King of Hollywood-Chapter 231 - 229 Black Pearl
Chapter 231: Chapter 229 Black Pearl
Chapter 231: Chapter 229 Black Pearl
Having wrapped up the business at Pixar, Adrian quickly rushed back to New York. Not only was the shooting of “The Professional” nearing its end, but Emma had been left there as well. If he broke their agreement, the little one would certainly show her displeasure in her own way, and now there was no Atlantic Ocean between them.
On one occasion, Adrian had promised to play with the kiddo in the evening but ended up standing her up because of… um… certain matters. As a result, the little one started clinging to his pant legs wherever he went, refusing to be held, pouting her lips in a huff, which became a unique spectacle around the set.
It took a little over a week for “The Professional” to finally wrap up in New York. The remaining shots weren’t complicated, and with the actors already familiar with their roles, the process went very smoothly.
As usual, a small wrap party was held after the shooting ended, but sadly, Natalie declined Adrian’s invitation.

“I’ve fallen behind on a lot of schoolwork, so I need to take some time to catch up,” she explained. But as she spoke, her eyes opened wide and her mouth curved unnaturally upwards; after all, most schools across America were already on summer vacation at this time.
Adrian didn’t call her out on it, instead he simply patted her on the head, and this time Natalie didn’t dodge away.
“Although it’s a pity, it’s okay,” he said with a smile, “You’re the most talented girl I’ve ever seen, Nata. You’ve left a deep impression on me over this time, and I hope we can work together again in the future.”
“Thank you.” Natalie, who secretly breathed a sigh of relief, was about to leave, but after a thought and a sigh, she turned back and said, “I want to say, Ed, even though because of some things… but this period has given me a lot of different experiences, I like acting. Lastly, you’re a terrific director, truly.”
She spoke with a smile, her brows showing a touch of complexity, but the self-confidence and pride that were there when they first met had returned to her face.
Since the filming had just ended, Natalie still sported a bubble-haired look that made her appear both cute and alluring. Added to that was her semi-green, semi-mature attitude that made Adrian think back to the kiss they shared at the party. However, he refrained from any disrespectful action and politely saw the girl into the car.
Without Natalie, the party seemed more lively. Having kids—especially girls—around meant a lot of the games couldn’t get too wild. With the little one taken back to the apartment by Maeve early on, everyone was very open and cheerful, and naturally, some things couldn’t be avoided when the passion rose.
Thumping sounds echoed in the somewhat cramped room, mingling with the moans. Compared to the loud party outside, it sounded particularly lascivious.
“I knew it… you… wouldn’t let me go…” Charli was leaning forward, her hands on the wall, a drunken smile on her face with half-lidded eyes as she withstood the impact from behind and said.
Despite her words, the corners of her mouth were slightly upturned, sweat beads rolled down her nose, and her flushed cheeks bore the word “pleasure”. Her white shirt was rucked up, her bra pulled down, and her soft whiteness swayed rhythmically.
“Don’t say that, Charli. Weren’t you quite eager too just now?” Adrian said excitedly, grabbing her waist and suddenly changing pace, “Seeing how happy you look now is just captivating.”
“If I had known… at the party just now… I would’ve accused you of sexual harassment…” Charli gasped, grinding her teeth. His abrupt changes in pace were driving her insane, almost to the point of madness.
“Oh, hearing you say that really disappoints me. Didn’t we both enjoy ourselves at the party? Otherwise, how would we have ended up here?” Adrian chuckled, ramping up the provocation.
“Damn it…” Charli trembled, her stiff legs starting to weaken, “Oh, I really should have… stayed in Los Angeles… you’d be the one fretting over whom to date… Ah!”
Her voice shot up suddenly as Adrian quickened his assault while simultaneously lifting her right leg to grasp her softness. As she turned her head, he kissed her moist lips amidst the outer noise, beginning a more intense motion.
After finishing his business in New York, Adrian flew directly to Miami where the “Bad Boys” crew had officially started filming and were taking outdoor shots. Even though he had great confidence in Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer, he felt he should still check in. Besides, among the two black leads, there was a guy who was worth the investment.
One couldn’t deny that Jerry Bruckheimer was indeed an exceptional producer. Even though Don Simpson eventually got credited as a producer, the actual affairs were managed by Bruckheimer, who kept everything well-organized. Michael only needed to focus on shooting. Michael Bay wasn’t yet the powerful A-list commercial director he would become and naturally followed the arrangements obediently. Since Adrian had brought the two together from the start, they got along quite well, so the atmosphere on set was very harmonious.
As for Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, the latter was indeed as good at talking as the character he played. Most black people are naturally good at rapping and hip-hop, so they talk very fast. Martin, while having a rather funny look and a quick temper, was still very likable.
In comparison, Will Smith was much more serious. Although he also liked to joke and rap, he knew where to draw the line, making him seem quite reliable.
For instance, both of them showed the respect that Adrian deserved, after all, it was he who had handpicked them for the roles, but their ways of expressing it were completely different.
“I guarantee you made the right choice. I’ll show you what a real comedy actor looks like, Ed. Of course, I don’t mean Will didn’t do a good job—in fact, he did very well—only that I can do it even better.” Lawrence was as talkative as ever, chattering away nonstop, while Smith was much more straightforward.
“Thank you very much for this opportunity, Ed,” he said with just this one sentence, but his expression was very serious and earnest, and his tone was filled with sincerity. The difference in quality was self-evident.
No wonder Lawrence’s achievements paled in comparison to Smith’s. Although there were many factors at play, such as one hailing from the black neighborhoods and the other from the middle class, some differences in the way they conducted themselves were discernible.
There should be no problem with “Bad Boys”, Adrian thought as he confidently handed it over to Michael and Brokheimer to manage, but what he didn’t expect was a pleasant little surprise from this prematurely started film.
In one of the outdoor scenes in Miami, Smith, playing Lawrence, had to seek help from a female model he knew to watch out for anyone throwing big parties to celebrate recently. The model, having found a clue, went with a friend to a villa to inquire about it, only to discover that the host was actually a member of the drug-stealing gang, and the gang leader, who was unhappy with the associate’s ostentatious celebrations, came to the villa to take him out. The model was accidentally killed in the process, but luckily her friend escaped, memorized the faces of the assailants, and ran off to find Lawrence.
This model was a black woman, and Adrian couldn’t remember the actress who was originally cast for the role, but the one now was someone he recognized.
“I’m sorry, sir, I didn’t see you were here, I’m really sorry,” the woman hurriedly apologized while taking out a tissue, trying to wipe away the water that had splashed onto Adrian’s clothes.
“It’s okay, it’s okay,” Adrian waved his hand to stop her motion, then smiled as he took a tissue from her and began to wipe himself clean, “I wasn’t watching where I was going either, so don’t blame yourself.”
“But… Anyway, I’m really sorry, Mr. Adrian,” the woman was a bit flustered.
“I should be saying that too, you seem to have gotten quite a bit on you as well,” Adrian pointed at her clothes.
“Oh, yes.” The woman quickly found another tissue and started to wipe her own clothes.
“You know who I am,” said Adrian then.
“In this crew, who doesn’t know you?” The woman laughed, her tone slightly flattering, and although her white teeth starkly contrasted with her skin color, it had a different kind of attractiveness.
“No one has ever said that you have a beautiful smile,” Adrian crumpled the tissue he held into a ball and tossed it into a nearby trash bin, smiling as he spoke to the woman, “It’s like… a Black Pearl.”
“Black Pearl?” The woman raised her eyebrows and then coughed lightly, “Thank you for the compliment.”
“Let me think…” Adrian paused, looking at the woman for several minutes until she began to feel uncomfortable under his gaze, and then suddenly clapped his hands together, revealing a little surprise, “Halle Berry, right?”
The woman was slightly taken aback, but quickly laughed and shrugged her shoulders with open hands, “It’s not surprising you know my name, Mr. Adrian, you have the cast list in your hands, don’t you?”
“First, please call me Adrian or Ed; second, I haven’t yet looked closely at the other actors’ list. What came to my mind was Eddie Murphy’s ‘Boomerang’. Honestly, your performance in it was memorable,” Adrian said earnestly.
Halle Berry opened her mouth in surprise, a mix of delight and complexity showing on her face, “You’ve seen that movie, Mr. Adrian… I mean, Ed?”
“Of course, I’ve seen many movies, I always remember those actors with exquisite craftsmanship.” Adrian nodded.
“You sure have a way with words, Ed,” Halle said with a smile, brushing back a lock of hair from her ear.
“Hey, I’m speaking the truth. You nailed the crazy-in-love feeling of that female character; I could easily give you a detailed breakdown…” Adrian said as he began to count on his fingers.
In a corner of the set, a young man and a black female actor chatted intimately, the lovely Black Pearl laughing softly from time to time. Those unaware of them would think they got along well, those in the know, well… (To be continued, for more chapters please visit www.qidian.com, support the author, support genuine reading!)
