Chapter 17: Vesh Awakens

Rovina turned around and went inside.

She didn’t want to argue and get killed.

Most importantly, it was better to follow their instructions now that she knew these two people were utterly ruthless.

’We have to buy as much time as possible and prevent ourselves from getting killed until Vesh wakes up.’ Rovina decided on an objective.

"You are intelligent." Temu grinned at Arga and Kayan. "I have seen people who are arrogant and ignorant of their situation. Unfortunately, I don’t play games with those people since they are annoying. But I like obedient people."

"Come here, kitty, kitty." Quenila stretched her hand, trying to pat Kaeli, but seeing the chance, Kaeli bit her finger instead.

Quenila’s hand swooped in again, lightning fast, and grabbed the kitten. This time, her hand was glistening with Mana, and the moment she grabbed Kaeli, the kitten was trapped inside a magical water bubble.

"Got you." Quenila smiled.

"Rarrrrarrrrr! Hisss!!" Kaeli angrily hissed. Her body faintly glowed, and she rammed into the water barrier.

To Quenila’s shock, Kaeli passed through the barrier, and even Kaeli appeared surprised. But the kitten didn’t waste any time and turned into a swift shadow that entered Vesh.

This time, Kaeli went right back to her house—inside Vesh’s life nexus.

"Meow?!" Kaeli tilted her head, confused at the new thing that had appeared in Vesh’s life nexus.

It was a giant exotic golden wheel with eight curvilinear rectangular slots on the periphery, containing wisps of Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, Lightning, Wood, Light, and Darkness. Each slot released multiple strings of its elements into the middle as colorful undulated strings filled the wheel’s middle area, waving around chaotically.

...

"Huh?" Quenila frowned as she looked at Vesh. "How can a monster enter someone’s body?"

She looked at Arga and Kayan as if expecting an answer from them.

"We don’t know," Arga answered slowly. "The cat belongs to our lord here. He summoned it."

Temu grinned. "Haha, so this guy is the otherworlder lord. Should have expected it, given this shabby territory."

At this time, Rovina returned with Viana.

Although scared, Viana had made her decision. She was ready for this moment when she had decided to follow Vesh.

"I will come with you, so please, don’t do anything to the people here." Viana looked at Quenila and Temu. Despite being fearful and in despair at the inevitability of her fate, she was resolved.

"Ok, but take the cat out of him." Quenila pointed her finger at Vesh while looking at Viana. "I want you and the cat both."

"Please, just take me and be done with it." Viana bit her lips.

Arga clenched his fist, feeling humiliated and discouraged. ’If only I was stronger. Damn it!’

"Both." Quenila’s eyes turned cold, and she kicked Vesh hard!

Vesh flew and crashed into the gate.

Rovina’s lips twitched. She wanted to speak and even attack, but doing that would only hasten their deaths.

Their only hope was stretching this as long as possible until Vesh woke up.

"Hey." Temu frowned at Quenila. "The people here are mine. You get the bitch and go. See, that guy is still not awake despite being kicked, and the cat won’t leave him, so I’ll keep him alive and bring him there. Elder Forguin will know more about this and get you the cat."

"Sounds good." Quenila nodded and looked at Viana. "Alright, come and stand behind me."

Viana walked without hesitation and stood behind Quenila.

Looking at the ashen faces of Arga, Rovina, and Kayan, she ruefully smiled. "Honestly, the short time I spent here was the most fun I had in my life, so thank you."

Arga and Rovina teared up.

Kayan had no memories and suppressed emotions, but after living for several days here and then hearing from Viana that the three days she spent here were the most fun... it told him that her life was really miserable.

When asked about her, she simply told them that she wasn’t favored in the royal family because of her talents and was thus sold, but things must have been way worse than the few words she told them about herself.

"Hahaha, stop with the drama." Temu laughed. "It’s making me tear up from laughing."

Suddenly, wind whirled around Quenila and Viana as both of them were lifted within a whirling sphere of wind. Her Wind Mastery seemed to be C-rank, as there was no distinct imprint.

"Oy, eyes here." Temu grinned at Arga, Rovina, and Kayan. "You two adults, go and bring back the people here from inside."

"As for the kid, I’ll discuss with him what kind of game we should play."

Rovina, Arga, and Kayan looked at Temu while keeping their focus on Quenila.

She was flying slowly, so she wasn’t far enough yet. Not far enough for them to go all out against this green-haired fatty and kill him.

They were weaker than him, but it was three versus one now.

But suddenly, Vesh’s body stirred.

[Congratulations. You have attained enlightenment through the execution of a King’s Rule and created...]

His eyes opened while a crazy notification rang in his head, but there was also pain in his chest.

"What’s going on?" Vesh’s vision became clear from blurred, but due to his angle, the first thing he saw was the backs of Quenila and Viana in the sky as they were flying away.

"Lord!" Arga shouted as the trio turned around and dashed toward him upon hearing his voice.

"Eh? He woke up?" Temu blinked and turned back before shouting, "Quenila! He’s awake! Take the cat, so I don’t need to keep him alive."

"What?" Viana’s lips trembled. "Can’t you just leave them alive? What did they do to you?"

Quenila glanced at her. "Foolish question. Do you think such things when hunting animals and monsters? You do it because it’s a necessity to fill your stomach. Just like that, playing with people’s lives is Temu’s necessity."

Soon, both of them landed back next to Temu while Vesh was also informed of the situation.

"What do we do? Fight them to the death?" Kayan asked.

"Or do you have any plan? You’ve been meditating for two days." Rovina’s expression was somber. "The situation is dire."

"It’s do or die. That fatty wants to torture us to death through some kind of game." Arga’s jaw clenched.

Vesh blinked and dusted himself off. Stretching his arms and legs, he began walking toward the duo.

A strange vibration, noticed by no one, spread from him, attracting pure magic power as his Seed Force began increasing.

"Hi." Vesh smiled at Quenila and Temu. His eyes moved toward Viana, and his smile turned genuine. "You thought you could rush to your death without my permission? Nope."

Viana’s eyes trembled before tears streaked down her cheeks.

"Can you give me the cat that’s inside you?" Quenila asked.

"No way." Vesh pouted. "Kaeli is mine."

Kaeli appeared above Vesh’s head and angrily hissed at Quenila.

"She doesn’t like you anyway." Vesh smiled.

"This guy is strange." Temu rubbed his chin. "You think hiding your bodily and magical aura will make us think you’re some big shot? We already know you have less than 4000 Seed Force."

In the next moment, a glistening steel dagger with exotic patterns suddenly shot at Vesh and stopped right before his head.

Vesh didn’t even blink.

Temu grinned. "If I want to kill everyone here, I only need two seconds."

Shaaaa!

Ten additional daggers began floating above him in a circle.

Metal Mastery — A-rank — 19✧/20✧ Potential!

"Steel, huh?" Vesh looked at the dagger and smiled. Deep in his eyes at the center, an exotic, colorful wheel glinted into motion.

Quenila frowned. Mana flickered from her mouth as it moved, and her words were carried directly into Temu’s ears.

’Something’s wrong, Temu. Why isn’t he feeling threatened by us? Either he’s stupid, or he has something that makes him unafraid of us.’

Vesh blinked. He clearly caught the magical phenomenon and deciphered it. "That’s interesting. So you can let your voice travel through magic and send a message to someone directly into their ears. But your technique needs some improvement because I could easily hear the content."

Smiling, he added, "So, what do you think? Am I stupid, or do I have something?"

Temu and Quenila narrowed their eyes.

"Meow!"

Kaeli suddenly appeared above Viana’s head. Darkness surged out and wrapped Viana and Kaeli whole before they disappeared and reappeared inside the territory.

"So, what shall we do now? Play a game?" Vesh asked with a grin as he looked at his status. ’Am I really so strong now?’

[Vesh Auris]

[Life Rank: Seed | Seed Force: 3448]

[Combat Power: 38,170]

His Seed Force was increasing every second as well due to him using Arcane Cultivation, which in turn increased his Combat Power as per the calculations of whatever presided over this phenomenon.

But he was already shocked at his combat power, which was higher than the two before him!

’King’s Rule. I make sure that nothing happens to my people by wielding my new talent masterfully.’ Vesh decided to make a defensive King’s Rule only. As for fighting those two? he wanted to do it himself.

Arga, Rovina, and Kayan looked at each other.

What the heck?

Why is their lord behaving so confidently against two very strong people?

Their eyes couldn’t help but shine.

He had something good!

Something that could deal with this trouble!
