Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1511: Burning Light, Hectic Brawl
Alain bit his thumb and shook his head side to side as he thought about the pros and cons of helping either side. After which, he began thinking about whether or not he should just ignore them and take care of other business in the area.
As he did this little action of his, though, he began to notice that a strange aura was filling the airspace around him.
"Hmm?"
This aura, for reasons he wasn't entirely certain about yet, made him feel as if he had no choice but to go into this battle at full force and rampage as violently as he could.
In other words, it was an aura that encouraged [War].
"Hmmm…"
On the one hand, he could easily use some aether and [Chaos] to mitigate this effect upon his person and be on his merry way. However, his [Pride] wouldn't allow him to do so. That, and he couldn't help but notice that the warrior leaking the aura that encouraged [War], just so happened to have an underlying energy to them that was quite similar to a certain girl he had dinner with not too long ago.
"I really should just forget about this whole thing and just let the fools tear each other to shreds without any input, but…" Alain trailed off as he stayed aloft in the air, the wings on his back starting to shimmer with a light that just seemed to inspire [ambition]. ' I think it would be better for me to take them both out and reap massive rewards from their smoldering corpses! If I play it right, I could have the people of Rainbowden think I am someone who avenged their fallen leaders! Bahaha!"
Coming to the realization that scorched earth could still be used for mining, Alain began to channel [Chaos] into his wings and cause them to grow in size and density. As the power in his transplanted wings grew denser and denser, the shadow of a multi-winged angel began to overlap with his mortal form.
[Chaos Art: Radiant Feather Storm!]
Flapping his wings in a decisive manner, Alain released a flurry of feathers that floated in the air for a split second before suddenly stiffening and surging towards the battling Lord Smoking Mirror and Rainbowden City Lord.
…
The moment Smoking Mirror attacked the City Lord, all hell broke loose in the sky.
The latter didn't appreciate the former's aggressive attitude and immediately made a call to his allies to assist him in taking down the aggressor. However, no such assistance had arrived.
"Hold on, old friend! We're coming to assist!"
"Ah, ah, ah! Not so fast you old fuckers!"
"Don't you mean new bodies?!"
Once Smoking Mirror started his attack, his subordinates, Macawdo, Halcon, and Peacocina, made moves to attack the seven leaders of Rainbowden's craft guilds.
Now, had Smoking Mirror not shown up, these three bird-brained morons would've been smacked into the ground and made into a fine paste by the seven leaders. However, when Smoking Mirror showed up and ordered the attack, he made sure to give them a slightly greater infusion of [Law].
It wasn't enough to bump multiple cultivation ranks, but it was enough to make them strong enough to challenge the leaders on equal footing. As such, the City Lord was forced into a one-on-one duel with Smoking Mirror.
Smoking Mirror had switched from his obsidian daggers to a macuahuitl made of bones and obsidian, while the City Lord had defended himself with his [Astra], which took on the form of a giant imperial brush. The two warriors were fairly locked in place with one another, evenly matched as it were, and had a mutual understanding that all it would take to shift this balance was one errant move or an unexpected outsider throwing everything out of whack.
Evidently, it was a case of the latter.
[Chaos Art: Radiant Feather Storm!]
"What the fuck?!"
"Who dares to interrupt?!"
While in the midst of their power clash, a flurry of feather-shaped light arrows flew towards them with the explicit purpose of punching them full of holes.
To their credit, though, Smoking Mirror and Rainbowden's City Lord were able to react in time to either defend themselves or avoid the attack, respectively.
In the face of these light feathers, Smoking Mirror manifested a mirror shield composed of [Law] that absorbed the [Chaos]-infused light, while the City Lord could instinctively sense that the incoming attack was something he wouldn't be able to defend against using normal means. As such, he opted to avoid the attack entirely by dropping altitude through a forceful fall.
Once both parties had finished taking defensive action, they directed their attention towards the bastard that had almost punched new airholes into their bodies.
Floating a couple feet away from them, with an aura of insurmountable pride around them, was a young man with three pairs of wings wrapped around his body.
"Well, shoot. I was hoping to take you both out in one go. Oh well," Alain declared with arrogance. "Looks like I'll just have to do this with my bare hands!"
Now that he had both the City Lord's and Smoking Mirror's attention, Alain wasted no time closing the gap between them. Once he was firmly located in the halfway point, Smoking Mirror's position in the air and the City Lord's position towards the ground, Alain proceeded to unleash hell and havoc.
Well, heaven and havoc.
[Sacred Light Pillar!]
Channeling his aether throughout his entire body and forming a sacred-feeling hand seal, Alain released an aura of light that took the form of a pillar that engulfed both Smoking Mirror and the City Lord.
Alain's Luxarii aether that had been enhanced with [Chaos] struck Smoking Mirror from below while simultaneously hammering down on the City Lord.
"Gah!"
"Oof!"
Both parties ended up releasing grunts of pain and small coughs of blood as the surprise attack left them little time to defend or react properly. Granted, they still managed to escape the full brunt of the attack by rolling to the side. To the credit of these old dogs, they didn't allow this attack to go unpunished.
"You insolent brat," Smoking Mirror growled as the shadow of a jaguar briefly flashed over his face, and he took on a strange midair stance. "I'll send you to the pits of Xibalba!"
"First this asshole and his birds attack me out of nowhere after wrecking my city street, and now this weird winged brat thinks he can act like an oriole," the Rainbowden City Lord hissed through gritted teeth, unaware of the fact that his thoughts were being affected by outside forces. "Well, I think I'm done messing around."
Above Alain, Smoking Mirror began to manifest an illusionary jaguar made of shadows, smoke, and violence, infusing it with bits of [Law], [Chaos], and aether in a haphazard manner. It wouldn't have the devastating edge that a true fusion of power would have, but it would definitely hurt like a bitch.
Beneath Alain, the Rainbowden City Lord had brought forth a strange treasure that had been a part of Rainbowden's history since its founding and drew power from it, unknowingly channeling the power of [Chaos] from a bygone era. Using its power, the old man used it in conjunction with his [Astra] and created a monstrous elephant made of paint-like aether and inky [Chaos].
"Die for me!"
"Break!"
Once the two of them were ready to strike, they wasted absolutely no time in sending their respective attacks flying towards Alain...and technically, each other. In their minds, as long as one of their opponents got hit by their attack, they didn't care who.
"Ahaha! This is getting interesting!"
The moment Alain realized his attack was no longer affecting his chosen opponents, he made sure to put a stop to his attack and switch up his strategy…to an extent.
With a vicious gleam in his eyes, he looked above and below before determining which was the easier attack to break.
"Eenie, meanie, minie…you!"
Alain ascended at a breakneck pace, and as he did, he wrapped his wings around himself as he turned into a drill made of light and pierced through the strange jaguar construct into a million little sparkles.
Once he drilled through the attack, he unfurled his wings to stare at Smoking Mirror directly in the eyes.
"Funny, you don't look like one of the kaijin that ruined my big day, but you sure as shit feel like one," Alain declared. "I wonder if I can get Master Buzza to transplant your parts onto me."
"Wait, what?!" Smoking Mirror shouted in alarm once he had fully digested Alain's words. "You think I'm one of that annoying Shaper's little pet—"
But before he could finish his statement, Alain interrupted him with a punch to the face.
…Meanwhile…
"Huh…ya know…I don't think we will actually have to participate in this fight. I think we can just…let them go at it," Zhen Liu concluded as he stared up at the fighting bastards in the air. "Makes my life easier."
