Let's Squander A Billion First!-Chapter 1621: Visitor from Beyond the Sky (Part 8)
The woman left that place and walked over to the man who had come up with her.
They arrived late and had no seats, so they could only squat in the corner.
The man hadn’t spoken all along, keeping his head down, making it hard to see his appearance, and he was slightly trembling.
The woman went over, held his shoulder, and whispered into his ear, "Guess who I saw."
"Who?" The man’s voice was hoarse.
"Her Royal Highness, the Princess."
The man immediately grabbed the woman’s hand. "Where?"
The woman said, "Inside, but... Her Highness seemed a bit strange, she didn’t seem to recognize me."
The look in her eyes was too unfamiliar...
The man struggled to get up. "I want to see."
"No, there are too many people." The woman stopped him, cautiously saying, "Let’s watch for a while and then decide."
The man gritted his teeth. "But that’s..."
The woman was quite calm and rational. "We don’t know the situation now. If Her Highness has another plan, rushing over may spoil things."
The man took a couple of deep breaths and finally seemed persuaded by the woman, leaning back.
-
The boat moved slowly, rocking like a cradle, almost silent. Chuzheng suspected they were rowing by hand.
Midway, they would stop and go, avoiding patrol guards.
Chuzheng leaned against a wooden board, studying the object in her hand that looked like a locator.
This thing was just a screen, without buttons or any operational parts.
As Chuzheng was engrossed, a green dot suddenly appeared on the screen originally only with a red dot.
Chuzheng: "!!!"
Almost simultaneously, the voice of the King’s Account sounded.
[Hidden Task: Please obtain a Good Person Card from Lou Xing and prevent the Good Person Card from turning evil.]
Chuzheng: "..."
Chuzheng took a deep breath and slowly asked, who is Lou Xing?
[It’s the person you met before.]
Chuzheng: "..."
I knew it!
I even stole his stuff... Wait! He probably doesn’t know!
I absolutely can’t let him find out!
Chuzheng watched as the green dot on the screen got closer. Chuzheng got up to leave, startling Brother Hui: "Miss Chuzheng, you..."
"It’s fine, no need to follow me."
Chuzheng went out alone.
By now, most people in the cabin were asleep, and those who weren’t remained silent, quietly leaning on one side.
Chuzheng walked to the edge of the cabin where she could see outside. Outside were the rocks of the underground river, with some strange plants growing.
What’s a Good Person Card doing in a place like this?
Chuzheng looked at the screen, and the green dot hadn’t moved. According to her current position, it should be by the shore...
Damn!
Could it be for catching stowaways?
Seeing that their positions would soon intersect, Chuzheng turned to find the boatman. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Stop?" The boatman shook his head. "That’s not possible. Our route and schedule are fixed. We can’t stop; otherwise, we’ll run into the patrol!"
Chuzheng offered the boatman more money.
The boatman: "..."
Even if you give me more money, I can’t risk my neck!
Chuzheng kept adding more money.
The boatman: "..."
I’m really afraid to die!
Chuzheng added yet more money.
The boatman: "..."
The boatman let out a breath. "What do you want to do?"
"Go ashore to take a look," said Chuzheng. "It won’t take long."
No matter what the Good Person Card is doing, I’ll knock him out and bring him back first.
Yes!
That’s how I’ll do it!
[...]
The boatman looked outside, weighed his options, and said, "I can only wait for you up ahead. You can follow the shore and catch up, but you only have half an hour."
There’s a patrol every half hour; he can wait for her at the next hiding spot.
"Deal."
The boatman brought the boat ashore. Chuzheng instructed Brother Hui briefly, then directly entered the lush thicket of plants.
These plant clusters looked somewhat familiar, but their size was completely unfamiliar.
Uncertain whether they were poisonous, Chuzheng dared not touch them and carefully avoided those things as she moved inward.
The green dot grew closer to her, and Chuzheng continually adjusted her position until she finally overlapped with the green dot.
But...
Besides these abnormal plants, what’s there?
Not a single soul!
Is this thing messing with me or what?
Feeling displeased, Chuzheng didn’t show it on her face, but her actions revealed it as she kicked a nearby plant.
Suddenly, her ankle felt cold, and a sticky sensation spread from there.
Chuzheng instinctively moved her foot.
Thud—
Chuzheng heard a muffled thump, and her heart skipped a beat.
Before she could check the situation, the voice of the King’s Account came again.
[Congratulations, young lady, on completing your first rewind in this plane, loading now...]
-
When the sticky sensation hit again, Chuzheng resisted the urge to kick and looked down.
A pair of dirty hands were tightly gripping her ankle, as if bones were rising from the earth... phewy!
The eerie sensation vanished.
Chuzheng pushed aside the large leaves that were blocking her view, finally seeing a pit beside her.
The owner of the hand grabbing her ankle had clearly just climbed up from the pit.
Chuzheng leaned over and took a glance into the pit.
Inside stood sharp stone cones. Falling down would have been a justified death...
After looking at the pit, Chuzheng’s attention shifted to the man.
He was still wearing a silver-gray combat suit that was, unfortunately, torn and filthy, almost unrecognizable.
The man’s fingers were slowly loosening, his body sliding down.
Chuzheng grabbed his clothes and pulled him up.
She looked up. Overhead was a road, the only one leading to District Two besides the underground river.
The Good Person Card likely fell down from there.
Chuzheng looked at him and sighed.
I really am too pitiful.
Why must a poor soul like me bear these burdens so early?
-
Lou Xing felt a pressure and pain in his chest.
He barely opened his eyes to see a snow-white ceiling, and there was a faint smell of disinfectant at the tip of his nose.
Was this a hospital?
Lou Xing felt as if a boulder were pressing on his chest, making it hard to breathe. With some difficulty, he raised a hand to press on his chest and turned to look around.
No...
This wasn’t a hospital.
The surroundings looked more like a hotel.
And this decor was familiar to him—this was Aigeli Hotel, the finest in District Two.
How did he get here?
Lou Xing’s mind was still a little unclear. After a while, he finally recollected what had happened before.
While chasing a fugitive, he miscalculated, leading to a strategic failure and left him isolated, ultimately falling into the opponent’s trap.
Lou Xing felt something was fishy about this, but his current state didn’t allow him to think much about it.
Lou Xing tried to sit up, but finding it impossible, gave up, lying on the spacious, comfortable bed and staring at the ceiling.
Who brought him here?
It definitely couldn’t be his people... If they found him, they should have sent him back to the Special Operations Group’s medical room.
At the very least, a hospital, why bring him to a hotel?
Lou Xing lay there for more than an hour, and no one came into the room.
He watched as the last drop in the IV bottle beside him dripped into the tube...
