Kung Fu Baby with 17 Doting Brothers-Chapter 512: Peaceful Times
In the blink of an eye, it was lunchtime, and the three senior brothers still had some projects unfinished, so they had to remain fasting and entrusted the little junior sister to Wen Li.
Just after lunch, Tuanzi received a system notification; the mother and her two children were preparing to leave the hospital.
She quickly grabbed Wen Li’s hand.
"Hurry, hurry, Auntie and the kids are about to leave."
Wen Li matched her pace.
Actually, he had many questions to ask, but ultimately chose to remain silent.
Li Fang came out with her son after the check-up, then rushed to pick up her daughter who had finished her IV drip.
Leaving a child alone with others during infusion isn’t safe, but fortunately, there was a nurse watching over them the whole time.
Li Fang kept expressing her thanks, and only relaxed once she confirmed her daughter’s fever had finally gone down completely.
The little girl looked at her brother with concern, "Mom, how is my brother? He was doing well a few days ago."
Li Fang’s expression instantly turned bitter.
Her son was born mentally challenged; expecting his intelligence to recover to normal levels was difficult, but the doctor had also mentioned that with a little teaching, she could at least ensure her son would have self-care abilities.
With self-care abilities, he might even learn a craft and have at least the means to survive.
The premise was having someone willing to guide him all the time.
Li Fang often spent time with her son after work, and her daughter didn’t mind her brother’s slow wit, and after finishing her homework every day, was willing to play with him.
The long-term companionship made her son livelier, even able to speak some simple yet logical words. Prior to this, doctors had prepared her emotionally for her son possibly taking a long time to speak, perhaps only managing simple words.
Originally, everything was moving in a good direction, but then her daughter fell ill, which drew all her attention. Based on that, she expected her mother-in-law and husband to take care of her son, but it led to trouble.
"It’s my fault as a mother."
Li Fang carried her son out, with the little girl holding onto her hem, obediently following.
"It’s not Mom’s fault," the little girl emphasized, "You’re the best mom!"
Li Fang’s eyes reddened, her lips pursed without speaking.
She should have foreseen it; when her son was born and found to be mentally challenged, her mother-in-law and husband suggested abandoning him, how could they possibly take good care of him? As soon as she let her guard down, the two would abuse him, and wouldn’t her son’s condition worsen?
Feeling deeply guilty, Li Fang left the hospital with her children, intending to have lunch first.
The restaurants on both sides of the hospital charged too much, and the taste might not be good, so Li Fang took them across the street and had just picked a shop when her husband and mother-in-law jumped out.
"You finally came out, hand over the remaining money!"
The short, stout man looked displeased, "You don’t even earn much, and now you’re spending it on these two good-for-nothings!"
The old lady reached out to pinch the little girl.
Before her hand could touch the girl, it was repelled by some force.
She recoiled in astonishment, a gust of palm wind blew, and she stumbled back, stepping on her son’s foot.
"Wh-what’s going on?"
Sinking into feudal superstitions, she began to have wild thoughts, filled with fear.
Tuanzi quite wanted to keep scaring this old woman, but her senior brothers would soon finish their project, so she decided not to waste time on these nasty people.
Rushing out, she bared her teeth at the old lady and the stout man, "If you hit anyone again, I’ll call the police!"
The old lady and the stout man weren’t particularly bothered by her, but seeing Wen Li, a few words instantly floated through their minds.
Lingering spirits!
The lingering writer gracefully asked Li Fang, "Do you want a divorce from him?"
Li Fang was taken aback.
The stout man reacted first, "You dare to divorce? I won’t agree!"
In a few minutes, he changed his demeanor several times, first saying he wouldn’t agree to the divorce, then claiming he had ways to prevent her from getting a divorce, and arguing that nobody would want a yellow-faced woman with baggage like hers after divorce, he finally softened his tone and asked Li Fang to return home with him and live well. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Wen Li glanced at Li Fang’s expression, curiously asking the stout man, "Are you trained in face-changing tricks? Where did you study? I’d like to sign up for classes. Seems like this training course also teaches how to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing, right?"
The stout man was infuriated, "Mind your own business!"
Wen Li smiled, "I’m a meddler at heart, I love sticking my nose into other people’s business."
The stout man shouted at Li Fang, "I’m not signing the papers! Plus, remember, during the cooling-off period we’re still married, I can do whatever I want!"
Wen Li spoke to Li Fang as well, "Rest assured, you can directly file for divorce, without a cooling-off period, and if he threatens you and the children’s safety, you can apply for a personal safety protection order."
After saying this, he flashed a gentle smile at the stout man.
"Anyway, you guys won’t agree on property division, can’t settle the divorce amicably, you’ll eventually proceed to litigation. Might as well sue sooner rather than later, no need to thank me."
The stout man had a million curses to say!
Tuanzi stood by, stunned.
It seemed that aside from silencing the old lady, preventing her from speaking, she had no other role to play!
Observing Li Fang holding her son tightly, and the little girl showing signs of hope, Wen Li smiled slightly, "Don’t worry about the legal fees, I can help you hire a lawyer. Even if you don’t get all the assets, you can certainly secure custody of the two children and receive half of the property."
Regarding Li Fang, his demeanor softened greatly, relieving her worries and reminding her, "You have a job, leaving this family can actually better take care of the kids, can’t it?"
He had already noticed the boy had intelligence issues and needed caregiving.
"Instead of handing over your salary and letting them abuse your son, why not use that money to hire help? Or enroll him in a specialized kindergarten where teachers are experienced and fees aren’t high."
Such special child institutions are semi-charitable organizations, not abundant in number. Li Fang had simply never considered this.
Understanding her predicament, finding a breakthrough point, and proposing targeted solutions; as long as she nodded, willing to divorce, she could embrace a different life. Perhaps still very tiring, but certainly better than now.
Li Fang opened her mouth, intending to say something when she noticed the desperate stout man, impatiently starting to push Wen Li, scolding him for being crazy.
"Do you have money to burn? Helping random people find lawyers?"
Surprise flashed on the gentle face, "How do you know I have more money than I can spend?"
Pausing briefly, Wen Li smiled and added, "Actually, I’m willing to help find a lawyer and even pay for this expense because of you."
Tuanzi quickly pulled out her notebook; she had a feeling her cousin was about to say something particularly clever, something she needed to learn!
In the next second, Wen Li spoke with great tenderness, "Because I want to see you unhappy. Spending money to be happy is worth it."
The stout man’s face turned red with anger, one hand pressed to his chest, the other pointed at Wen Li.
Wen Li tilted his head to look at Li Fang, "No pressure, I’m not helping you guys. I’m indeed not fond of him, wanting him unhappy. If he’s unhappy, I’ll be happy."
Li Fang: "..." Is this what diverse good deeds look like?
A few seconds later, Li Fang helplessly said, "I can afford the legal fees. I...I would like your help to recommend suitable lawyers and the kind of kindergarten you mentioned."
The two began discussing right in front of the stout man.
The old lady was fully frightened due to her inability to speak, rendered powerless.
Tuanzi was busy writing and drawing in her notebook, while Li Fang’s daughter couldn’t help but sneak a peek, but didn’t understand it.
The system captioned this scene.
Peaceful times.
The old lady and the stout man are unpleasant, so everyone else can be fine.
