Legend of Dragon Son-in-law-Chapter 2325: Death Diary
Crack!
The flames on the blade were forcibly extinguished by two people.
These two sacrificed their bodies to suppress the fire of the Underworld.
The darkness returned once more.
No light remained.
Swoosh!
Julius Reed once again invoked the power of the Green Snake!
Twice in quick succession, the Green Snake showed signs of awakening.
At this rate, he feared that in a few moments, he would be dragged into the Green Snake’s awakening.
The Underworld fire started burning again, but it couldn’t withstand the multitude.
As long as one or two people sacrificed their cultivation and their lives, they could briefly suppress the flames of the Underworld fire.
Suddenly.
Julius Reed thought of a solution.
He stood still and extinguished the Underworld fire.
His body was enveloped in a shroud of Evil Qi!
Immediately afterward, he leaned into a corner, using the Shadow of God to cover himself.
It was a risky move, but it was the only option at hand.
The Shadow of God had no consciousness of its own, and could still be controlled by Julius Reed.
Shadow, in essence, doesn’t exist.
Thus, Julius Reed, wrapped in Evil Qi and covered by the Shadow of God, vanished.
The approaching individuals halted their steps.
They glanced around, searching for the uninvited guest.
The crowd became agitated.
Some even became so agitated that they began to kill each other!
The Eye of God slowly opened.
Julius Reed’s heart skipped a beat, surprised as the Eye of God voluntarily presented words once again.
’This solution that even I didn’t think of, you discovered. I must admit, you’re clever. I like clever people. When you meet the God, you will surely die, and the God will take me as well. So before that happens, I will help you.’
’For now, I won’t awaken the Shadow of God. Clearly observe, my power is only enough to last one minute.’
The next moment.
The surroundings lit up!
It was as bright as day!
Yet clearly, there was no light in this dark place.
In the sky, it wasn’t a full moon.
Instead, it was a giant, red searchlight!
Above the lamp, flames were burning.
Inside, it wasn’t burning anything other than piles of wood.
This wood seemed to have been burning for a long time, as Julius Reed couldn’t see signs of it burning out.
It was precisely the red light from the burning wood that drove the people below away.
The transition from full moon to crescent was due to this gigantic searchlight—or should say, the colossal flame’s light being obstructed.
Below, a golden disc rotated slowly, descending into darkness periodically.
Now, it was truly dark.
Julius Reed observed the disc’s rotation speed and made an estimation in his mind.
In around ten minutes, it would brighten here.
Without the Shadow of God, surviving ten minutes would be a challenge for any human.
The people here were, at worst, of Great Grandmaster level!
Were they previous ancestors of the Dragon family, placed here when they were half-dead?
Julius Reed speculated, turning his gaze around.
The surrounding walls were lined with upright coffins.
The coffin lids were all shattered, seemingly from the inside out.
Every coffin bore a painting of a golden dragon.
The golden dragon was a symbol of the Dragon family.
They were indeed the ancestors of the Dragon family, and the third son of the Dragon family hadn’t lied.
But what was the purpose of placing them here?
Julius Reed continued to watch.
There were also words on the walls.
At this moment, the Eye of God acted like a telescope, making even the smallest text readable!
Every coffin bore a name.
All shared the Dragon surname!
Some had inscribed these words on the walls.
’I know my fate is nearing its end. The miraculous power of the two waters seems to have vanished. For hundreds of years, we remained healthy, immune to all poisons, even becoming Dragon Tamers.’
’But ultimately, we reaped what we sowed. Two or three hundred years later, we fully transformed into monsters.’
’My blood became turbid. At this point, drinking any water made no difference. It appears that this is our destiny.’
’Some of us face it calmly, choosing death, while others refuse to die, even fearing death! They believe in miracles, believing that hope can be found here.’
’But I don’t believe it. I was the first to suggest coming here. Everyone came, but some died outside. I envied those who died outside, as they didn’t have to endure such agony.’
’I wish to die too, but I can’t, because the descendants of the Dragon family inexplicably turned out the same. They didn’t drink the water; the problem must lie in us. We drank the water from that place, bequeathing this problem to our descendants. Our progeny will perish!’
’The cost of slaying a dragon is too great. Though we are Dragon Slayers, we are not gods. The miraculous water brought glory to the Dragon family but also led it to ruin. Survival has become incredibly difficult.’
’Each Dragon family member is born into suffering. Endless torment and despair also accompany them.’
’I brought them here, claiming to await hope, but in truth, there was never any hope. My intent was to trap them here; remaining in the Dragon family would eventually lead to disaster.’
The first piece of writing was lengthy, illustrating the author’s despair and serenity.
Even so, there was a hint of acceptance.
Julius Reed looked again.
’After just seven days, they grew restless and clamored to leave. They wanted out of this cave, not to dwell within. But only I knew what staying here meant. It was... death. Awaiting death.’
’Half a month passed, and the people here went mad, wailing in anguish, howling in pain, clawing at themselves, bodies soaked in blood! They despaired, and emotions began to unravel.’
’In fury, they smashed the coffins and turned against me.’
’They wished to escape, but it was no longer possible. The entrance was tightly sealed, and there was the burning Thousand-mile Wood. The Thousand-mile Wood always instilled fear in me, an indescribable, instinctive fear.’
’Now, the Thousand-mile Wood was ablaze.’
’Everyone had gone mad; I couldn’t even tell who they were. Reality proved my conjecture correct; remaining in the Dragon family, the family would surely vanish. We should die here rather than harm our kin.’
’I couldn’t bear it any longer and chose death... I could witness the completion of my plan, but not the day these martial masters walked out... Dragon Pattern, final words!’
Julius Reed’s gaze shifted, landing on a corpse.
A mummified body lay there, a knife embedded in its neck.
He was pinned inside the coffin, dead for an untold number of years.
Suddenly, the text changed.
All were unfamiliar to Julius Reed.
Soon after, the surroundings plunged into darkness.
Julius Reed realized the Eye of God was converting text but had run out of power.
Red light emerged.
But just a trace.
The surroundings grew quiet.
