Life In The Limelight : I Married A Gamer Girl-Chapter 66: Parental Nightmare Part 1
Chapter 66 - Parental Nightmare Part 1
One morning, while Masako and Kazuma were enjoying a rare moment of peace at the breakfast table, Masako's phone buzzed with a message. She picked it up, her golden eyes scanning the screen. A soft groan escaped her lips.
Kazuma, sipping his coffee, raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong, sweetie?"
Masako sighed and set her phone down. "It's my parents. They're coming to visit... and they're staying the night."
Kazuma froze.
His heart sank into his stomach as memories of past interactions with Masako's parents came rushing back.
Masako's mom, Keiko, was always a problem. She had a habit of flirting with him, even back when he and Masako were in high school. She'd compliment his looks, get far too touchy during visits, and once even joked about cheating on her husband to be with him. It had always made Kazuma deeply uncomfortable, but Keiko acted like it was all harmless fun.
Masako's dad, Hideo, was an entirely different nightmare. He had despised Kazuma from the start, constantly demeaning him with insults and negative comments. No matter what Kazuma did, it was never enough for Hideo. And then, of course, there was the time Hideo had threatened to kill him if he ever married Masako.
And now... both of them were coming to stay the night.
Kazuma set his coffee down, his hand trembling slightly. "They're staying here?"
Masako nodded, her expression apologetic. "I know it's a lot, dear, but they insisted."
Kazuma ran a hand through his hair, his blue eyes filled with worry. "Sweetie, you know how your parents are. Your mom always..." He trailed off, his cheeks turning slightly pink.
Masako sighed. "Yeah, I know. She still thinks it's funny to act like that around you."
Kazuma frowned. "And your dad... he's going to hate me no matter what I do."
Masako reached across the table, placing her hand over his. "Kazuma, you've done nothing wrong. You know that, right?"
Kazuma hesitated. "Yeah, but it doesn't change the fact that your dad has been waiting for an excuse to hate me more. And your mom... well..." He cleared his throat, clearly uncomfortable.
Masako gave his hand a reassuring squeeze, her voice soft but firm. "Dear, listen to me. I love you. You're the most important person in my life, and nothing my parents say or do will ever change that."
Kazuma looked into her eyes, finding some comfort in her words.
"And," Masako continued, a playful smile tugging at her lips, "I'm not leaving your side the entire time they're here. I'll make sure my mom keeps her hands to herself, and I'll handle my dad if he starts getting too rude. You're my husband, and they're going to respect you whether they like it or not."
Kazuma let out a small chuckle, her confidence easing his nerves slightly. "You make it sound so easy."
Masako smirked. "That's because it is. They're my parents, but you're my partner. If they can't behave, that's their problem."
Kazuma exhaled, feeling a weight lift from his chest. "Thanks, sweetie. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Masako leaned over, kissing his cheek softly. "You'll never have to find out."
Despite her comforting words, the thought of Keiko and Hideo staying in their home still made Kazuma's stomach twist in knots.
The visit was going to be a challenge, but as long as he had Masako by his side, he knew he could face anything.
Later that day, the dreaded moment arrived—Masako's parents pulled up to their home. The second the door opened, Keiko wasted no time.
"Kazuma, dear!" Keiko's voice rang out before she ran straight into his arms, pulling him into a tight embrace.
Kazuma barely had time to react before he felt softness press against him, her chest smothering him as she hugged him far too eagerly.
Despite being in her mid-fifties, Keiko barely looked over thirty. Her chocolate-brown skin was flawless, and her long hair was thick and silky. If someone didn't know better, they would assume she was Masako's older sister rather than her mother. She was gorgeous—just like Masako—but unlike her daughter, Keiko was shameless.
And worse, her boobs were even bigger.
Kazuma stiffened as she pressed against him, and before he could escape, he felt a squeeze on his butt.
His eyes widened.
Masako, standing right beside them, immediately noticed.
"Oh my, Kazuma," Keiko cooed, finally pulling back but keeping her hands dangerously close to his waist. "You've grown into such a handsome young man. I could just eat you up~"
Masako stepped in immediately, placing herself between Kazuma and her mother. She didn't yell, didn't shove—she simply pushed Keiko back, firmly but respectfully.
"Mom," Masako said, her voice calm but warning. "Don't touch my husband like that again."
Keiko blinked, then waved it off with a careless giggle. "Oh, Masako, don't be so stiff. It's just a joke."
Kazuma, still uncomfortable, took a deep breath before speaking up. "Keiko-san, with all due respect... that was harassment."
Keiko pouted, but her golden eyes twinkled with mischief. "Oh, please, Kazuma. You're a strong, young man—you shouldn't mind getting your ass squeezed by a hot older woman like me."
Kazuma's face twitched.
Masako, now visibly annoyed, grabbed Kazuma's hand, pulling him toward her. "Mom. Enough. I don't care if you think it's a joke—I don't."
Keiko pouted playfully but backed off. "Fine, fine. But I was just saying what all those girls online are thinking."
Masako exhaled sharply, clearly holding back her irritation. "Just go sit down, Mom."
Before Keiko could say anything else, Hideo finally stepped inside.
Kazuma barely had a moment to breathe before Masako's father let out a disappointed sigh.
"Hmph. So, this is the house my daughter wasted her money on?" Hideo muttered, looking around with disdain. "I expected better."
Masako's grip on Kazuma's hand tightened.
Kazuma said nothing, keeping his expression neutral. He knew exactly what was coming next.
Hideo glanced at Kazuma, his lips curling into a sneer. "And look at you. Still dressing like some half-assed college student. At least pretend you know how to be an adult."
Kazuma clenched his teeth but stayed calm. "Good to see you too, Hideo-san."
Hideo scoffed. "Don't act polite. It doesn't suit you. And your hair—what kind of man keeps his hair looking like that? You look ridiculous."
Kazuma exhaled slowly. He had expected the insults, but they still grated on his nerves.
"Dad," Masako interrupted, her tone sharp. "Don't start."
Hideo ignored her, his judgmental gaze sweeping over their hands, still intertwined. His frown deepened.
"Still acting like a lovesick fool," Hideo muttered. "I thought you'd have grown up by now, but I guess I was wrong. Real men don't need to cling to their wives like that."
Kazuma felt Masako tense beside him. She was seconds away from snapping, but he squeezed her hand, silently telling her he could handle it.
"Actually," Kazuma said, his voice calm and steady, "I hold her hand because I love her. I married Masako because she's the most important person in my life, and I'm not ashamed to show it."
Hideo snorted. "Tch. Pathetic."
Masako finally had enough.
She stepped forward, blocking Kazuma from her father's view.
"Dad," she said, her voice deadly serious. "We invited you here as our guests. But if you're going to insult my husband, then I'll ask you to leave. Right now."
Hideo's eyes widened, not expecting his daughter to stand up to him so directly.
Keiko, still lounging on the couch, grinned. "Ooooh, Hideo, looks like your daughter's got a backbone now~"
Hideo gritted his teeth. He wanted to keep talking, but Masako's fierce golden eyes told him she was not playing around.
Finally, he scoffed and turned away. "Hmph. Whatever. Let's just get this over with."
Kazuma watched as Masako let out a slow breath, calming herself before turning back to him.
She placed her hands on his chest, looking up at him with a soft, apologetic expression. "Dear, I'm sorry about them."
Kazuma smiled, cupping her cheek. "It's not your fault, sweetie."
She sighed, leaning into his touch. "Still... I hate seeing you put up with this. I promise, I'm not leaving your side the entire night."
Kazuma chuckled softly. "That's the only thing getting me through this."
Masako smiled, pressing a quick kiss to his lips before whispering, "Then let's survive this together."
Kazuma squeezed her hand, grateful beyond words. No matter how bad the night got, as long as he had Masako by his side, he could handle anything.
