to scold this stupid grandson of his.

"You stupid idiot! Why don’t you listen to—"

"Okay, okay, Grandpa, no need to scold me. Can’t you see I’m alright?"

Lucien didn’t want to listen, though, as he directly interrupted him in time.

"Like I said, that Seed of Greed is completely under my control. The previous outburst was just an accident. Now that I have absorbed it, it is no longer dangerous."

He carefully tried to defuse the old man but seemed to have failed, as Malcolm looked at him as if he were an idiot and scolded him mercilessly.

"Tch... that’s what you think. Kid, you have no idea how cunning a demonic force can be... Back in my day, when our family—"

He was just about to tell stories showing Lucien the terror of demonic forces when he heard something that made him stop midway.

"I am not an Earth Mage."
