Last Ruler Of The Empty Throne-Chapter 150: New changes II
The battlefield sprawled endlessly, a chaotic symphony of crashing waves, clashing powers, and unrelenting roars from both beasts and warriors.
In a remote quadrant of the underwater war zone, sea creatures tore through each other with relentless fury. But a discerning eye would notice something strange—the movements of the dead beasts weren’t random. They obeyed commands, like puppets on strings.
Standing behind them, orchestrating the chaos, was John. His once youthful aura had taken a grim turn. He now held a sinister-looking tome—the Griamore, a dark book pulsating with unknown energy.
With it, he no longer relied on the System. Instead, he engraved spells directly into the book, allowing him to summon and manipulate the dead independently. His powers had evolved beyond reliance; he had transcended the limitations of digital frameworks.
But the cost was visible. His appearance had deteriorated rapidly. Where others grew more radiant with power, John grew pale and gaunt. His skin clung to his bones, his hair turned a deep shade of obsidian, and his nails blackened like ink-stained glass. He now bore a striking resemblance to the dark magicians of ancient fables—an omen of power and dread.
Despite his ominous transformation, there wasn’t a soul on the battlefield who wouldn’t envy his might. John was no longer just a participant in the war, he was the war.
A lone man with the destructive capacity of an entire battalion. With the first step into the First Realm, he gained the terrifying ability to sustain an undead army indefinitely. He no longer needed to be at the heart of the battle to wield their power, they answered to him from wherever he stood.
If one were to question the source of his dominance, they would find the answer in his ultimate companion: a colossal sea serpent of the Second Realm. Towering and ancient, this serpent served as both guardian and general of his undead forces. Together, they tore through the aquatic battlefield, each fallen sea creature becoming a new addition to John’s ever-growing undead legion.
But John wasn’t alone.
By his side fought Simon, the warrior of duality. Once erratic with his ability to double his speed and strength, Simon had evolved. He mastered control over his volatile powers and gained a new passive skill—Perfect Balance. With it, he could now maintain equilibrium even while doubling his physical stats.
Following that, Simon unlocked an array of double-passive skills: Double Reflex for reaction time, Double Endurance for stamina, and Double Instinct to heighten his awareness in combat. His transformation was profound.
Now, each move he made was lethal.
"Double strength, Double strike," he whispered with a clenched fist.
BOOOOOM—
His punch tore a fist-sized hole through the chest of a Level 51 Shark man, blood spraying like mist. And he didn’t pause. With Double Speed, he dashed toward another enemy and struck it down with surgical precision. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
In mere seconds, he annihilated two Second Realm Sea creatures.
But the tide quickly turned.
An enormous octopus lunged at him from behind, its massive limb tearing through the seafloor. Simon barely dodged, rolling to safety, but five more sea creatures charged in from multiple directions. He wasn’t fast enough to handle all five.
Just as the claws of death reached him—
BOOOOOM—
A massive waterball surged into the fray, blasting the attackers backward. The sea serpent had intervened.
"What are you doing!?" John’s voice roared as he guided the serpent from a distance.
Simon nodded, grateful. "Sorry."
He stood and pulled out a shimmering cap from his belt, placing it firmly on his head, and wore a pair of gloves. His stance shifted, his aura sharpening. Two treasures activated: the General’s Cap, which allowed him to perceive the best tactical path in battle, and the Stormforged Gauntlet, a relic created by Old Mason. The gauntlet could channel destructive shockwaves with each punch.
With these tools and John’s sea serpent beside him, Simon plunged into the horde of enemies, his fists crashing like thunder, shockwaves rippling through the sea.
Unbeknownst to them, the two had caught the eye of the mysterious Stargazers. Their exploits qualified them as potential recruits.
Meanwhile, the battle stretched elsewhere.
At the perimeter of the battlefield, near the towering sea walls, Tomen, once hailed as the Speed Lord, stood tall as a battalion leader.
His role was critical: no sea creature could be allowed to breach the walls.
"Flash Strike!" he bellowed.
CRACKLE—
Crimson lightning burst from his hands, electrocuting the invading monsters. Unlike the jellyfish’s blue electric aura, his lightning was intense and red-hot, cutting down dozens at once.
For over thirty minutes, Tomen and his battalion repelled wave after wave of attackers. When the sea calmed, his men finally relaxed.
"Well done as always, Battalion Leader Tomen," a subordinate saluted.
"Haha! You think so?" Tomen laughed, scratching the back of his head.
His easygoing nature endeared him to his men. He wasn’t just a leader, he was their leader: approachable, powerful, and trustworthy.
"I’ll be back for a moment." he walked away from the group and reached into his cloak, pulling out a small circular device.
His expression then twisted into something darker as he spoke into it.
"He’s not here. I’ll escalate things soon. Prepare to move."
Click.
He pocketed the device, put on his usual grin, and rejoined his men.
...
Somewhere beyond, he knew, the central battlefield awaited.
The center of the battlefield was hell incarnate.
Explosions rocked the terrain without pause, and the very land had been dented 500 meters deep. Sea water rushed in to fill the void, only to be vaporized by ongoing clashes. It was here that the strongest fought.
At the forefront was Alexa.
Once a warrior driven by trauma, known for avoiding direct confrontations, she had undergone a brutal transformation. Her fighting style was no longer elegant; it was monstrous. At some point, she had thrown away her spear and taken to brawling with her bare fists.
BOOOOM—
She landed with four times her body’s strength, sending shockwaves rippling through the ocean. Her armor activated, unleashing her gravitational domain. Within 10 meters, everything slowed by fifteen percent.
It was her prized treasure, a rare System artifact that manipulated gravity.
Instead of increasing her weight to land heavy blows, she reduced it and layered gravitational fields to enhance her movements without damaging herself. Using gravity, she became twice as strong, without consequences.
"Bone Crush!" she roared.
Her punch collided with a triton’s fist.
BANG—SNAP!
The triton’s hand went limp, and within seconds, his ribcage shattered from the pressure, tearing apart his internal organs.
"Zero Pressure!"
Gravitational force slammed onto the enemies. Their movements slowed, weakened, and compressed; they stood no chance.
Alexa tore through them like a fury incarnate, first realm, second realm, it didn’t matter. Blood coated her form like war paint.
She was unstoppable.
Until—
[YOU ARE EVOLVING TO THE SECOND REALM]
Time paused for her.
Alexa stood still, in the deepest parts of the battlefield as her body underwent its next transformation. The battlefield held its breath.
