'As expected,' Nick thought. 'Any abilities that work outside my body need Prephyx or Zephyx as a medium. Since everything is filled with Star Energy, all my Zephyx immediately gets turned into more Star Energy.'

'However…'

The next moment, Nick used his ability to control energy and created a tunnel between him and the other engineer. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Then, he used his ability again.

This time, it succeeded, and Nick could actually read the mind of the engineer.

'However, keeping this tunnel active requires a bit of my concentration and also costs a bit of Zephyx. It's not a lot, but I can't refill my Zephyx wherever I want.'

'The greater the size of the tunnel, the more Zephyx and focus it needs. Right now, the engineer is only a couple of meters away from me, which makes it rather easy.'

'I have to experiment more when I'm inside the base.'

The organic ship continued traveling through space.

During the travels, the ship absorbed the Star Energy in space and used it to increase its speed.

'For the Ancient Ones, fuel was a big issue when traveling through space, but for the Amorphous Ones, it's no issue at all.'

'Due to the organic nature of this ship, it can convert Star Energy into Pure Energy. The only thing it needs is a tiny bit of Zephyx for the transformation.'

'The Pure Energy gets infused into the ship's speed, increasing its energy level, which just means it goes faster.'

'A kilo of Zephyx is probably easily enough to travel from Earth to another planet.'

'If the ship had to transport the Star Energy as well, it would be a different story. The ship would probably need to store tons of Star Energy. Luckily, space is filled with Star Energy.'

Out of curiosity, Nick wanted to look at space and at Earth.

However, there were no windows in the ship, and Nick's perception didn't work properly in this environment.

Nick stayed motionless during the entire journey, which took about an hour.

The ship was not slow.

Yet, it still couldn't compare to Nick's actual speed.

If Nick could use his body to travel through space, he could reach the moon within about a minute.

'But this is a ship for engineers in the Fourth Realm.'

'Daniel would probably only need two to five seconds to traverse this distance.'

As the ship approached the moon, Nick received a message of hormones from the ship.

'Their technology is very different from Earth's technology,' Nick thought. 'This ship has a rudimentary consciousness.'

'In terms of intelligence, it's about as intelligent as a Force Specter.'

'Based on definitions, this thing is definitely alive.'

The message the ship sent Nick was to ask for confirmation about landing.

Nick just gave his confirmation.

And that was it.

He didn't need to do more.

The ship had already learned how to land and where to land.

It would do the landing for him.

'This is not different from the AIs we created.'

Almost all of the machines Starbreaker Base had created worked with artificial intelligence.

The operator just needed to tell the AI what they wanted, and the AI would oblige.

Of course, there had been some issues with rebellious AIs in the past, but that was not a problem.

For the Ancient Ones, a machine uprising was probably devastating since all their power came from machines.

But for Starbreaker Base, it wasn't an issue.

Yes, AIs were controlling the machines, but that didn't mean that they were more intelligent than a powerful Nightman or Extractor.

Learning how to operate a machine manually was not impossible for an Extractor or Nightman.

It was just unnecessary.

During such incidents, some of the researchers isolated the AI.

These AIs worked with Pure Energy, Zephyx, and Star Energy.

Nightmen could control Pure Energy and Star Energy, while Extractors could control Zephyx.

If an AI rebelled, a fitting researcher would just directly affect the energy flow to disperse it.

The Ancient Ones also had issues with that, but it was solved rather easily, albeit costly.

It sounded like an incredibly dumb solution, but sometimes, the dumbest solution was the best one.

AIs worked with electricity, right?

Just pull the power cord.

In more practical terms, the Ancient Ones needed to manually shut down their generators while cutting cables from generators that couldn't be shut down.

When there was no more electricity, the AI couldn't do anything anymore.

Then, the Ancient Ones just cut the connections between different networks, keeping them isolated.

They reactivated one network after the other, eradicating every trace of the rogue AI before activating the next one.

And if that didn't work, they simply destroyed the machines that couldn't be purged.

Luckily, Starbreaker Base didn't need to go through that.

They just directly manipulated the flow of energy.

'This biological ship has the advantages of a local AI but not the disadvantages,' Nick thought. 'It lacks the power to replicate itself.'

'Even if it, for some reason, goes rogue, it will just be a single ship.'

After waiting for a couple more minutes, Nick felt the jolt of the ship being stopped.

Just like earlier, the ship charged right into a network of tentacles, which stopped it.

If this ship had emotions, it would probably be gleeful.

A moment later, the ship touched down and took on a stable position.

The walls of the ship parted, and the engineer behind Nick stepped out first.

Nick followed the engineer, and for the first time, Nick set foot on the moon.

As Nick looked up, he saw the vast nothingness of space.

However, there was one thing that immediately drew all of his attention.

The sun.

The actual sun!

It was so impossibly bright!

Its light was nothing like the light of the Sun humanity had known for the past thousands of years.

The light of the Sun was weak, foreboding, constant…

The light of the actual sun was powerful, radiant, and aggressive.

Nick could feel how the sun tried to damage his new body.

While a normal human wouldn't die immediately, extended exposure to the pure rays of the Sun would cause burns and genetic mutations.

Then, Nick looked at another spot.

The spot where Earth should be.

However…

He couldn't see it.
