Last Divinity: The Advent Of Dreams-Chapter 39: Meeting Others

Khali woke up before sunrise, it was time to go. The sun was yet to rise but the night dwellers had retreated into their hiding holes.

The others woke up with him, he was only going to take 2 trucks and four cars with him on this trip.

He now had 31 combatants, in the past two years only two children reached the age of 15, one girl and one boy.

The girl became a mage and increased the number of mages to 8. Fortunately both of them chose to be combatants.

Of the 31 combatants he was bringing 20 with him not counting Viona. 17 warriors and 3 mages counting Freya.

He was going to bring his strongest, Lucas the fire mage, Cecilia the wind mage, her younger sister Amelia the short wind warrior who uses daggers.

And Garo, the huge earth warrior who wields a mace and shield, the twins Ken and Kemmi who wielded spears.

Ken had fire affinity and his sister Kammi had water affinity. With them he took 13 other warriors.

Viona was already a given, he also took Sebastian, they loaded crates on the back of the trucks. Each of those crates were connected by a wire.

That was because they were tiny freezers and they carried food. Vegetables, fruits and even meat.

On the other truck they had clothes and other stuff. If they find people there they wanted to give them a valid reason to come with them and join him.

He didn’t want to use violence to convert people into his religion so bribery would do just fine.

After loading everything they bid goodbye to the others and took off. The glass gate opened slowly letting the sun come in.

Naturally nobody was in that area when that happened. The two cars Infront took off first then the trucks followed.

Each car had four people except the one with Sebastian which had five, with the trucks having only the driver and one passenger. He was in the first truck driven by Amelia.

Viona was in the second truck driven by the big guy Garo. The windows of the cars were the one sided mirrors.

So the sun was not an issue for them, the solar panels on top provided the electricity for the cars.

On the roof there were other things, black cylindrical objects. The trucks had two and the cars had only one.

" Deploy sand sleds." He said through the comms. " Roger." Replies came back from the other vehicles.

They drove through the desert sands smoothly at a leisurely speed. He had no idea how far the mountain was.

But based on observation it was about 100 to 200 kilometres away, he figured they should reach it in about 3 to 4 hours at most.

Their journey there was uneventful, it was during the day so naturally no attacks came as everything feared the sun.

Even they were forced to use air conditioning in the cars to feel comfortable. Even with their strength, it wasn’t fun being confined in such a small space like a car’s interior.

After a few hours the mountain became visible. Khali studied it from afar, the mountain was not much different from theirs.

There was a cave entrance near the base, the entrance was even smaller than the one they had.

It was obvious they were trying to stop larger creatures from coming in. Near the base were dried up corpses of clickers and large scorpions.

It was obvious there was a fight here, however the fact that they killed so many meant there must be multiple awakened in there or really strong ones.

" Proceed." He ordered, the cars drove forward and stood Infront of the cave entrance.

The slope to the cave entrance was steep but short so it wasn’t too inconvenient to park their cars there.

" Deploy umbrella shields." The cylindrical objects on the roof opened up. From them black silky cloth like objects shot out.

These were umbrellas made from fire proof material that was highly resistant to gamma radiation as well.

Unfortunately they lacked a lot of the elements he needed as he couldn’t find them in the subterranean world.

Therefore the material that was used to make these was not perfect. It can stop gamma rays for about an hour.

It was unfortunate that he couldn’t make them out of steel but steel was too heavy, he couldn’t fold so much of it into such tiny cylinders.

Even the cars were too heavy, rank 2 iron that was used to make the steel is much heavier than normal and rank 1 iron.

So the amount of energy needed to move the cars was higher than he would prefer, fortunately the sun provided that energy itself. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

After the shields were deployed they went out and walked to the cave. Garo took the lead with his shield.

When they got in they found a lot of men facing them with rusty weapons. Most of these men were skinny and obviously very tired.

Infront of them stood two people, a muscular warrior with 5 node strength and a woman with red hair in dark robes.

The two visibly shook when they felt their power. They knew they couldn’t win, his own soldiers raised their guns.

He raised his hand telling them to lower their weapons. He leaned towards Sebastian,

" You’re up."

Sebastian stood forward and spread out his arms with a smile. " Greetings lowly ones who know not the light.

You pitiful lambs who know not the joy of dreams, rejoice for your suffering and ignorance ends today. We come to you bringing the word of the great lord.

The one who stands above all, he who shines through the dreadful night like a beacon, the guide of dreams and lord of magic.

Khaladrel the great God of Dreams and Magic. Under his great and majestic hand even the lowliest of you shall prosper.

Now kneel and pray with all of your hearts. In your sincerity your prayers shall be answered, your deepest desires and your greatest dreams shall come to be."

Sebastian shouted so loud his voice spread across the entire cave. Everybody stopped what they were doing and looked at him.

Khali felt his mouth twitch.
