Leanna-Chapter 258: [LEANNA] 3.3
He shot her a smile before he resumed typing on the computer. Once everything was inputted, he entered a code that would seal the entrance forever.
Sealing his only means to see her.
He didn’t care.
He knew by the amount of commotion they did a while back, this place was already compromised.
He would never gamble her safety for his own selfish desire.
Not in the past.
Not in the present.
Not in the future.
"I did go inside Heaven’s tower multiple of times before," he continued, "I got to say the securities of that place were top notch. I was almost found out the first time I tried." He breathes a laugh.
"You’re probably wondering what I’m still doing at this place . . . but I think you already know the answer by now." Then smile on his face disappeared.
Once he entered all the codes, he set the timer to take off in ten minutes.
He wanted a little more time with her, even though it was selfish of him to desire that. She was already vomiting blood, but he still wanted to be with her.
Even for just another ten minutes.
Somehow, he was relieved and saddened at the same time. Relived to know that she was really safe inside Heaven’s Tower. Saddened because no one knew like he did just how much they couldn’t be together. This was not about the place nor their differences anymore.
It was their body.
If she couldn’t live in the surface –– he too couldn’t live at Heaven’s Tower for a day.
But that didn’t stop him. He still went to Heaven’s Tower to search for her using the very same platform he would seal. Wanted to know with his very own two eyes if she was really there, safe and sound. That was only when his soul could find peace.
It was all that mattered.
She is safe . . .
Once she is in Heaven’s Tower, the poison in her body could easily be treated, and she would be in top shape in just a day.
He approached her and carried her tiny body in his arms before he caressed her face with so much love it only intensified the pain.
"I’ve set the timer. In ten minute . . . the platform will take you to Heaven’s Tower." His long callus fingers, with sharp nails almost like claws, pressed her soft lips. Wanting to kiss her so badly.
"W-who . . . are you . . . ?" Instead of feeling repulsed, the girl wanted to know why the man felt so familiar.
Her body and what was left of her natural organs were poisoned and were rotting as death slowly crept in. But strangely, at this very moment, she never felt so much alive . . . in this stranger’s arms –– in this man’s embrace.
Sin smiled, his eyes filled with yearning.
"At the beginning of everything, we were just sprites. I was a fay, and you were a pixie. At the age of man’s conquest, I was known as general Vladimir, and you were named Iraya. At the age of modern technology and science, I was called Cain Fay, and you were named Leanna Lee . . . And now, at the age of desolation and destruction . . . I was named Sin."
The girl wanted to ask more, but her vision blurred as droplets of water fell one after the other. She tried to speak, but no sound was heard. She had difficulty in breathing much less opening her mouth. All she could do was to stare into his eyes, hoping he understood what she wanted to say.
"Sin! Bring that Heaven’s snub out now!"
The silence was pierced with loud yells and noises.
"Ya’ got the nerves to hide such precious treasure fer’ yer’ self!"
"Imagine all the food we can eat if we held her hostage. Those rotten slimes at the Tower fetch a hefty price."
Sin brows furrowed deeper as his eyes closed.
Even just a little time with the woman he loves was denied to him.
Is this the karmic sin I accumulated from what I did in my past lives?
He held her hand, pressing it on his lips.
"I will give up everything just so I can be with you for a moment’s longer, my love. But knowing that you’re safe and alive is enough . . . It’s truly enough . . ." He gently, yet firmly kissed her forehead before letting her go and went for the exit.
The girl didn’t know what just happened. She wanted to reach her hand to him. Wanted to stop him. Wanted for him to go with her –– together.
But she was too weak and helpless. She laid there on the platform while her eyes could only follow his back as he went his way into the exit without looking behind.
Sweeping the Kunks with his eyes, Sin estimated that there were twenty at least. Half with weapons. Even for him, this was too much.
His lips curved in a weak smile.
He already expected someone had seen them with all the ruckus they made, but he didn’t expect that this situation would happen so soon. At least, he projected their pursuers need an hour or more to reach where they were.
Two minutes and the platform will rise.
"Sin! Hand over the girl, and we promise not to kill you."
Sin remained silent. They were standing a bit of distance from him, but with the Kunks speed, it would only take seconds to reach him.
"Sin! Don’t be so arrogant! You can’t take us all!"
Sin snorted. "You won’t know until you try." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Don’t say we didn’t warn ya’!" One of the men raised his hand and snapped it in Sin’s direction. "Attack!"
Sin’s body flex in a fighting stance.
Like hell, I will let them step even a meter at the gateway.
Even facing death, he wouldn’t let anyone harm the only person who made his frozen heart beat to life.
Thirty seconds and the platform will rise.
Sin took one final glance at the girl who was bathing in tears and blood. His eyes glistened with unspoken feelings. His lips quavered, forcing out the words. After this moment, he wouldn’t have any chance to ask her.
"N-name . . . your name . . ."
The girl’s tears fell without stopping. The indescribable longing and sadness crushed the life out of her. Though weak and suffering, she pulled all her strength. Even if it were the last words she’d say. Even she died forcing the words out.
She didn’t understand what she was feeling. Didn’t understand how a mere Kunk she just met could mean so much to her.
But she didn’t care. At this very moment, at this very point in time, at this very tiny spec of a second, all that ever mattered . . . was him.
"S-Sal . . . Sal . . . vi . . ."
The back of that familiar man as he glanced at her, smiling while his frosty eyes were filled with silent emotions, was the last scene her eyes took in. The last memory her brain desperately carved in her heart –– before his back faced her, protecting the entrance with his life as the Kunks surrounded and attacked him from all sides.
The platform took off, and everything went still as darkness engulfed all light left in his eyes.
You really are my salvation in whichever era we reincarnated.
