Laid-Back Life in Tokyo: I Really Didn't Want to Work Hard-Chapter 915 - 536: Christmas Eve Approaches (Part 4)_2
Hanamaru Yugetsu paused to calm himself a bit.
"Never mind, give me another drink, please."
The old bartender looked at his indistinct earnest demeanor, sighed despite himself, and turned to select a drink with low alcohol content, mixing another cocktail for him. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
At the same moment, a short-haired girl in blue and pink sneakers walked in through the bar entrance. She had her hands in her pockets, trying to find something in the bar.
Hanamaru Yuuki entered with a curious gaze, scanning the place until her eyes fell on a slumped figure at the bar after glancing at the colorful and crazily noisy dance floor.
Uncle Yugetsu.
She immediately recognized him.
However, today he seemed drunk?
Hanamaru Yuuki approached and sat beside Hanamaru Yugetsu. The old bartender opened his squinting eyes and glanced at the girl who sat down.
Hanamaru Yugetsu was shaking his drink, his face flushed red as he hiccuped again.
As he continued to shake, he suddenly noticed someone sitting beside him and was startled. After calming down, he frowned and took a closer look.
The bar’s dim lighting made it impossible to see faces, only some outlines were visible.
"Sis...?"
He couldn’t suppress his excitement, his voice trembling as he incredulously asked the shadow before him, "You... you came to find me? And... why do you look so young? Did I time travel?"
As he spoke further, Hanamaru Yugetsu seemed a bit happy.
Hanamaru Yuuki didn’t smile but turned around, placing both hands on the bar, and said softly in a disappointed tone, "It’s me, Yuuki, Uncle Yugetsu."
"Yuuki?!"
Hanamaru Yugetsu sobered up instantly, rubbed his eyes, and stood up immediately, looking at the girl before him in disbelief. "Why, why are you here? This isn’t a place for kids like you."
Hanamaru Yugetsu looked back a few times and suddenly found the dance floor unbearably noisy; urged on by his intoxication, he stood up and shouted towards it, "Stop! Everyone stop! So annoying!"
No matter how many times he yelled, the DJ’s music only grew louder, and his voice could not reach the frenzied crowd over there.
Seeing her uncle’s drunken state, Hanamaru Yuuki quickly went to pull him back.
"Why stop me? Those things aren’t for kids like you to see!"
"Those things... I’ve seen them plenty in the UK." Hanamaru Yuuki glanced at the dance floor with a normal expression.
"You’ve been to bars in the UK?" Hanamaru Yugetsu returned to his previous spot, frowning as he asked Hanamaru Yuuki beside him.
"Yes, I’ve been, several times."
"What did you do there?"
"Play around."
"Play around?" Hanamaru Yugetsu couldn’t help but remark, "Yuuki, not to lecture you, but those aren’t good places, all kinds of people are there, isn’t it better to stay at your art school? Did nothing happen to you there?"
"Nothing happened..."
"Really nothing?"
"Really nothing, besides, didn’t you visit me once before? Nothing happened to you either."
"That time? That was ages ago, and back then I was with your mom, you didn’t even know where you were—ah, forget it, why bring these things up."
"Really nothing happened?" Hanamaru Yugetsu asked after a long silence.
"Really nothing happened."
"No one harassed you?"
"There were a few, but my classmates in the UK chased them away."
Hanamaru Yugetsu frowned, staring at Hanamaru Yuuki for a long time under the colorful lights of the neon, noticing something amiss, "You wouldn’t be in love with someone, would you?"
"I’m interested in falling in love..."
"Your mom wouldn’t agree."
"I know," Hanamaru Yuuki said.
"Why did you come to this place?"
"To drink with you, Uncle."
"You’re still underage!"
"I’m about to be an adult, and in other countries, I’ve already drunk, though I don’t like it... Uncle, I’m not happy today, let me have a drink."
Hanamaru Yugetsu stared at her for a long time and asked, "Are you sure?"
"Yeah... but not too strong, I’m afraid no one will take me home if I get drunk."
"Alright then! Since the girl wants to drink, Uncle agrees!"
Hanamaru Yugetsu signaled to the old bartender, casually named some cocktails, and gestured for the bartender to prepare something like juice instead.
"You sly dog..." The old bartender shook his head with a smile and promptly prepared several tea-infused drinks.
Hanamaru Yugetsu turned his gaze to the somewhat melancholy Hanamaru Yuuki, "Tell your uncle everything, I support you even if no one else does!"
Hanamaru Yuuki lowered her head, the dizzying dance floor music pounding in her chest:
"If I tell Uncle that I like my brother-in-law, will you help me?"
"Your brother-in-law? Which one?"
"Hanabi’s husband."
"Sakura, huh!" Hanamaru Yugetsu immediately recalled, "Wait, why do you like your brother-in-law?"
"It’s... not liking him like that... it’s just that he’s so good to sis... If she’s hungry, he’ll heat up food for her; if she’s cold, he’ll hold her, and he often talks to her, playing and joking together."
"They do seem to have a nice relationship... so, have you been with them recently?"
"Yes." Hanamaru Yuuki nodded.
"Strange, your mom should have locked you at home."
"I left, told my mom I slept with a middle-aged man, and she got so mad she threw me out."
"Ha—??!" Hanamaru Yugetsu’s voice shot up high and sharp, then he quickly lowered it as he realized something, "Really?"
"Of course, it was fake..."
"Would your mom believe it?"
"I hired a rent-a-boyfriend online, that so-called middle-aged man, and took a photo with him to send to my mom; she believed it."
"Yuuki, you’re something... but it’s true, your mom changed after getting married, like a different person after having you."
Hanamaru Yugetsu smiled at her, reaching out to lightly pat her back, "But, as a young girl, even if you’re different from your sister, being a bit rebellious is nothing."
"Uncle really treats me well..." Hanamaru Yuuki said in a depressed tone.
"Haha, as long as you know, all those times during school, I didn’t bring you food for nothing!"
Hanamaru Yuuki turned her head, looking at Hanamaru Yugetsu’s indistinctly smiling face, "Uncle Yugetsu, do you like my mom?"
Her question directly stunned Hanamaru Yugetsu.
"You... know?"
"Uncle Yugetsu has always been good to me, better than my dad even, and the way Uncle looks at my mom makes it easy to guess."
"..."
For such a thing to be known by a younger person, especially that person’s daughter, Hanamaru Yugetsu really didn’t know what to say now, awkwardly rubbing his nose.
"Hey, hey, hey, what a coincidence, isn’t it our Hanamaru Criminal Police?"
A guy with his hands in his pockets, slicked-back hair, and a scarred forehead pulled a high stool from the bar and sat beside Hanamaru Yugetsu.
"When I came in, I mistook you for some clown here, drunk and flirting with women." Ookubo Eiji’s robust right hand with a silver watch clipped a cigarette and pressed it into Hanamaru Yugetsu’s cocktail glass, "Unexpectedly, it’s an old acquaintance, Hanamaru Criminal Police."
Hanamaru Yugetsu gave the guy a glance, seeing he couldn’t make out who it was. Then, as he scanned again, he noticed there were several followers behind him.
Hanamaru Yugetsu furrowed his brow, sensing the unfriendly intent:
"What do you guys want?"
