Laid-Back Life in Tokyo: I Really Didn't Want to Work Hard-Chapter 865 - 510: Striving to Get Closer to Hanabi
Tokyo Art University Dance Room.
Even though it was already nine o’clock in the evening, the indoor fluorescent lights were still on.
"Hanabi, look, Uesugi is still practicing over there."
Hanamaru Hanabi slightly tilted her head and looked towards the corner of the dance room.
There, Uesugi Sakura was all by himself, shaking the mizutama in his hand, repeating the same rhythm over and over.
"He’s dancing pretty well." Ayaka Rie looked over and couldn’t help but say with a smile, "At least his arm movements look smooth, not awkward."
Hanamaru Hanabi silently stared at his back for a while, then slowly said:
"Sakura-kun seems to be working really hard today..."
Ayaka Rie nodded: "Yes, he is. He’s been here since around one o’clock in the afternoon. It’s been almost eight hours now. We even took breaks in between, but he didn’t rest once."
"Hey, Hanabi-chan, you and your husband, did you have a fight?" A girl who was practicing with them walked over to ask, her hair soaked with sweat, leaving just a sports top on after shedding the heavy clothing.
Hanamaru Hanabi was quite a well-known figure at Tokyo Art University.
The fact that she was married was known to anyone who paid the least bit of attention.
After all, there are not many girls who choose to get married right after turning 18.
Hanamaru Hanabi nodded: "Well... kind of..." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"Do you guys even fight?"
"Calling it a fight isn’t quite right. They haven’t actually fought." Kyujuu Rika followed the girls’ gaze towards Uesugi Sakura as well.
"Huh? If it’s not a fight, then what is it? It seems like Hanabi-chan and your husband haven’t been seen together these days."
"It’s a cold war," Kyujuu Rika turned around and laughed as she told everyone, "like when a young couple sulks at each other for not buying an extra cup of bubble tea."
The girls seemed very curious about such matters, laughing while continually asking Hanamaru Hanabi questions.
"What did he do to upset you?"
"Well... nothing much..."
"Come on, Hanabi-chan, spill it." One girl clasped her hand.
Feeling embarrassed under everyone’s enthusiasm, Hanamaru Hanabi subconsciously lowered her voice: "It’s just... that Sakura-kun hasn’t come home at night."
The girls gathered around all went "Eh——" in unison.
"He left you alone at home?"
"That’s too much."
"No matter what, he shouldn’t stay out at night now that you’re married."
"As expected, guys change after marriage, no matter how much they professed their love before, it’s all a lie."
Kitagawa Sakisa, always up for some entertainment, crossed her arms and laughed as she spoke to the gossiping girls:
"And it’s not just once! Uesugi hasn’t been home for a whole week."
...
"Lousy."
"Loser."
"Unreliable."
The girls first covered their mouths in surprise, and then words like "loser" started coming out one after another.
Uesugi Sakura, practicing on the other side, suddenly yawned.
"Is someone badmouthing me?"
He turned around and saw a group of girls gathered around Hanamaru Hanabi.
Could it be those guys?
At this moment, Hanamaru Hanabi quickly waved her hand to explain: "Well... not really, Sakura-kun is staying at the art research lab to study... it’s not on purpose."
"Even so, he shouldn’t go a week without contacting you."
"Exactly, exactly."
"No matter what, it’s a failure of responsibility, as a husband."
Once they’ve labeled someone as a "loser," it’s almost impossible to change their impression.
Hanamaru Hanabi tried to explain something, but everyone’s voices soon drowned out her opinion.
"Look at the mess you’ve caused." Taking advantage of the chatting, Kyujuu Rika pulled Kitagawa Sakisa aside, raised her hand, and punched her on the head, firmly pressing her head down.
"I-I just wanted to make a little joke." Kitagawa Sakisa stood back up, hugging her head reproachfully, "But what I said is true, isn’t it?"
Kitagawa Sakisa tidied the messy hair on her forehead, smoothing it out again.
"It’s not about whether it’s true or not, it’s about whether you should say it." Kyujuu Rika withdrew her fist.
"Oh, don’t worry, everyone’s not ill-intentioned, they mainly want to stick up for Hanabi-chan, right?"
"But didn’t you notice that everyone standing up for Hanabi-chan actually makes her feel awkward?" Kyujuu Rika glanced at Hanamaru Hanabi in the crowd.
"It’s because Hanabi-chan always thinks well of Uesugi. Even if Uesugi does something wrong, Hanabi doesn’t want others to comment on him."
Kitagawa Sakisa couldn’t help but think of her past self, "Awww, Hanabi-chan is so nice. She even gave me her lunch when she saw I was hungry before."
Kyujuu Rika sighed, "You’ve got it wrong, it’s not that Hanabi doesn’t want others to comment, she just doesn’t like hearing any bad words about Uesugi."
"That damn Uesugi," Kitagawa Sakisa got angrier the more she listened, "He doesn’t even treat Hanabi-chan well! You can’t trust a married man! I should have grabbed Hanabi myself! Why leave her to him!"
"Alright, alright, enough talking, we should rest a bit more before heading home."
"Fine, fine, I won’t argue anymore." Kitagawa Sakisa gleefully dashed to Hanamaru Hanabi’s side, smiling as she said to everyone, "Let’s practice one more time, then go home. It’s too late, what if you run into some creepy old man~~"
Kitagawa Sakisa’s quirky voice, combined with the fact that the girls in front of her were all naive and inexperienced, got them to start practicing again with her two prompts.
