Limitless Evolution Through Conquering Primal Beauties-Chapter 4 - Stranger Danger
Leonard paused for a moment before answering. The words spun inside his head, searching for the right way to respond to this insane situation.
"I’m... just an ordinary person," he finally said, his voice hesitant. "I suddenly woke up in this place. Honestly, I have no idea how I ended up here."
The rabbit woman—Lily, as the holographic screen called her—tilted her head with an innocent expression. Her long ears moved along with the motion, one bending slightly to the side.
"Near my village," she replied plainly. "You’re... near Lily’s village."
Leonard frowned. A village? So there was a settlement here? But before he could ask more, Lily beat him to it with another naïve question.
"What do you mean you suddenly woke up here?" Lily looked at him with pure curiosity, not a hint of suspicion in her eyes. "How can someone not know how they arrived somewhere?"
"That’s just how it is." Leonard shrugged, still trying to keep one hand covering his lower half. "I don’t know why I’m suddenly here. I just... woke up, and I was already here."
Lily tilted her head the other way. "You’re very strange. How can you not know you’re here?"
She stepped half a pace closer, examining him more carefully. "Is your head injured? Sometimes when someone hurts their head, they forget things."
Leonard reflexively raised a hand and touched his head. His fingers combed through his hair, searching for a bump or wound. And at that moment, the memory of that night in the filthy alley came rushing back.
"Yeah," Leonard muttered. "It seems like that."
But suddenly, full awareness crashed over him again. He was standing naked in front of an alien being, in a strange forest, with a bizarre holographic screen floating above her head. This was too insane. Too many things made no sense.
"Who are you really?" he suddenly demanded, his tone sharper than he intended. "Please answer me honestly. What is all this? Is this some kind of reality show? Why are you cosplaying as a rabbit girl? Or are we part of some secret experiment or something?"
Lily blinked. Several times. Her ears twitched like confused radar.
"Reality show?" she repeated slowly. "Cos... play?" The words sounded foreign on her tongue, as if she had never spoken them in her life.
"What is that? What do you mean?" She shook her head, her white hair swaying. "You still haven’t answered my question. Who are you? Where are you from? What tribe do you come from?"
Leonard fell silent.
He studied Lily’s expression. She genuinely looked confused, not pretending. Her pitch-black eyes showed total bewilderment, like a child hearing words she didn’t understand.
She really didn’t know what a reality show was? Or cosplay?
What era is she living in?
Wait a second.
Leonard stared at her ears again.
Long, soft-furred ears that twitched to catch sounds. Up close, he could see the fine hairs on their surface, the tiny muscles at the base that flexed every time Lily adjusted her hearing.
They were real.
Completely real.
And she was asking about his tribe.
Leonard felt dizzy. Too much confusing information, too many questions flooding in all at once like a tidal wave. His mind screamed, but his mouth stayed frozen.
Was this a prank? Was she an incredibly talented actress? Or...
Or what?
He took a deep breath, calming himself. Trying to play along with rules he didn’t understand.
"My name is Leo," he finally said, choosing a simpler nickname. "I am a... human."
Lily repeated the word as if tasting something unfamiliar. "Human?"
She shook her head. "What tribe is that?"
Leonard nearly choked on his own saliva.
You’ve got to be kidding me.
But Lily wasn’t joking. Her expression was serious, innocent, utterly clueless.
"My name is Lily," she said, introducing herself as naturally as if commenting on the weather. "As you can see, Lily is a rabbit."
Hearing it stated so plainly, Leonard almost jumped—even though he had suspected it.
"What?!" His voice rose. "So your ears are real? You’re not messing with me, right?"
Lily looked at him with a mixture of confusion and mild offense.
"Of course they’re real." She touched her own ears, as if making sure they were still there. "Why have you been questioning strange things this whole time? You’re very strange."
She sighed. "Your head really must be injured."
Leonard opened his mouth, wanting to argue, wanting to ask more, but suddenly he heard a sound.
Footsteps crushing leaves.
From behind the bushes, two figures emerged. Women. Just like Lily—white skin, white hair, rabbit ears on their heads. But their expressions were completely different.
There was no innocent curiosity. No friendliness. Only vigilance. And hostility.
Their eyes immediately locked onto Leonard and in an instant, their bodies tensed, ready to attack.
And above their heads, holographic screens appeared automatically in Leonard’s vision.
[ Emma ]
[ Bloodline: Rabbit ]
[ Stage: 2 ]
[ Evolution Progress: 431/3000 ]
[ Affection: 0% ]
[ Lust: 0% ]
[ Trust: 1% ]
[ Status: Stranger ]
...
[ Alice ]
[ Bloodline: Rabbit ]
[ Stage: 2 ]
[ Evolution Progress: 674/3000 ]
[ Affection: 0% ]
[ Lust: 0% ]
[ Trust: 0% ]
[ Status: Stranger ]
Leonard read the numbers.
Stage 2. Different from Lily, who was still Stage 1. And their Trust... 1% and 0%. That explained a lot.
Even without the screens, their expressions said enough.
The one named Emma, with slightly shorter white hair and sharp, narrow eyes, immediately wore a murderous glare.
The one named Alice, with longer hair, a thin line across her brow, and a hardened jaw, had already taken a stance ready to pounce.
Leonard understood. If he were a woman and suddenly saw a naked strange man near his village, he would react the same way. What he didn’t understand was Lily. The naïve girl stood beside him as if nothing was wrong.
"Idiot, Lily!"
Emma’s voice was sharp and harsh. She pointed at Leonard with one hand while the other gripped a small wooden spear tipped with sharpened stone.
"You’re casually talking to a stranger? Don’t you know the danger?"
Lily flinched. Her body trembled, her ears drooping flat against her head. She lowered her gaze, not daring to respond.
Alice stepped forward. Her voice was deep, filled with authority. Her eyes pierced Leonard.
"Who are you? Where do you come from? What are you doing here?"
Leonard opened his mouth, but Alice wasn’t finished.
"Are you a spy from the wolf tribe?"
Wolf tribe? This is getting crazier.
He raised both hands—a universal gesture for "I’m not dangerous"—but immediately realized that exposed his lower half. He quickly lowered one hand while keeping the other raised.
"W-wait! Calm down!" His voice rose in panic. "I’m not a spy! I’m from the... ape tribe!"
He blurted it out. It was the only thing that came to mind.
Emma and Alice exchanged glances. Their expressions didn’t change.
"I don’t even know why I’m suddenly here!" Leonard rushed on. "I lost my memory. I just woke up here, naked, not knowing anything!"
"He’s telling the truth!"
All eyes turned to Lily. The rabbit girl was still looking down, but her voice came out, trembling.
"H-he speaks strangely. He asks about... things I don’t know," Lily briefly lifted her face, then lowered it again. "Lily thinks his head is really injured."
Leonard looked at Lily with sincere gratitude.
But Emma was unimpressed. She snorted.
"What a ridiculous excuse. You think we’d believe such a made-up story?" She looked at Lily with disgust. "Idiot. You’ve been fooled by this stranger’s sweet words. Foolish Lily."
Lily trembled harder. Her ears nearly folded shut.
Alice exhaled. Her decision was made.
"It’s better if we capture him. Bring him to the village. Let the Chief interrogate him."
Emma nodded in agreement. "Agreed. Better than slitting his throat here."
She slightly raised her spear.
Leonard stepped back. One hand still covered himself, the other raised.
"Wait! Calm down! I can explain more! I’m not dangerous!"
But they didn’t listen.
Emma had already moved. Faster than Leonard expected. Her body shot forward, the small spear in her hand aimed at his leg.
Alice moved from the other side, cutting off his escape.
Leonard had no time to think. He only had time to—
But it was too late.
Emma was already in front of him.
