Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1203: One sword at a time
’Well, good to know I am able to help others improve without having to inject a Kaijin into their brains,’ Zhen Liu mentally praised himself while watching Lythero’s performance. ’But I honestly missing have Logos and Pathos make commentary at this point in time. Wonder what they would say...’
...Meanwhile...
<That sword style...didn’t we have a Lord fight someone who used that sword style before? The whole one-handed great sword thing?>
=I think so...if memory serves me right, that was back when we were supporting either the Star Caller or the Wild King. One of those two.=
<Oh yeah...hmmm. You think once we re-establish the connection that he’ll lean more towards the former or the latter when it comes to kaijin creation.>
=If anything, he’s probably going to somehow do both.=
<Fair.>
...Now back to Lythero and Zhen Liu...
"Ha!"
Before the mushroom zakos could land their blows, Lythero proceeded to propel himself forward and use the [Black Iron Slab] as a pole vault this time.
Narrowly avoiding the punches, the two mushroom zakos end up impacting the [Black Iron Slab] directly and hurting their hands instead.
Now, based on Lythero’s current arc of movement, he was going to end up falling forward with his back away from the mushroom zakos. Depending on how strong his swinging arm is, he could use the forward fall momentum to swing his sword upwards and strike at the mushroom zakos.
However, this was not what Lythero had in mind.
Instead, as he began to fall forward, he blasted Ignatii aether out of the bottom of his feet in order to launch his feet forward and jam his feet into the mushroom zako’s shoulders.
"Alley-oop!"
In one fluid movement, Lythero managed to steady himself on the mushroom zako’s shoulders like a bunch of cheerleaders doing a human pyramid. Instead of wielding baton though, he was wielding a giant one-handed sword.
[Spiral Shell Slash!]
Once he was settled, Lythero proceeded to leap off of the zakos’ shoulders and performed a spinning slash against them.
This action sent the zakos flying, while giving Lythero the momentum he needed to tuck and roll back into ready position.
Once he was on his feet though, the training session was over.
The zakos, who were thoroughly battered returned to their feet before giving their lord a proper salute and turning back into marbles that Zhen Liu had to pick back up.
But the results were more than worth the effort.
Lythero looked awfully proud about his recent victory and for good reason too.
"Well done, Lythero, well done," Zhen Liu praised. "I think you have more or less mastered using the [Black Iron Slab]."
"About time!"
This was, technically, the first time he had actually managed to win in one of these sparring sessions with one of the Gold tiered swords.
"Well, now that you figured out how to fight with the [Black Iron Slab], it’s time to change gears," Zhen Liu said with a mild hint of sadistic glee. "You have a preference of the one you want to try next or do you want me to pick?"
"I can do it, I can do it."
"Afraid I might purposefully pick your worst opponents again?"
"Yes."
"Fair enough."
Up until this point, Zhen Liu and his zakos had essentially beaten the crap out of Lythero with very little to very mediocre resistance on his end, despite the power level gap.
This was because the latter was retraining himself on how to use his master’s swords for real this time.
Apparently having spent a decade or so using only shadow and mind training only helped him mimick the moves while using a regular sword at reference, which was wildly different from the crazy builds and attributes that the real deal blades came with.
Every single last one of the seven Gold tiered swords had such wildly different properties that being able to wield just one took months to years.
So the fact that Lythero was able to master one in a matter of days was honestly kind of impressive.
Unfortunately, neither Lythero nor Zhen Liu knew this was the case, because they had no other frame of reference. Well, except for vague memories but those were unreliable.
"Okay, I learned how to fight like Master Tortoise...let’s try fighting like Master Coyote," Lythero determined while moving to put the [Black Iron Slab] into its resting place.
During their travels, Zhen Liu had helped to design a special carrying box to hold all of the Gold tiered swords so that he didn’t have zakos constantly hold them.
While there wasn’t technically anything wrong with that latter option, Zhen Liu swore he saw some of the zakos undergo some minute changes the longer they held the swords.
Regardless, once Lythero swapped swords between the [Black Iron Slab] and the [Trickster’s Fang Pack Kukri], Lythero took on a completely different stance.
With the former sword in hand, Lythero kept his back straight and his limbs loose. The idea behind that particular stance was so that he could always reposition himself around the [Black Iron Slab], and use it as a makeshift shield to keep between himself and his opponent.
When he equipped the latter though, Lythero adopted a hunched over stance with his arms kept close to his body.
The aim for this particular stance was to strike fast at weird angles that were hard to predict and even harder to dodge, all while being as elusive as an illusion.
"You want me to use the usual zakos or..."
"Bring out the firing squad."
"You got it."
Zhen Liu fished through his zako pouch until he fished out several that appeared to be made of polished bone.
Once he threw them out, several skeletal zakos armed with gun-like weapons made of bones appeared before him.
These weapons though didn’t fire off bolts of energy or normal bullets, they fired high velocity teeth.
And all of these teeth were aimed in Lythero’s direction.
"Are you sure you want to do this again?," Zhen Liu asked with a mix of genuine concern and bemused sarcasm. "Last time you ended up pinned to a tree."
"It’ll be fine," Lythero assured Zhen Liu while spinning the kukri in his hand. "I think I figured it out this time."
"Okay...company, ready!"
[Grr!]
At Zhen Liu’s command, the skeletal zakos raised their weapons and prepared themselves to fire off their teeth.
In response to this, Lythero began to channel aether into the kukri.
[Hazy Pack Hunt.]
As energy flowed into the strange blade, Lythero’s body began to waver in the eyes of Zhen Liu and the zako. Seconds after, Lythero had multipled from one to five.
All five Lytheros were armed with the [Trickster’s Fang Pack Kukri], and all five warriors had the exact same aura signature to them.
To the untrained eye, or in the heat of battle, such a trick could prove fatal.
"Ready...go!"
"HA!"
[GRRR!]
At Zhen Liu’s command, the zakos began to fire a barrage of teeth that threatened to perforate Lythero full of holes, or worse.
At the same time, Lythero and his clones began to charge forward in wildly different ways.
Two had opted to charge straight forward wanting to brave the hail of teeth, while two went in opposite directions, aiming to surround and pincer the firing zakos. As for the last Lythero, he opted to go vertical l, leaping into the air by using aether enhancement to crash into the fire line.
"Redirect and fire!"
[GRRR!]
Following their creator’s command, some of the zakos kept peppering the charging Lytheros, while the rest directed their fire left, right and upwards.
For the most part, the clones managed to outright block or dodge the teeth, up until they got to the half way point between their starting positions and the zakos.
This was when Zhen Liu took off the gloves.
"Alright, amp up the firing rate!"
[GRRR!]
The zakos proceeded to fire off their teeth launching weapons at an even faster rate, making it harder for Lythero and his clones to block and dodge as before, leading to the inevitable.
"Gah!"
First, the Lythero that had taken the vertical route got shot down and proceeded to disperse into a illusionary mist as a tooth bypassed his defenses and struck him in the shoulder, leading to the rest catching purchase.
Next, one of the flanking and one of the forward charging Lytheros got perforated into swiss cheese as lucky tooth shots nicked them in the legs.
This left exactly one charging forward and one charging in from the left.
Unfortunately, both of these Lythero’s appeared to be rather competent in their ability to block and dodge, so the zakos had to concentrate their fire on one or the other in order to defeat Lythero.
In other words, this was a luck of a draw type of thing.
And the zakos were actually fairly lucky.
[Grrr!]
"Bah!"
At the last minute, the zakos all pivoted to the left and pinned Lythero to a tree.

"You almost got it."
"Fuck off."
