Chapter 403: Always a daddy’s girl.

Mei Mei threw the paper down and declared, "I am not paying twenty three million for a frivolous lawsuit. I did not make that man pick up the squirrel. It is programmed to warn any thief to put it back down three times. After the third warning, the punishment is given. It is not my fault that he refused to heed the warning. I am not going to let this ruin my work-vacation." She turned her eyes to Muyang. "Daddy, help me deal with this."

Chi Lian rolled her eyes. The daddy’s girl was running to her father again! "I have a team of lawyers that is just as great as your father’s. I will put them on it. Anyway, I will be around for two days after you all leave for Australia so that gives me time to deal with this."

Mei Mei smiled sheepishly. "Thank you mom." She made a finger heart.

Chi Lian responded to it by scoffing.

The Empress Dowager got to her feet. The drama was over and she needed to head back to the palace.

Mei Mei headed back upstairs with Jingzhe to grab her suitcases. She wondered if there was anything else that she had forgotten.

Inside her bedroom, she fell back on the bed and sighed. "This day has been longer than I imagined. My shoulders feel so tight that they might crack if I roll them back."

Jingzhe got behind her and put her hands on the shoulders, "I will give you a last minute massage before you leave." He squeezed with the same expertise as that of the royal masseuse. "I really don’t want to let you go." He said softly.

The words reached her ears and made her smile. "All work and no play makes Mei Mei a dumb girl."

"Couldn’t you have played from home." He leaned his head on her back. "How am I going to survive without you?"

"Fix some more space ships, bake more cakes, design more underwear....." She narrowed her eyes. "How many more businesses do you have that I am not aware of?"

Jingzhe raised his head and went around her, facing her from in front. "I sent you an email that contains a list of all my business and how much they are worth. It also contains my confession about being Blue Galactic’s CEO. It was plan B if I could not bring myself to confess tonight?"

She raised her hand and bopped his nose with a finger. "You vixen, who gave you the idea of the headband and the sexy apron?"

"I am a genius." He answered, averting his eyes. He would never admit that he called mommy for help! "Mmm, I have a gift for you and Mingzhu."

He kissed on the cheek, hurried outside and returned a minute later with a bundle of shirts. All of them had pictures printed on the back. Him, Mingzhu and her looking like one happy family.

Mei Mei looked at one of the shirts and blinked. This was the loudest way to announce that one was taken. She ran her fingers through her hair and sighed. "Vixen, you might as well tattoo your face on my back."

"Can I?" he asked.

She pinched his ear. "Stop being crazy. Help me put the shirts in my suitcases and then drag them out. We should have been at the airport by now but we have been delayed."

Jingzhe pushed himself off the bed and got to work. He was smiling as he helped her. She had accepted the shirts and she was not talking about Blue Galactic. Maybe it was time to order for a ring. He would never give another man the chance to snatch her away.

It was 10:48 when the Jun’s/Chi’s and extra friends like Meihua and Siping descended on the duty-free shops of the airport like a swarm of luxury wealthy locusts. They were accompanied by pets and poor impulse control.

Most of the things they were buying were to be packed and sent back home.

The older women were choosing bags as if they planned to open a bag shop when they returned. Grandma Jun was choosing according to shape. Great grandma Jun was choosing according to color. Grandma Chi was choosing according to beauty.

The older men were buying perfumes, choosing brands from different empires and kingdoms all around the world. Great grandpa Jun had even picked out three walking canes for no reason at all.

Muyang was helping Mei Mei to choose watches, one for each day of the week. Not just for her but Mingzhu as well. Mei Mei had decided to buy for Jingzhe and madam Feng too.

They had accompanied the group to the airport and sent them off. Jingzhe had been sulking as he waved goodbye. Everyone had been waiting to see him acting emotional or sobbing some tears but he had been calm and cooler than anticipated.

Mingzhu was the one who cried instead. She only stopped because Jingzhe promised to join them soon. But in the face of shopping, she was not crying anymore. She was stomping in an out of shops with her cousins. Their group was wearing matching tuxedo rompers, black and white sneakers and headphones around the necks. They were the noisiest bunch, emptying rows of toys and candy as if this would be their last shopping adventure on earth.

The pets were mostly dogs and cats. They were behaving politely, very docile as if they had respect for where they were.

Thanks to their large size and generous spending, a lot of shoppers had paused their activities and decided to stare.

"Pack up every serum in here." Rose declared near a skincare aisle of a luxury brand. "And the lipstick, give me twenty boxes with twelve different shades in each."

She would send each of her friends a box.

Next door in a candy store, Liang mimicked her mother at the bubblegum aisle. "Pack up all your bubblegum, give me twenty boxes with different flavors in each. I will take it to school when the summer break is over and give all my friends."

Jun Yi was shopping for the pets in the meantime, those at home and the ones that had come along.

Black cards and platinum cards were being swiped left and right.

Mei and Meihua were choosing all the koala, kangaroo and alligator inspired jewelry they saw.

"Junjie won’t come and join us, right?" Meihua asked Mei Mei. "He is like your pet....then and now."

"I am giving two days maximum." Mei Mei answered. "Don’t be shocked if you see him and his daughters. But his wife died and his children need a break...." She stopped and grimaced. "He did plan a diplomatic visit to Australia while we are here on vacation. So....he is definitely coming."
