Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 72: Mixed Guilds And Deadly Wager.
At the Association Headquarters, Chairman Victor Hordes was having a meeting with Liu and Keith.
"So there is going to be a mix of Guilds on the weekend, make sure that the guilds I pair up will be assigned their roles and duties." The chairman was trying to fix something before the weekend.
"Sir, we have paired all the major guilds, now left are two mercenary guilds- The Ghastly Ghouls led by Nathan Cruz and the newly formed Broken Blades Guild led by Theo Sung." Keith pointed out, he dropped the file on the table.
"Those two? Isn’t there any other mercenary guild we can pair with them?" Liu sounded worried. He remembered what Darius told him Nathan did to them during their first raid together.
"No, why do you ask?" Keith turned to Liu, he was not sure what was going on to make him ask something like that.
Liu looked up, he turned to Keith. "Do you remember that uncharted dungeon that occurred five months back? The first place we saw Darius Winters up close."
"Yeah, the dungeon that was ranked D, but it turned out to be uncharted. The ghastly ghouls, Theo Sung and Darius Winters, were the warriors who went in for the raid. But Nathan Cruz and his ghouls said that there was a monster inside the Dungeon that made it hard for them to even do anything."
Keith was looking at Liu, still wondering what it was that was bothering him. "So why did you ask?"
"Darius Winters confirmed that Nathan tried to kill both him and Theo Sung; they were not even part of the raid. Once they saw the main boss’s cave, they blasted him inside." Liu explained, Keith was shocked to hear something like that.
"So you are saying that Nathan is?" Keith was looking at them, he thought that it meant that Nathan would try to finish the job. "So is he going to be stupid enough to try and finish the job?"
"I don’t know, but he is clearly not going to be sitting tight with Darius and Theo there. He would try to do something stupid, and we both know there is no way for a fight not to break out."
"That’s right, some warriors who went on raids with them did complain that they were rough and deadly. They would often push the warriors to face the monster. But mysteriously, all the complaints were always removed after a few days." Keith could recall when he would get complaints about the Ghastly Ghouls and their dangerous modes of operation..
Liu could feel it; there was going to be trouble, and there was nothing they would do to stop it, except if they were going to be looking for other matchups. "The Cruz family is a dangerous one to mess with, I bet they are the ones who would always make sure it is taken down. How are we going to..."
"So what if they are dangerous?" Victor spoke up, he was looking at the two sitting beside him at the table.
"Sir, they are one of the only families who have produced more than five S-ranks and seven SS-ranks; they are known to be the highest till date, and doing anything to anger them would mean, if anything should happen, it is not going to end well."
Liu was looking down, he didn’t know what was going to happen if there was a clash with Darius and Nathan.
"If anything goes overboard, then we have failed awfully as an association," Victor spoke up. He was looking at Keith and Liu, and his face said it all; he was not going to be afraid of what was going to happen.
Keith was worried. After hearing what Liu had to say, he knew it was really a dangerous game letting Nathan and Theo’s guild go on a raid together. He was going to do his best to talk the chairman out of it.
"But chairman, it would be taking a huge risk, and risks like this usually don’t end well for the weaker side. The Cruz family has influence here and overseas, so what if they call for help from international warriors?"
"Nonsense, nothing will happen to him for now, at least." Victor was looking at both of them, he knew they were going to be confused about what was happening and why it looked like he was not worried if the warriors were going to fight.
"If we keep letting warriors like Nathan roam free, then it would mean that we are supporting them and we don’t care what they do, and the law is beneath them. For long, that is how some warriors have been acting, Low ranks suffer, if you are anywhere close to an A rank, you will be toyed around, and it is not usually something we would be hearing of."
Victor was looking at a file on his table, a look on his face suggested that he had something on his mind.
"So let’s do this," He turned, looking at both men. The idea was clearly something risky, but he was going to be placing a wager on it. "Let this be Nathan’s second strike, we have summed up all his evil in the past as one big strike."
"Strikes?" Liu was looking at Victor, there was no telling what was going on in Victor’s head. "What are you planning, sir?"
"Simple, we all know he is as slippery as the spineless slug he is. So he would find a way to crawl out of the trouble he is going to cause for Theo Sungs and Darius Winters on the combined raid, so we will be there to stop any fight from happening." Victor placed a piece of paper on the table.
"So you want to see the reaction of the entire raid team that day? " Keith’s eyes widened. He had a feeling he was catching up to what Victor was trying to do.
"Bingo, there would be no way for him to deny it in front of more members." Victor brought another paper, he had a smile on his face. "Make sure that four more solo warriors of all ranks can join in that raid. Then I also want you to make sure it would be an A-ranked dungeon or better yet, an S-ranked dungeon."
"Sir, what are you trying to do? There is no way this is a good idea." Liu looked at Victor, uncertain about the outcome of everything he was planning.
"I know, but something needs to be done to see if we are going to be getting a new generation." Victor smiled as he stood up, he was looking at them. "A new generation of warriors who would not make life unbearable for others."
