Chapter 47: The Pink Mischief (II)

White watched her bounce down to the battle stage, with an annoyed expression on his face, but it soon subsided and he whispered,

"Good luck."

Denmark Hilfiger.

He was 4th on the genius ranking, while Morgaine was 5th on the ranking.

That fact left White confused.

Morgaine had claimed she had come to resolve a challenge, meaning she was the one being challenged.

But why would the 4th on the ranking be challenging the 5th on the ranking, a person of the lower rank?

The answer may seem like they just needed points.

After all, that was what the entire challenge was all about.

But the truth was, the challenge wasn’t like that.

Many of them, the top ten at least, weren’t fighting for points.

They were in the top ten; they had enough, as there weren’t that many fun things to buy with points in the academy.

Not when everyone was maximally focused on improving their strength.

Almost all of the current top ten were challenging White himself, and it obviously wasn’t for points.

They wanted his rumored first position.

That was what Gustav wanted, revenge, the same for Rukun.

The challenge was just a ’legal and recognized’ way to do that.

So, Denmark challenging someone lower than him didn’t make sense to White.

’Or she was the one who challenged him and just lied.’

The thought echoed in his head, and he did consider it to hold some truth.

After all, Morgaine was anything but truthful. She had even called Denmark a challenge that wouldn’t take time to resolve.

That was insane.

Still, he was a bit excited.

Just how strong was the so-called Purple Mischief?

White had never seen her fight seriously before.

All of it made him curious and a bit excited for the fight.

_______

It has always been a weird feeling to her, and maybe it’ll never stop being one.

This ’fighting’ that the humans around here call it.

From where she came from, there was no such thing as fighting, or maybe they just called it by a different name... surviving.

"READY!"

The instructor’s words echoed in her head, and she unconsciously turned to him.

Another word that also didn’t make sense.

There was no such thing as ready back home... for many a time, the fight was usually over before such a thing crossed the mind.

"FIGHT!"

She slowly turned her head forward to the one who was supposed to be her opponent.

It was a chubby boy with dirty brown hair and eyes, looking at her with an expression that bordered on both amusement and caution.

She had not seen him in battle before but had heard hard of his notorious reputation.

Both of his palms slowly raised, and she saw this gummy liquid starting to escape the pores of his hands, dripping onto the ground.

They were brown in color, and quickly enough they shaped together, forming three large objects of about 5 meters, wriggling behind him.

True to the notorious rumors about him, the shapes were large tongues.

Yes, human tongues, but brown in color, and crackling around him like whips.

Their edges were sharp like blades, even though they appeared to have been made from some type of brown slime.

"There’s no need to be afraid."

Denmark called out to her, his long tongue reaching out and rubbing his jaw.

"I’ll make sure you have a good time." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

He said, and Morgaine looked at him blankly, whispering,

"Afraid? What’s tha..."

"Oh, that..." She whispered, her blank face slowly settling into a more nefarious one.

Her lips widened, a line appearing on her cheeks that reached her ear, revealing a smile that didn’t seem human.

Both hands were slowly raised up, and the whole arena witnessed her fingers lengthening.

They formed claws of about 20 centimeters in height before they curved inwards like scythe edges.

"They did mention that humans do get afraid before fighting..."

Slowly lowering herself to all fours, her claws glowed with a pink energy that turned them sharper than blades.

They sliced into the ground like knife through butter.

In the next moment,

VROOOOOOM!

The air shook as the tongue-like whips surrounding Denmark slammed forward towards her.

One from straight before her and two from the side, locking down anywhere she could be dodging except behind her, but then.

RIIIPPPLE!

A pink glow spread beneath her as Morgaine’s legs changed, her foot nails turning to claws that dug into the battle stage.

She raised her head, eyes burning an intense pink, the same for her forehead, which glowed with so much pink energy it completely erased her facial features.

BOOOOOOOM!

A droning sound and the air exploded with a bang as a pink beam of light blasted forward.

The tongue-whips lashing forward all had a large hole blown through them as Morgaine tore through with nothing but speed.

Denmark’s eyes widened seeing the approaching pink blur.

He tried to move, yet before his brain could fully register it.

PUUUCHI!

The sound of a blade piercing into flesh rang out, followed by a heavy explosion that sent the entire stadium into pin-drop silence.

All eyes turned to the battle stage.

Pinned against the barrier enclosing the stage was Denmark, the surface now riddled with cracks.

But what made them hold their breath was the claw that had pierced straight through his neck, tearing out from the back in a glow of pink energy.

DRIIIIIP!

Blood dripped from Denmark’s lips, soon drenching his entire uniform in crimson as he looked before him in disbelief.

There was Nova, all 10 of her sickle-like claws torn straight through his neck, as she pinned him to the barrier.

One single move, before he could even blink, and her claws were in his neck.

"I knew... you... were... a monster."

RIIIIIP!

She ripped her claws out of his neck, sending him falling to the side, his head barely held together by his neck bones.

"WINNER! Morgaine Pinkcasio!"

The instructor finally woke up and announced, but there was no cheering at all.

It was a drop-dead silence that lingered even as she climbed off the stage and walked back to her seat.
