Legendary Awakening: Harem System In The Post-Apocalyptic World-Chapter 114: Problem
"That’s right." Nodded Max, looking back at her with a calm expression on his face.
Seeing this, Natalie bit her lower lip, frustration clear on her adorable little face.
Naira noticed this, so did Max, Sophie and Emily.
While Naira pursed her lips, naturally feeling uncomfortable by the reception, Max’s expression didn’t even ripple because he had already expected this.
On the other hand, a hint of anger flashed in Sophie’s eyes and her expression turned cold when she saw Natalie’s expression.
Did he not care about Natalie’s feelings at all?
Emily felt bad for her daughter and was about to reach out and hold her hand to give her emotional support but right then...
Hu~
Natalie took a deep breath, stood up from her chair and walked over to Max and Naira. Then, under Naira’s nervous gaze, she gently took her hands in hers and gave her a warm, welcoming smile, "Hello, Miss Naira. I’m Natalie, his younger sister. It’s very nice to meet you. I hope we get along."
"Also..." She paused, staring at her which made Naira self conscious. But then she saw Natalie look at her with an admiring gaze and heard her say, "...You are very beautiful. No wonder Big Brother likes you."
Naira blushed and lowered her head before softly saying, "Thank you, Miss Natalie. You are very adorable and I also hope to get along with you."
"Mm." Natalie nodded, "Come, let me introduce you properly to Sophie and Mom. Then, we have to get you something to eat. See how weak you have become."
Just like that, she pulled Naira along and introduced Emily and Sophie to her one by one. Emily welcomed Naira warmly and Sophie... She also conversed with her politely before excusing herself.
Max watched it all in silence, finding Natalie even more likable. At the same time, his brows slightly furrowed because of Sophie.
’I need to have a proper talk with her soon.’
...
Max wanted to give Naira and his family time to get to know each other and get familiar.
Knowing that if he stayed there, they wouldn’t be able to freely express themselves or be at ease, he left the house and pulled up his status screen.

After taking a look at it, he closed it and opened Jamie’s status screen.
[Name: Jamie Ryder]

[Loyalty: 61→63]
[Level: 8]
[Status: Thoughtful, Alert]
’So, he hasn’t encountered any thorny problem yet?’ thought Max and focused on his name. Immediately, he could feel his location.
On the way to the Mansion, he had asked Nick whether he knew anything about how the Scavengers got stronger.
He could have asked the Scavengers’ families too, but their loyalties were in single digits and few’s were practically zero. So, he knew they wouldn’t tell him anything, unless he forced them to, which he didn’t want to do at the moment because it would increase the risk of them rebelling when they got powers after awakening.
Of course, he was confident of handling them even then, but it would be a hassle.
Besides, he had Nick, who should know as much as others since his father was also a Scavenger, though not for long.
And as expected, Nick gave him the information he was looking for and confirmed his suspicion.
It turned out, most of the Scavengers were people with questionable characters, who a masked man in black trench coat had gathered three days after the D-Day.
After meeting him, the group ’Scavengers’ was formed and they got together and dug up a well in the college compounds.
Afterwards, they began raiding and pillaging people.
Upon hearing this, Max was sure this mask man, who should be different man from the one who tried to incite people to attack the Mansion—Brown Family’s dog—had somehow allowed them to exploit the radiation in the water, which he was slowly coming to suspect could be a dangerous or impure form of mana, to become stronger.
As for what his purpose was for doing this, he couldn’t make any assumptions yet because there was not much information about him.
Still, from how the Scavengers were only focused on the northern part of the city, he suspected that this masked guy might have created more groups throughout the city.
If his suspicion was true, then the teams he had sent into the city to distribute food and water and make them submit to his rule were in danger.
Thinking this, he remembered the team led by Kevin which had come to the northern part and his expression fell.
That team should have Aaron, his uncle Evans’ eldest son, leading it, but apparently, after leaving the Mansion, Aaron had told them to go without him and went elsewhere on his own.
This was a problem...
...
Clang! Clang!
Max stood back after banging the steel gate of the Foster Manor.
Not too long after, the gate was opened and Max saw a gentle-looking, beautiful woman in her thirties.
She was dressed in a knee-length green sun dress with a thin black overcoat. Seeing him, she revealed a warm smile, "Hello, Max. Please come in."
She was Penelope, Max’s eldest uncle, Mark’s wife.
"Hello, Aunt." nodded Max after sweeping his gaze over her, appreciating her soft beauty, and entered the manor.
"Are you here to meet father-in-law?" She asked because except Robert, no Foster male was currently in the manor and she doubted he was here for her, his other aunts or cousin sisters.
"Yes. Please take me to him." nodded Max.
Though Max’s voice was calm, his expressionless face and the solemn look in his eyes told her he wasn’t in the mood to talk. So, she stopped trying to converse with him and quickly led him to Robert’s residence, a simple one story house with a front courtyard.
Robert was in the courtyard, lounging in a wicker chair, soaking in the sun with his eyes closed.
Before Penelope could even knock on the door, he opened his eyes and called out, "Come in."
Penelope glanced at Max and said, "Go in. I’ll be nearby. If you need anything, just call out."
"Mm. Thank you, but that wouldn’t be necessary. Please go and rest." said Max, pushed open the wooden door and entered the house.
"What is it?" asked Robert, his expression turning serious upon noticing Max’s look and body language.
"Grandfather, the thing is..." Max briefly explained how Aaron ditched the team he was in charge of.
"...This isn’t acceptable," said Max.
Robert nodded, then asked, "So, what do you plan to do about it?"
"The only reason I came to tell you this is because he is family and if I were to punish him, I might come across as overbearing and emotionless." said Max, "So, when he returns, you deal with him and make sure that neither he, nor others disobey my orders ever again. Because if they do..."
Max didn’t finish the sentence.
"I understand." Robert nodded, "I’ll make sure they don’t do it again."
"Mm." Max left, leaving Robert whose expression slowly hardened.
"These retards! They really take everything for granted." He growled. He really wanted to go find Aaron and kill him so he wouldn’t implicate the rest of his family due to this fuck up.
He knew, if Max was anything like the Williams described in his family’s records, he would stop bothering to care about the Foster family and would treat them like everyone else if they didn’t obey him and did anything out of the line.
’It’s all my fault in the end.’ He sighed in regret, "I had been too easy on Mark and others, and even easier on their kids. I should have taught them like my father and grandfather taught me... the hard way.’
He sighed again and closed his eyes, ’Maybe they really need a reality check...’
...
Rhhum!
As the pickup truck rolled into another street on the southern part of the city, Jamie jumped off the truck and walked over to a nearby, decaying corpse.
Thud!
The other six men on the truck held their breath to not smell the horrible stench, disgust, unease and fear clear on their pale faces as they looked at the dozens of corpses... mutilated corpses... littering the street.
Jamie stood up after examining a few corpse and walked back to the truck. "Continue."
