Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 136: Signs of Trouble
Darius and Theo started heading for the site where Liu had binged him the location; he was not ready for the fight yet, but then there was something on his mind.
It was a conversation he had with Azree; it was not the normal thing he would have expected, but then there was something about it that made no sense.
Ten minutes before they left the house...
Darius was trying to get his head back in order. He didn’t know what the vision meant, but he was seeing something that no one would deny was something a bit out of the blue.
"What in the world was that?" He was looking at his hands, trying to know if he would see anything that would help him decipher what he had seen, but then there was nothing he could even think of.
About to step out, it flashed in front of him again; he wasn’t even sure that there was going to be something this painful in his life again.
Stopping, Darius pulled his hair, crying in pain; the vision was clearer this time, and it was not trying to be hidden or anything.
Darius could see what was waiting for him, and he knew that there was something else.
"What is this?!"
He couldn’t control it; he was seeing a dark, eerie being holding a spear. Words to explain the pain Darius felt were not there, but he was looking at the being in front of him, and he knew that it was connected to Deliri.
"I dont know what or who you think you are, but I will make sure that..."
"That’s what?" The being silenced, Darius, it was as if he was waiting for him to make the mistake of speaking.
"Because you managed to kill my little brother?" The being began to cackle, his taunting laugh covered where he stood, and he was looking at our young warrior, trying to see if he would be able to break him.
"You think that there is going to be something you would do to take me down?"
The being pointed its spear at Darius, revealing a deadly smile. "I don’t know what you have been consuming to make you think that there is a chance for you to even beat me in a fight."
Standing up, the being let Darius see that he was not as small as Deliri; he was a whopping 11 ft tall, and from what it was showing, there was more to it than just the terrifying height.
"Now then, if you believe you can best me the way you bested my brother, then I will be waiting for you to show up and deliver the blows that are meant to kill me, and I won’t be holding back anything like my stupid brother did!"
The being roared. Darius didn’t know what or which child he was looking at, but he knew that there was something going to happen if he was not careful on that raid.
Standing in the room, Darius knew that he would be playing a dangerous game taking the team with him, and he knew that there was a chance that they would be badly hurt if nothing was done right.
"I don’t want to lose them; I can’t handle this with them there." He stood there looking at the floor, his mind clouded with images of his team suffering blow after blow and still trying to walk through with all of it.
Vivid images, Theo, Michael, and Raya were all dead, and he was staring at their dead bodies, and his mind was already putting it together.
"There is no way for me to even push past all of this..." Darius’s legs were shaking while he was trying to get ready for the raid, and it was not like him to be that scared of anything.
"I cant risk them being there with me. I dont know why I feel that—"
’It is only natural you are afraid of the unknown, Darius; you are human after all.’ Azree quipped.
His voice brought a little bit of peace to the young warrior’s hazy mind. He didn’t know what he was going to be thinking of the next minute.
"But is it possible that I will be able to protect all of them from what is coming?" Darius let out a cry; he was not sure what he was going to do.
’Who told you to be worried about them?’ Azree asked, sounding like he was not even sure what was going on in Darius’s mind at the moment.
’Even you should know that you will not be able to protect everyone, and you should try your best to fight a battle that you would not regret. If you dive in with the intention to keep all of them safe, then you are bound to lose one soul, then when you think it is not going to be over, you will lose everyone you truly care about.’
Darius sat there; he could not even bring himself to imagine that there was something going to happen with his friends, and he was not going to be able to endure it like that.
"What if I want to protect them? What if that is what I want to do and make sure that there is nothing going to happen to them?!"
’Then be prepared to die...’
Azree sounded cold; our young warrior didn’t expect to hear something like that from Azree.
’Darius, if you are going for the Trial of Water, then you should know this. They are there to help you and not even hold you back, but then if you think you are doing this to protect them, then you will pay with your blood.’
"Darius, it’s time to leave!"
Theo called out, breaking Darius from his thoughts.
Darius sat on the floor for a few more seconds; he was not sure what was going to happen, but he knew that there was no way for them to join him and not get hurt. It was not going to be possible, so he was going to be keeping it to himself and praying that they wouldn’t do anything that would put them in danger.
He got up, looking at the walls in his room. He knew that there was no way for anyone to keep him far from what was going to happen. He would need to make sure that nothing would go a bit out of hand for them to control.
"Darius, what’s the hold up? We are going to be late, and you know I need to complete some paperwork before we enter any dungeon!"
Theo yelled one more time, and Darius clenched his fists, his eyes locked on the door, knowing that there was no way he would be losing anything when it came to that.
"I will be there!"
Present time...
Darius and Theo had gotten to the site; Liu and Keith were there already. So were Raya and Michael, and from the looks of it, they were all geared up and ready for a fight.
"The Broken Blade Guild," Keith was looking at them; he was not sure how he felt about them, but it was clear that he was looking at a bunch of powerhouses put in one house.
"Mr. Keith, I thought there was something I needed to sign before we would be given access to this dungeon?"
Theo spoke up, looking at Keith with a smile on his face. He got a nod from Keith as he saw the man pull out files from his back.
Liu walked to Darius; he used his head to point to the other side, showing him that he wanted to have a conversation with him.
Darius understood and walked with him to the other side; he was not going to be keeping them on hold.
Once they were at a far enough spot, Darius turned to Liu to see that the man had a cold expression on his face.
"Mr. Chen, is something wrong?" He asked, looking at the man in front of him, trying to see if he would find out what was going on.
Liu let out a sigh; he was looking at Darius, and he knew that there was something more disturbing to tell him than just the dungeon talk. "Darius, this dungeon is far stronger than the other ones. I want you to come back the way you normally come back, Darius. Standing with a smile on your face..."
Darius was shocked that Liu was telling him to come back alive like that.
"What on earth did you see there?" Darius was looking at Liu; it was not clear what they were going to be facing, but he knew for sure it was not something that anyone would want to get tangled with, and there was no way he would want to underestimate it.
Liu turned to the dungeon gate; his eyes were locked on it like he was seeing something other than it.
"Something deadlier than the beasts you have been facing lies on the other side."
