Kingdom Building: Civilization Starts with Divinity-Chapter 125: First Major Update(1)

Away from the heart of Alchemy’s colony, Melphite dropped onto her hands and knees as she let out a sigh of relief.

"I’m free!" She called out.

"Are you okay, miss Melphite?" Nera questioned.

In the end, she did decide to follow Melphite. She was a little worried about leaving Alchemy to her own devices, but she couldn’t be overly protective forever.

Even if she was there to protect Alchemy, without proper information, her Mother Goddess would be in even more danger.

"Haah... I’m fine. No wonder she’s Sir Gravana’s Disciple. She’s just as terrifying as him!" Melphite responded.

Getting up from the ground, Melphite dusted herself off before turning to Nera.

"What did you think of her, Blanc?"

"U-uhm..." Nera hesitated to answer.

She couldn’t say she didn’t see such a question coming, but it wasn’t one she was thinking about.

"She seemed... Caring?" She gave an honest answer.

"You think? Even after she threatened to take over the outer forest?"

Nera shrugged.

"I can’t say for sure... But she just seemed like someone who cared too much about her people to start needless bloodshed."

Of course, she knew from experience. However, Nera wasn’t sure how serious Alchemy was about the unification. Alchemy had made it clear that she wanted to take over the forest eventually, but the method of such was still unknown.

’Well... Old man Rio might already join her and that mutt is on good terms with Mother Goddess. That just leaves the bears.’

A peaceful takeover didn’t seem that far-fetched.

Melphite hummed in thought before nodding.

"That’s one way to look at it! I’m sure Misty will have an idea. She’s super smart!"

"Misty?"

"Yup! She’s one of the oldest Dryads in the forest. You’ll get to meet her after we go report!"

’Misteltein... Certainly a name fitting one of the leaders of the forest.’

"Here should be good! Hold onto me tight! The first time tends to make people sick."

"What do you-"

Before Nera could finish her words, Melphite placed her hand on a tree.

The wood began to warp and widen. As it did, a green energy began to swirl.

’A spatial gate? They can manipulate space... Oh, it seems I’m entering the tiger’s den.’

A small smile managed to escape Nera’s poker face. This was going to get interesting.

Holding Melphite’s hand, the two stepped through the portal.

"Welcome to Vanaheimer, Blanc!"

"That went... Well." Alchemy chuckled nervously.

"Mother Goddess... Was it really okay to send Miss Nera with them? What if they realize she’s a spy?" Sapphire questioned.

Stretching her body, Alchemy shook her head.

"Well, I can’t say I’m not worried, but the battle against the mimics made me realize we must extend our knowledge. Plus, Nera needs a place where her true abilities can shine. Her intelligence was being wasted here to be honest."

Although Sapphire trusted Alchemy, she couldn’t help but worry.

Seeing this, Alchemy patted her head.

"Nera will be fine. She’s our little cheat character for a reason. I’m more worried about you, though. How do you feel?"

"Me? I’m perfectly fine? See?" Sapphire answered quickly while prancing around.

"Oh yeah? Does that mean you’re prepared to put your all into being a hero of the Verminae?"

Alchemy’s words caused Sapphire to freeze.

"That..."

Sapphire looked Alchemy in the eyes, revealing a serious expression that her master had never seen before.

"You’ve given me so much already. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to repay you in this lifetime, but... If you’ll have me, then I will give my everything for you, my master."

The answer caused Alchemy’s eyes to widen. She was just making a bit of a joke before asking the serious question. She expected a positive answer, but not such a decisive one.

"Then in turn, as your Goddess I will grant you any wishes you have." Alchemy placed her forehead against Sapphire’s.

After sharing the moment, Sapphire left the hut so Alchemy could return to her ruminations.

"God... Hey Handler. Is it bad that these past 11 days still don’t feel totally real?"

|<That depends. Does it not feel real in a good or a bad way?>|

"A wonderful question."

Alchemy idly looked at her kingdom tab while thinking about all the events that have led up to this point.

She couldn’t believe it’s only been 11 days. It felt like she had months of experience already.

"Definitely good. Although there have been some bumps along the way, I can’t remember how long it’s been since I’ve felt so... Needed."

As she sat back in her throne, she considered her next move.

"Any info about the update?"

Before Alchemy could question her handler’s words, another notification had appeared.

She wasn’t surprised about the new methods of growing stronger. She WAS the first prospect to discover Aura and Ki, but these were three things of vastly different importance put together haphazardly.

"Are we just gonna gloss over what EXP being recalibrated means?"
