Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System-Chapter 108 - 89: New Happenings at the Old House
Waking up from a sleep, Li Younan felt refreshed.
Jing Chaoyi hadn’t gotten up yet. After Li Younan got up, he silently made breakfast in the kitchen. He didn’t hurry to call Jing Chaoyi to wake up, and by the time he finished his portion, Jing Chaoyi came out from the room rubbing her eyes.
Sleepily saying, "Good morning, senior." She yawned, "Didn’t sleep well last night, had insomnia."
Li Younan laughed and said, "Why did you have insomnia?"
"Because I was thinking about you."
Jing Chaoyi also had a nonchalant look, casually uttering such words, even she couldn’t help but laugh afterward.
Half an hour later, Li Younan was ready to head out.
Jing Chaoyi didn’t go downstairs to see Li Younan off, in her words: "Senior, I don’t want to say goodbye to you, goodbyes make me sad, so I won’t see you off."
Li Younan, in a somewhat annoyed manner, tapped her on the head.
This farewell wasn’t as straightforward as the last time in Xiamen, Jing Chaoyi was getting more and more outspoken.
Li Younan sat in the car and started the engine.
Jing Chaoyi sent over a message, Li Younan glanced at it casually: "Senior, next time help me with my eyeliner, okay."
Li Younan gave a silent laugh and didn’t reply.
The car slowly drove out of the underground parking lot of the community.
Next comes the long journey.
Li Younan opened the map navigation, the distance to home was over 1100 kilometers.
After leaving Hunan, he still needed to enter Chongqing and cross through it to enter Sichuan.
Li Younan didn’t plan to linger in Chongqing—there’s no other reason, the place is just too fun, if he were to take a stroll in Chongqing, returning time would become uncertain.
There are quite a few friends of his in Chongqing too.
Li Younan turned on his phone camera and smiled at the lens: "Friends, I’m going to make a steadfast journey back home now, not stopping for the time being."
Putting his phone down, Li Younan began focusing on driving.
Considering it’s a long trip, just before entering the highway, Li Younan drove into a gas station, filled up the tank while carefully checking the Cruiser’s fuel, tire pressure, and water tank, ensuring no issues.
The back seats were already folded down, a 1.2-meter small bed was ready. Since this modification essentially didn’t change the car body structure, it’s just like placing a large item in the trunk, hence wouldn’t be stopped by traffic police.
A mattress and a thin quilt were already laid out atop; the navigation was set, the destination was naturally the home county town, and the route would pass the outskirts highway of Chongqing.
Li Younan started the car, entering the Changsha-Zhangjiajie highway.
The car drove steadily.
Li Younan maintained the allowable speed limit.
There weren’t many cars on the road, and Li Younan focused on looking ahead. In the morning near a service area in Changde, Li Younan parked the car, refueled, and with his thermos, got hot water, casually ate some lunch from the service area.
By noon, the car entered Chongqing’s territory. The highway signs displayed various district names in Chongqing, yet Li Younan simply drove along the ring highway without exiting.
Through the window, one could see Chongqing’s unique mountainous terrain and dense buildings, but the car continued running on the highway.
After passing the main urban area of Chongqing, noticeably more large vehicles appeared on the road.
In the afternoon at a service area near Sui Ning, Li Younan stopped again. Repeated the actions of refueling, collecting water, and using the restroom. This time, he moved around a bit, stood by the car for a few minutes.
Feeling a bit tired, Li Younan got into the rear compartment, lay down on the prepared bed, left a gap in the window for ventilation, and set an alarm for half an hour.
The alarm rang, he got up and washed his face with cold water, and continued on the road.
The sky gradually darkened.
Li Younan turned on the car lights, continued heading north along the Chengdu-Chongqing ring highway, the traffic was less in the evening, familiar road signs began to appear.
Exited the highway, paid the toll, displaying mileage over a thousand kilometers more than at the start.
Anchuan County.
Finally arrived in the hometown county.
Anchuan County is a large county under Mianyang, there aren’t any famous attractions or landmark buildings, but it has a strong learning atmosphere, being a leading county in education within the province.
In a sense, this place is a haven for rote learning, students are highly capable of exams, and the top-scoring students here yearly even rival those in Mianyang’s central area... Overall, it’s certainly somewhat lesser.
Li Younan had always studied in the county when preparing for college entrance exams.
The last time he visited home was half a year ago during the New Year; he only stayed for three days, had New Year’s dinner and returned to Binhai City.
Mom said, the girlfriend’s side is important, being able to come back once makes mom very happy.
Yang Ting said, just a symbolic visit is enough, what’s there to miss about such a backward county?
Li Younan thought, perhaps this place isn’t as developed as the district counties in the East, but he was indeed nostalgic, indeed loved it, because it’s his hometown, where his dearest and most beloved people are. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Reached the toll station, Li Younan called his mom, saying he’d arrive home in about twenty minutes.
It could be heard that mom was very surprised, very delighted, she hesitated for a moment, "Ah? You’re here already? So soon? Weren’t you still in Changsha yesterday?"
Mom’s geography wasn’t that good, didn’t have much concept of the distance from Changsha to home, just thought maybe it takes several days and nights of driving!
Li Younan didn’t mention driving over a thousand kilometers here, instead, lightly said, "Not that far... Mom, I’m a bit hungry."
