Chapter 145: Trial Of Water Part 9: The Main Match, The Corpse Stirs!

Darius flew to the temple door, staring at it. He knew that he was going to be faced with a hard decision, and there was one way to make sure that he wouldn’t lose anything.

"Here goes!"

He moved closer to the door without touching it, and the doors of the temple opened ..

[Entering The Sanctuary Of The Drowned Wyrm!]

Darius braced himself for whatever it was he was about to see.

On entering, he could see an altar and the Dragon statue there. He could feel the calmness in the air like that felt at the shores early in the morning.

But then, in front of him stood a knight dressed in sea blue armor. Her long red hair contrasted with the color of her armor. On her hands were two crescent blades.

"How did you walk in here?" She sounded surprised to see our young warrior walk into the temple like there was nothing meant to hold him back.

Darius turned and looked at the door, turning back to her.

"And here I thought you opened the door with your magic so—"

The Knight stomped the ground with a foot, shaking the temple with immense power.

"I asked you a question, how did you get in here?!"

She roared, the wind from her speaking could have pushed weak warriors back. But Darius stood his ground staring the knight dead in the eye.

"You think that will scare me, oh please." Darius shook the water off his face, looking at the seven-foot-tall knight in front of him.

"I wonder, what did Thalryia make you go through all these years?"

Darius knew that he was threading on dangerous grounds, but the knight wasn’t taking him seriously making it look like they were playing a game all the time.

Staring at the warrior, the knight couldn’t shake something off.

No one had ever entered the sanctuary unless they were sent by the Dragon King herself.

"I will ask this only once and if I don’t get the right answer. I will end your life here!"

The knight gazed at the warrior in front of her, he was anything but flashy carrying two swords like he couldn’t hold himself back.

"What happened with Aya?"

A smirk slowly took form on Darius’ face, he looked up at the knight in front of him.

"I fried her up..."

Without hesitation, the knight sent two massive slashes at the warrior. Darius dodged both of them, taking his stance.

"Such a feisty spirit." Darius was about to move when he couldn’t, his entire body was hijacked and it was like there was something crushing him from the inside.

"You defiled the order of the realms when you took that power, you tainted the name of the Dragon King of Flames."

She spoke as she walked close to him, her eyes on the warrior.

"I won’t allow you to do the same with the Great Thalryia."

"Why...can’t...I...move?!"

Darius was still trying to move his body but there was nothing he could do.

The knight was in front of Darius, slowly raising her blade to the air. Looking at the warrior, she measured their size and could see that he wasn’t a figure for her to be worried about.

"Since you are about to die by my blade, I will tell you..." The knight placed one of her blades close to Darius’s neck. "I can control the water in everything around us, including your human blood."

Hearing this, Darius knew that he wasn’t going to be able to overpower her.

"This is your end, child of chaos!"

"Never!"

Darius let out a powerful wail, which pushed the knight back a few feet.

[Cries Of The Fallen Sage Activated!]

The knight was shocked to see that the warrior had an ace up his sleeve and decided to act like nothing was going to save him.

"If those party tricks are all you have then be prepared to die!"

The knight took a stance, her blades pointing at Darius.

"I am Acier, Champion of Water, I am the tides of a raging sea, the untamed waters of Arthria, and the blade of Lady Thalryia."

She took a step forward, her blades dragging on the floor.

"You will fall here!"

Darius cracked his knuckles, raising his head to look at Acier. A smile on our young warrior’s face, he was wary of the knight in front of him.

"Well, all those names won’t help yah." Cracking his neck he took a stance, ready to fight the knight.

"I am Darius Winters, or as your great gods love to call me...Child of Chaos. And I am not about to lose to a water lizard’s servant."

Acier took a step back, and her blades began glowing bright blue.

"Brace yourself mortal!"

Darius unsheathed Ve’xa, a gritty smile on his face. His stance was well balanced and his next moves were already calculated.

"Ready when you are water lady!" She snarled.

Both of them dashed for each other like gladiators in an arena, their clash sent ripples through the temple.

The main event had just started!

Meanwhile outside the temple, Theo was still standing with the others. He knew that there was no way for Darius to say something that might not happen.

His eyes moved around trying to see if he would find anything that would help him spot the problem.

His mind went back to the one they faced back in the dungeon with the Orcs.

"I wonder why you let Darius enter that Temple alone, It is dangerous and he might need healing." Michael was worried, he couldn’t shake off that Darius entering a scary temple.

"I agree," Raya spoke up, She didn’t see the reasoning there and why he would want to risk his life. "He is one man, and I feel a diabolical energy coming from that place."

Theo was worried, but he didn’t want to add to his teammates’ worry.

He turned and smiled. "Don’t worry, he’ll be fine."

Theo couldn’t shake the thought of Darius in danger off but then he had to have a little faith.

Pryion stood there not saying a word, It was a bit too quiet and he had gotten a message from Darius before they came back up with the other warriors.

"My liege," He thought to himself, trying to push away from the thoughts of a child of the Abyss showing up. "I don’t think your fears are going to manifest."

Pryion turned back to the warriors trying to see what was going on with them.

Deep inside the crater, Aya’s corpse lay cold and immobile. Suddenly black tendrils could be seen taking form close to the corpse, her hollow eyes began to turn black...

The corpse stirred.
