Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 66: Eerie Cries From The Abyss
Down on the east side of Creston, there was another shift in mana, but this wasn’t something the association would pick up immediately.
A dark, malevolent portal had torn through the fabric of space and time, opening a rift in the city. It was causing an imbalance in the area. Distorting reality around it, all the stray animals in the area took shelter, running for their dear lives.
If listened to closely, blood-curdling shrieks could be heard coming from the portal, like the wails of a thousand lost souls crying for help.
Two beings appeared out of nowhere- Cerion and Callous. Immediately, Callous pulled out a staff, trying to hold back the rift.
"Hold them, Callous!" Cerion was conjuring a mana pool, he was about to cast a spell to hold in the beings that were trying to break into the mortal realm. The brothers were having a hard time even holding the spatial portal down.
"I am doing my best here! These monsters want to break into this side, and there is nothing we can do if they come through this time!" Callous gritted his teeth as he held his ground; the waves coming from the portal were strong.
"Divine Gatekeepers..." An eerie voice came from the other side of the portal. Cerion and Callous looked up as they swallowed.
"How long do you think you can hold us from coming into that realm? Urus is coming, and we will lead his legion and march until the powers of chaos are in our hands!"
"You little abyss cunts dont know when to call it quits?!" Callous kept pushing the portal back, he was not going to take his eyes off them.
"Come on, if Urus wanted to take the powers of chaos for himself, why didn’t he come here? Or is he still scared of Slav?" Callous mocked them, but he was struggling to hold it back.
"We know Slav was killed by that warrior, the one who has the powers of chaos growing within him. We will take it from him soon!" The voice spoke with more intensity.
Callous slowly raised one hand and brought out his middle finger. "Tell Urus we send our regards. I hope I do not have to smell his gut-wrenching stench soon."
"Callous, move out of the way!" Cerion ordered, and he had conjured up what he needed. His eyes glowed with an enchanting white and gold color. "Back Into The Abyss! Seal!"
A high surge of mana came from his hand, shutting down the portal immediately. Callous slowly sat on the floor as he held his chest, his breaths were slow and paced.
"Their powers are getting stronger, I could feel it." He looked at his hands, which were trembling; something dropped on his palm.
It was a golden ooze falling from his nose, Callous slowly wiped it off.
"You’re bleeding brother," Cerion was looking at him with the same cold, distant eyes he always had. He walked close. "They are getting more powerful than we give them credit."
He was looking at his brother, Callous knew Cerion was equally worried about what was coming.
"It won’t be long now, if they strike like this again, I am not sure we would be able to hold them from walking into this realm."
"If they do that, then the war is going to begin anyway." A voice rang from above, the brothers looked up to see a mysterious being wearing a white cloak laced with golden runic threads.
The mysterious being jumped down, landing in front of the brothers. His face was covered, only his nose and mouth could be seen, but it was barely enough to reveal who it was.
"And what is a disciple of the gods of Order doing here?" Callous had a disgusted look on his face. He got up, looking at the being. "Did you leave your position to come lecture us?"
The disciple’s laughter, his voice sounded like a soothing melody used to make children fall asleep. He looked at the brothers, not hiding his joy at seeing them. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"No, I felt the rift the children of the abyss were causing, so I came to see what I could do before it got out of hand. But it turns out that both of you have settled it already."
The being walked to where the portal had opened, he raised his hand as if he was touching something.
"They are feeding off despair coming from each realm, their powers are getting stronger. It’s only a matter of time before Urus makes his first move." The disciple turned to look at Cerion.
"He is not ready to face them. Can you hold them for a while?" The being spoke to the brothers, it sounded like a plea, and it was a bit serious.
"Huh, what’s this? A disciple of the great gods is now asking for help, I thought you lot didn’t interfere in matters except when it affected the realm where your lords rule." Callous scoffed. He looked at the being, and he could see that there was a hint of concern in his actions.
"And why do you care if something happens, and what do you want with the mortal? You seem to know that he is not ready for this. I take it you’ve met him." Cerion spoke up, his tone still cold and unchanged.
The disciple turned to Cerion, a smile could be seen on his face.
"He is almost a split image of Ashran, but he is different from him. The boy doesn’t wish to flaunt his powers around, and he is keeping them grounded." He shrugged his shoulders.
"Hmmph, he will have to use it sooner or later. We can’t hold Urus and his army back for long, so we would need him to be at his top form. Which means we will be opening more rifts for him." Callous scratched his head, he looked up. "Oddly, his existence alone is causing the realms to shake, they want to know what he is going to do and where he would stand."
The disciple laughed a bit, he looked at the brothers. "You don’t need to worry about him turning evil. Darius Winters seems like the type of person to avoid power with all his might."
"He sounds like a lively one, so you met him. I wonder why you didn’t kill him where he stood. The gods of order might have moved on their throne, knowing you didn’t do anything." Cerion smirked while looking at the disciple.
The disciple turned to him, he placed his finger on his lips.
"Isn’t it obvious? The true form of order is chaos. Plus, I want to see if Slav’s gamble was on the right one."
