Last Wizard King's SSS-Level Magic system in Modern World-Chapter 101: Accompany me- Part 1
Chapter 101: 101: Accompany me- Part 1
Breakfast was an affair Liam hardly got to enjoy these days. He was always in a hurry to get from one place to another because of his busy life.
However, since Liam had finally decided to quit his job, he had a lot of free time on his hands to plan what he was going to do.
"Do you have a day off, Liam? In that case, would you like to accompany me somewhere? Don’t worry! It’s not a dangerous place for you to be at. I won’t dare to put you in danger."
Elder Erin asked as he watched Liam relax on the couch and watch TV.
While it looked like Liam was relaxing, in reality, he was focusing on his inner mana and training it. The TV acted as a distraction, and Liam had to ignore it to focus on his training.
But he did decide to pay attention to Elder Erin’s words and stopped his training for a minute to look at him.
"You want to take me somewhere? Sure, I will come along."
Liam’s instincts told him that it would be a good idea to form a close relationship with Elder Erin. The older male seemed to have deep pockets as well as a lot of knowledge.
So Liam should make good use of him for as long as he could.
"Good to see that you are in high spirits today. We shall head out in a few minutes. You should change into outside clothes."
Elder Erin commented before extending his hand toward Liam to pull the younger man to his feet.
Liam reached for him without realizing that he still had his mana circulating inside his body. A current passed through his hand and into Elder Erin as soon as their hands touched, and Liam immediately pulled back.
Elder Erin had made a weird face when he looked at Liam. It was not an expression Liam appreciated being looked at with.
"Hey, you... do you know how to use magic? That feeling... it felt as if magic passed through me when we touched."
Liam stiffened as soon as he heard those words. He felt like he had to lie now, especially since he had come this far saying that he had no magic.
"Huh? Did something happen when I reached out to grab your hand? Was it not a simple static shock? I don’t know anything about it."
Liam was quick to establish himself as someone who did not know much, and Elder Erin bought his shallow acting.
"Hmm, maybe I was mistaken... or maybe you are not aware of your magic powers yourself. There are cases where Wardens get in touch with their magic when something big happens to them. Maybe your case is something similar. Let me check again—"
Elder Erin reached out toward Liam, and his hand felt like a claw of doom. Liam felt like he had to get out of the way of that claw, but his feet felt frozen solid.
Move! Hurry up and move! I should not let that hand touch me!
Just when that hand was about to touch his face, someone smacked it away from him. Asger’s familiar form appeared in front of Liam and hid him from Elder Erin... as much as that small body could hide anything.
"Don’t touch my contractor. I don’t like having others leave prints on something that is mine. Do you understand, old man?"
Asger asked in a tense voice. For a second, it felt like a fight would break out between the two, and Liam was getting ready to interfere (or run) when Elder Erin straightened his back and pushed himself away.
"You are right. I apologize, Liam. I became a little too enthusiastic when I realized that you might have awakened as a magician. It would be a big moment since this phenomenon rarely happens. But let’s forget about it for now. I have a feeling our little friend here would tear me apart if I tried anything."
Elder Erin backed down, and Liam let out a relieved sigh.
"Tsk, keep your creepy hands to yourself. My human is not for experimentation. And also, I will accompany you both wherever you are heading. I don’t trust you enough to leave you alone with Liam anymore."
Asger commented as he maintained his hostile and agitated stance. He stood between the elder and Liam and made his presence more commanding than before.
Having the half-dragon stand there made Liam feel safe, and even the elder wizard looked uncomfortable before he ultimately bowed his head in front of Asger’s wishes.
"Alright, you can come as well. But make sure to brace yourself and not expose who you are."
The elder firmly emphasized before he gave Liam and Asger time to prepare.
Liam’s heart calmed down slowly, and he threw himself back on the couch.
It had been a close call. He did not know what Elder Erin had been about to do to him, but Liam had not had a good feeling about it. He felt thankful that whatever it was, it was no longer going to happen... most likely.
Liam listened as Asger muttered warnings under his breath, his golden eyes narrowed with suspicion. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"That old man isn’t someone you should trust. He reeks of someone who acts for the so-called greater good. If sacrificing a single person meant benefiting the majority, he wouldn’t hesitate. And right now, we don’t know where we stand in his plans."
Asger said, his tail flicking in irritation.
Liam hummed in agreement.
"Yeah, I got the same feeling. He’s the type who’d justify anything if it meant getting the results he wants."
Asger gave him a sharp look, waiting for his conclusion.
"But I’m not in a position to challenge him. Not yet. Even if I have power, I lack everything else—knowledge, experience, connections. If I make a wrong move now, I’ll be the one getting crushed"
Liam sighed while speaking.
Asger crossed his arms but didn’t argue. He understood the reality of their situation.
