LEVEL 0 IMMORTAL-Chapter 86: You Are The Bone Singers
The white fog that accompanied Yseult to this place settled around her body, thinning until it was little more than a luminous veil that clung to her shoulders and trailed from the hem of her robe like living mist.
The thirteen stone thrones, seven broken, six whole, formed a perfect ring as each intact throne was occupied by a figure shrouded in colored fog, their features completely obscured, their presence felt more than seen.
The hall itself was impossibly large, its ceiling lost in soft white light that seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere. The floor was polished black marble veined with silver, reflecting the six colored mists like fractured rainbows.
There were no doors or windows in this hall, only the thrones of stone, whose purpose was older than any of the occupants here.
Yseult turned towards each member on the throne while nodding and calling them by their designation, the first she acknowledged was the figure covered by a fog of gold, "Stone Monkey..." then the next Angel in the fog of red, "Teacup..." she paused for a bit before addressing the Angel covered by the fog of yellow, "Butter Yellow..." then to the Angel in blue, "Clockwork..." and finally the Angel covered in black, "Leviathan... I call for the 7,345th meeting of the Bone Singers... the Red One is awakened."
A weird silence fell on the gathering of Bone Singers; even Cherry Blossom, who finds it hard to hold her mouth, became quiet, as the full weight of Yseult’s words settled upon them.
Stone Monkey leaned forward on his throne, and his voice, even though it was low, carried such supreme authority that the hall seemed to rumble, "I have been trying to awaken a Red One for twenty thousand years, and you took a decade to do what I could not?"
While the previous silence had been one of surprise, the silence that followed the words of Stone Monkey was heavy; it was as if every Angel here was hanging by his words as he seemed to be the invisible leader of this group. Then he chuckled, "Congratulations, White Queen, it was not a mistake that I gave you the child. Now tell me, did he awaken the heritage of Miracle and Condemnation?"
Every eye turned to Yseult, and she did not keep them waiting. She nodded her affirmation, causing a gasp of surprise to echo around the hall, "Yes, and in fifteen hours, there shall be a Void Incursion, a Void Creature shall enter Trion, and the Heavenly Restriction Canopy will be torn open."
"Well, according to my calculation, it will be more like a pinprick in the Heavenly Canopy," Cherry Blossom muttered aloud, even though it appeared as if she was talking to herself; however, as she continued to talk, her voice was increasing until she was screaming with her hands upraised. "But this is a pinprick that cannot be healed, and this hole would slowly widen and would soon start releasing tears that shall spread all over the heavens!"
"Pipe down, Cherry," Clockwork gestured towards Cherry Blossom, whose voice was also female, although with the way the blue light hugged her impressive figure, there was no doubt about her gender. "You know that nothing is set in stone."
"Yes, but he has a Void Incursion coming up," Cherry Blossom whispered fiercely, "It is the one thing that can pierce through the Heavenly Canopy."
"As much as I dislike her energy," Leviathan said, "She is right, and we can finally move forward with the plan." The voice of Leviathan sounded as if it was coming from a being a million times his size, but the beings here were so powerful that his voice did not affect them.
Stone Monkey knocked the size of his throne, and silence settled on the hall. "If his Incursion is happening in fifteen hours..."
"Elias," Yseult interrupted Stone Monkey, and the golden figure cocked his head to the side as he was surprised, but Yseult pushed forward, "His name is Elias... I took this name from the robes you said were wrapped around the child."
"Ah, Elias... an interesting name," Stone Monkey said, and continued from where he was before Yseult interrupted him, "If Elias’s Incursion were happening in fifteen hours, then you need to prepare him appropriately. I shall be sending you the coordinates where his Incursion would be directed."
"Do you have a place outside the eyes of those above and below?" Butter Yellow asked, and Stone Monkey grunted a bit in irritation, but he nodded,
"Yes, in the Southern Swamps is a tribe of Gnulls that I eradicated ten thousand years ago, but I have kept their bodies active, and there is an active society there... If a Void Incursion descends, that would be the best place to observe it from, and we shall know if it would be dangerous enough to warrant the attention of the Ascendants and draw their eyes away from the Heavenly Canopy."
Yseult frowned, "The Southern Swarmps are under the domain of House Rotfather. Can you be sure you can handle any backlash if his Generals catch a whiff of the Void Creature?"
Stone Monkey nodded, "Trust me, ten thousand years is a long time, and I have ensured that nothing can go wrong." He clapped his hands together, "Fifteen hours is not a long time, we need to prepare for..."
"My report is not over, Stone Monkey," Yseult interrupted him, and Stone Monkey chuckled, but the note of irritation in his regal voice was breaking through, "Apologies, White Queen, you know that this is an important occasion; surely every other thing can wait until the Incursion is settled."
Yseult shook her head, "This particular matter cannot wait, and it may affect the success of our plans," she paused and drew in a long breath, "A Lord Captain was at Elias Ascension Ceremony."
A moment passed and then,
"BOOM!"
Stone Monkey struck the edge of his throne with his fist with so much force that the golden fog around him shattered and his real appearance was revealed, and it was a man in golden armor that covered him from his head to his toes leaving no single spot where any of his flesh could be seen, but his eyes could be seen beneath th ehelmet, and they resembled two burning suns.
Looking at Stone Monkey was like peering directly at the sun, and even the Angels here had to avert their eyes a bit to the side under the weight of his fury.
Slowly, the golden fog covered his form once again, and the waves of power pouring out from him were suppressed.
He spoke slowly, each word seemed to be pressed into space, "How did you draw the attention of a fucking Lord Captain? Were the wards surrounding Stoneward Asylum not functional?"
"Oh, they were," Yseult shrugged, seemingly unconcerned by the display of power from Stone Monkey, "And they performed better than expected because the Lord Captain believed I just produced an Ascendant Candidate under their noses, but what they don’t know is that I used a Great Fragment, and the wards could not hold back all of the emanations from the Ascension Ceremony."
The heavy voice of Leviathan rumbled, "Do you mock us, White Queen, a mortal child, even if he is from that race, under the Heavenly Restriction that blocks the passing of knowledge... survived a Greater Fragment?"
Yseult smiled, "Oh, he also opened a hundred pools of Lumina, and he is at the peak of the Wisp Stage."
