-"I see you have chosen a rather peculiar path,"- the Overseer said, suddenly catching Sandra off guard.

"You can see my abilities?" Sandra asked, her eyes wide with shock.

"I am an entity closely connected to the Plains of Amaeron. Seeing the skills of a level 12 being is no extraordinary feat," the Overseer stated, her eyes fixed on Sandra, a dazzling smile plastered on her face.

"I see…"

-"Times have shown me that being able to see the dead always brings out unique results. I am excited to observe your progress, Sandra Owen,"- the Overseer said. Her lips curled into a smile, yet the look in her eyes was so robotic that it didn’t feel like she could get excited about anything.

"I have come with the purpose of gaining some information about her skills, Overseer. And to also fulfil the price it will take," Lucas asked while he sipped tea elegantly.

Sandra side-eyed him and looked at how noble he appeared at that moment. His posture, his face, his behavior—they all made her feel that Lucas had definitely lived that ’noble life’ he talked about.

-"Would you like to know everything I can tell you about her skill or specific topics? The price depends on the question."-

Lucas looked at Sandra, who thought for a few seconds. Until now, Lucas was surprised that the Overseer hadn’t mentioned mind reading to her, which he knew would feel strange to Sandra, as she was not one to accept such things easily.

’Maybe she is only open about this with me?’ Lucas had a fleeting thought and then dismissed it. The Overseer was not a being that would toy with his emotions.

"What would it take to know everything about the skill?" Sandra asked with a slight urgency in her voice.

-"That will take the price of completing 140 stages of the dungeon, Sandra Owen."- The Overseer stated. Sandra’s eyes widened, and her face grew paler with every passing second.

"140?!" she exclaimed.

"That is normal, Sandra. You are asking for complete information about the skill to begin with. Start with smaller topics," Lucas stated calmly, making Sandra rethink her approach.

She hesitated for a few seconds before finally speaking, "With this skill, I know I can bring back dead beings. My question is… how can I do that?" She asked with determined eyes.

There was a brief silence before the Overseer spoke again.

-"For a brief description, It will take two dungeon floor clears to get that answer."- The Overseer said, her smile never faltering.

"Really?! Lucas, come quickly, let’s start completing the stages!" Sandra exclaimed happily and tugged at Lucas’s arm to pull him from the chair.

Lucas placed the teacup on the table and gave the Overseer a courteous bow before moving toward the gate.

"I will be coming back in some time, Overseer," Lucas stated as he stood in front of the glowing gate. First, Sandra jumped in, and then Lucas followed.

Yet, when he stepped through, Lucas found himself still in the white room. He had not teleported back.

-"Lucas Garde, be careful with Sandra Owen’s wishes. They might turn the world upside down in the future."- The Overseer stated while sipping her tea.

Lucas’s eyes widened in shock. Something like this had never happened with the Overseer before, not even once.

"Can you explain what you mean by that?" Lucas asked.

-"My lips are sealed forcefully, but with the completion of 40 stages of the dungeon, you will receive the right answers."- She stated, and before Lucas could speak further, she smiled at him and waved goodbye.

Lucas’s vision shifted, and he found himself back on the familiar dungeon floor.

"What took you so long? Come on, it’s going to start any minute now!"

"Yes, yes, let’s start." Lucas looked ahead and saw that the stage had not yet begun. He had question and he looked at Sandra with perplexed emotions yet nothing had happened right now so he gave himself some breather.

"Why didn’t you bring Barky with you?"

"Ahh, I really wanted to, but then I noticed its health was borderline to dying again. I really should have brought it back every day," Sandra said with a dejected look.

Lucas chuckled at her, which made her want to protest, when suddenly, the message for the dungeon appeared in front of them.

[Welcome to the next stage!]

[Objective - Defeat the monster hordes]

[Failure - Dungeon resets to Stage 30]

"Fuck, isn’t that failure condition too harsh?" Sandra exclaimed.

"It was once at Stage 1 rather than 30 before. Pay attention. Incoming monsters in the front," Lucas said as he unsheathed both his swords and dashed forward. Sandra stayed behind. She didn’t have any skills beyond support abilities, none of which were related to combat.

The circle in the center flashed and sent a beacon straight to the ceiling.

DHUN DHUN DHUN DHUN

From the light came the sound of marching. Lucas didn’t stop until he was a few meters away from the beacon of light.

Soon, humanoid figures revealed themselves. They were countless and appeared to be clad in armor.

"It’s a whole army! Get in the corner, Sandra!" Lucas shouted while his swords faced the horde.

He could see nothing but pitch-black armor. There were no openings in the armor, and whatever was inside was not visible.

The armored figures marched and drew their swords in unison. Moments later, every single one of them began running.

DHUN DHUN DHUN DHUN DHUN

The sound of heavy footsteps echoed everywhere until it was the only thing Lucas and Sandra could hear.

Sandra’s face turned pale, her hands trembling from panic. The scene before her was nothing short of a war.

An uncountable number of armored humanoid figures charged at her and Lucas. She couldn’t fathom how it would even be possible to clear this stage.

Her eyes were glued to the army until she noticed Lucas. He stood with a confident posture, his swords in position. While she remained in the corner, he was just a foot away from her, as if to say nothing could reach her while he was there.

Sandra looked at him, and an unbelievable thought crossed her mind: ’Lucas will take care of everything.’

It was a ridiculous thought, yet his aura, his confidence, and his professional stance with the swords all told her instincts that this was nothing to him.

"Siege summoning," Lucas muttered loudly, snapping Sandra out of her trance.

Soon, a small circle of runes formed right beside him, and a large silhouette made of energy materialized over the circle.
