Legendary Architect of Apocalypse-Chapter 38: Completion of Incomplete Preparation
Elias raised his gun, and the woman’s expression distorted. However, before she could react, the deafening sound of the gunshot echoed across the room.
The bullet tore through the monstrous woman’s head before exiting through the back. It was only stopped by the bulletproof glass behind her, which was now covered in minor cracks.
Elias stepped aside, letting the woman fall where he had previously been standing. Blood spilled out of her head, mixing with the blood on the ground that had belonged to her prey
Her sharp claws retracted the moment she died. In her normal form, she looked no different from an ordinary person.
Elias observed the woman, seemingly lost in thought. He had seen her abilities. Even though they were decent abilities, capable of killing many ordinary people, they didn’t seem particularly useful to him.
Even more concerning was the woman’s behavior, as if this ability were controlling her instead of the other way around. Did he really want an ability that might turn him into something similar? He wasn’t certain.
"It was a waste of time after all," he sighed, finally walking away. He decided to give up on the ability, which seemed more harmful than useful to him.
He walked down from the Tower and left through the same place he had entered. Returning to his snowmobile, he began searching for his next target.
Over the next few days, he moved from one part of his domain to another, extracting the temporary abilities from people and merging them with his body, improving his strength along the way.
It took him four days to cover most of the ability users in his domain, leaving only one person who was still evading him.
This person was also the most confusing of all, as their marker would disappear in one part of the city and reappear in a completely different area, as if they were teleporting.
Since they didn’t stay in the same place for long, it made it even harder for Elias to catch them. Adding to the difficulty, he could see the other domain owners approaching his domain.
Now that it was the fourth day, almost everyone had begun trying to explore other domains. Seven people had already disappeared from the rankings, having been killed by others. That left only three before the entire test was going to be over.
At the moment, Elias was ranked last in the ranking. He knew that he couldn’t waste time chasing the person who could teleport. He had to put his final plan into motion, even if the preparations weren’t complete.
He changed his target and went to intercept the other rankers who were about to reach his domain.
....
In a neighboring domain, two rankers walked side by side. Though they were supposed to be rivals, they seemed overly friendly with each other.
One of them was a lean boy with restless eyes. He kept looking at his rank, unable to hide a satisfied grin.
"Just a bit more," he said, looking at the twelfth ranked name, which belonged to him. "A bit more, and we’re in the top ten. Teaming up was the right move."
The other boy had a much larger size. Not only was he eight feet tall, but his body was also very bulky, which made him look like a small mountain that was moving.
He laughed, paying more attention to the map.
"Of course. It’s safer to hunt together than alone. At this pace, even if we ran into one of those descendants..." He trailed off, the word leaving a sour taste in his mouth.
"Don’t talk about them," the first boy said, a shiver running down his spine. "Those guys are monsters. They’ve got the top five locked down. I never want to meet them, even with you around to help me."
Even working together was useless. He knew a powerful descendant could still kill them, no matter how many weaker opponents they defeated.

The descendants were frightening, but even more dangerous was the family behind them. Even if they could somehow fight those descendants together, they couldn’t afford to kill them.
"Don’t worry," the larger boy said, shaking his head lightly. "I was just talking. I don’t want to run into them any more than you do. That’s why I picked this domain. The owner hasn’t left his territory in four days."
"That’s right. Even after all this time, he didn’t try to leave his domain. He is most likely a coward, and a weakling," the lean boy said, his grin returning. "We can take over his domain easily and grab more points. The top ten is within our reach!"
There were no official prizes for being in the top ten, but they knew it was a major achievement, something they could boast about for the rest of their lives.
Soon, they reached the boundary of their domain. On the map, they could see the mark of the other domain’s owner, who didn’t seem to be far away either. It was as if that person was also approaching them.
"Even if he is a coward, he doesn’t seem to be a fool. He has already noticed our presence. Prepare to kill." The bulky boy clenched his fists, and his body began growing even larger.
His form transformed into that of a giant, standing fifty feet tall. Even his skin had turned to an unbreakable stone.
He stepped forward and entered Elias’s domain. The lean boy followed behind.
He started floating in the air as his eyes started shining in a golden shade. Even his hair started changing colors, and turned brighter like the sun. The flecks of snow that even touched his body, evaporated.
....
"This wasn’t it either. Just where is his domain?" In an entirely different place, Rey Esterin was sitting on the back of a bleeding boy, who was struggling to breathe.
He let out a tired sigh, and conjured a ball of condensed flame, an element that he had just started to comprehend in the last four days.
He got off the boy, and tossed the ball of flames at the boy. As soon as the ball of flames touched the boy, his body started burning, his painful cries echoing loud. Even the falling snow couldn’t stop the flames to save him.
With the boy’s death, Rey’s score increased in the rankings again. He again took back the first place on the rank, winning another domain.
He shifted his attention to the next domain, and started flying with the help of his wind element. It was as if he was eager to find something, or someone.
