Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!-Chapter 2118: The Sole Holder of Angel’s Tooth
Inheritance?
Xu Huo paused for a moment and chose to accept it.
[Congratulations to Passerby A for receiving an inheritance gift. The inheritance consists of five "Angel’s Teeth." Since Passerby A has become the sole owner of this prop, you also gain ownership of the remaining ten "Angel’s Teeth." The remaining ten "Angel’s Teeth" are still at the E27 Wormhole Point, and you can freely choose whether to retrieve them immediately.]
"Angel’s Teeth," suspected to be a component of the super prop Feld’s Battle Angel, unlike parts like "Angel’s Eye," "Angel’s Teeth" discreetly emerged as a task within an instance. Granny Bai, who owned it, seemed to know the origin of the prop but did not regard it highly, even gifting one of the teeth to a stranger who entered the instance.
Of course, Xu Huo also had questions regarding Granny Bai. She harbored grudges against the local government manipulated by outsiders and had little affection for Fairy Tale City itself, as if guarding it out of habit. However, later on, when the Suitcase Man arrived in Brick Tale Town with the Smiling Puppet, the city should have been destroyed once. But afterward, Xu Huo searched for tickets at the station, and they were still available. Later, when he encountered the Paper Servant Master in Clown City, the Paper Servant Master also mentioned that Granny Bai was doing fine, which made it even stranger. In his memory, Granny Bai seemed like someone who could die at any moment, surviving even when Fairy Tale City was destroyed by the Suitcase Man. Yet now, she suddenly handed over all the "Angel’s Teeth" to him... Did something unexpected happen, and she has already passed away?
Based on the game’s prompt, realizing that Granny Bai intended to have him inherit this prop someday when she gave him the first tooth, Xu Huo immediately turned away from the ruins and left Peace City with the Girl in the Painting.
He initially wanted to purchase tickets to Brick Tale Town and head directly to the station, but there were no tickets available for this station on the game platform. The district where Building Block Fairy Tale City Station was located had already been reduced to a breeding area, with few instances, a sparse population, and alien creatures everywhere. There were barely any places to survive after leaving Fairy Tale City, and without tickets to Building Block Fairy Tale City Station, it was almost impossible for players to reach this district.
Xu Huo searched for relevant information beneath the Dimension but found little discussion about Brick Tale Town since it was merely a Level E instance, making it difficult to obtain specifics about its current status. Consequently, he placed a bounty beneath the Dimension for tickets to Fairy Tale City Station and "Doorbell" props capable of traversing the game world and semi-closed districts. There were no tickets available, but a player selling "Doorbells" informed him that if the district hosting Brick Tale Town had lost its instances, it was highly likely to have been removed from the instance district roster. Such districts would either be abandoned or turned into high-risk, random instance venues. Without instances, naturally, "Doorbells" couldn’t reach there, but there was another way – purchasing a one-time cross-district device. As long as he could accurately locate near the station’s district, he could open a portal, but such devices were extremely expensive.
Xu Huo had experienced cross-district devices before and had inadvertently ended up in a nearby high-risk instance venue. The technology for these devices was mostly blocked by the game government, and district governments acquired them at high prices, using them as consumables. Even under such stringent usage restrictions, the distance these devices could teleport varied by level, crossing districts and wormhole points. Locating a district with the most basic version was impossible, and finding a location in the game was no easy task.
"Do you have a way to accurately locate the district?" Xu Huo sent a message.
The other party replied quickly, "Instances above Level D have district information. Level E instance tickets don’t include it, but you’re looking to visit Brick Tale Town, right? This instance recently got upgraded and now includes district information. I can help you locate it for free. As long as you enter the wormhole point where the district is located, using a teleportation device should be no problem. Once out, just use a ticket. But teleportation devices aren’t cheap, and most people can’t get them. I’m pricing it at three billion White Notes."
The price for cross-district teleportation within the same wormhole point using a one-time device was evidently high. However, Xu Huo didn’t haggle but instead suggested trading through the game’s reward platform.
The reward platform ensured honest transactions.
The other party seemed hesitant to use this channel, possibly wanting to bypass it. Xu Huo didn’t press the matter further and priced a new one-time cross-district teleportation device at two billion as a bounty. Many people contacted him, but most were trying to scam him for a deposit.
Eventually, the player agreed to complete the transaction on the reward platform. Xu Huo paid three billion White Notes and received a teleportation device that was already set to the correct transmission location. After verifying district details and checking the device’s authenticity, confirming that districts like Brick Tale Town, where instances had completely vanished, were still within ticket-use areas, he took the Girl in the Painting to the wormhole point where Brick Tale Town was located and used the one-time teleportation prop upon reaching any district.
As the wrist-thick metal ring activated and deconstructed in midair, six metal fragments released convergent rays of light, forming a luminous halo, which projected onto the space ahead. It quickly shaped into a dazzling circular door. Xu Huo stepped through, and in the next moment, he found himself in a desiccated forest.
Catching the now-defunct teleportation device in his hand, he surveyed the surroundings, then swiftly moved forward several times through space until he encountered the first city largely overrun by aliens. This war-ravaged city had most of its buildings flattened, with scorched earth and yellow sand being its prominent colors. Even the entrenched aliens seemed to have evolved to blend with the environment, hunting each other amidst the dirt and dust.
Upon discovering a map stored in a cellar, Xu Huo verified that this was indeed the district where Brick Tale Town was located, and the map indicated the city’s position.
Having pinpointed it, he directly used the teleportation prop to arrive at Brick Tale Town.
The city, once famously known for tourism and attracting visitors from other districts, had become a ghost town. Not only were the common residential areas deserted, but even government halls and the Eternal Star Hotel lay vacant. The stench from fermenting garbage and small animal carcasses permeated the city, while the once-decidedly fragrant memories of gourmet food and flowers seemed never to have existed.
Xu Huo walked to the city center without encountering anyone or even the bodies of people. Not even aliens had entered here; the entire city had turned into a ghost town, with all living things seemingly evaporated.
