Just A Daoist Who Occasionally Kicks Ass-Chapter 500: Showy Confucian Magic! The Ultimate Mouth-Warrior! You Don’t Look Like a Good Person.
At this time, he was preparing to leave. His aura blended seamlessly with the surrounding world, giving off no sense of incongruity. Even if someone were standing right next to him, they probably wouldn’t be able to see him.
Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks, as a small, delicately sculpted little girl was staring at him coldly. There was a maturity in her eyes that did not fit her age. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
“Who are you?”
The old Confucian scholar looked at the girl, who could be no more than seven or eight, and felt a surge of caution. He had already cast four or five spells on himself, ready to flee at any moment.
“Heh, you’re a lackey. You’re not worthy of knowing my background,” the little girl snapped directly.
“Fine, then. Let’s each go our separate ways[1]!”
The old Confucian scholar acted without hesitation, his body flickering with magical light, and he surged into the air on the wind, moving at incredible speed.
Suddenly, he felt the surrounding spiritual energy of the world compressing in violently, making it nearly impossible to breathe. His bones cracked audibly, as if they were about to shatter at any moment. His entire body was forcibly knocked down from his wind-riding state.
“Confucius says, ‘The Master does not speak of strange things, violent acts, disorder, or spirits.[2]!'” the old scholar said in a deep voice.
All the negative effects on his body vanished, and he looked at the delicately sculpted little girl before him with lingering fear.
“Originally, I wasn’t interested in you, but your actions have gone too far. Today, you must die,” the little girl said calmly.
The old scholar didn’t waste any words. He directly pulled a talisman scroll from his chest, on which an ancient seal script character for “sword“ was written.
As he unfurled the scroll, a sharp flying sword shot through the air, its sword aura cutting in all directions.
The little girl extended her hand and pinched the flying sword. The sword, incredibly sharp, posed no threat to her hand at all.
Crack! The flying sword shattered explosively.
The old scholar was stunned by the immense power. Suddenly, he realized something and exclaimed, “It’s you... you actually came personally to deal with me!?”
He felt a sense of absurdity. This little girl before him was none other than the sovereign of the White Marsh Demon Kingdom. Everything matched the information he had gathered, and in an instant, the old scholar was enlightened.
“Heh, no wonder they say scholars are cunning.”
“Your Majesty, we are in a period of cooperation. If you kill me now, how would you explain it to the Young Prince?” the old scholar said.
“What a joke! I do what I want; who do I have to answer to!?” The little girl snorted, her expression fierce yet childish, exuding a playful ferocity.
“Even you, Your Majesty, may not dare provoke the Young Prince’s backers. I hope you act wisely,” the old scholar said.
“I’ve always been curious, who really stands behind your Young Prince? Is it the Ascension Mansion or Mount Youming?” the sovereign of White Marsh Demon Kingdom asked, intrigued.
“I’ll leave this matter at that. Burning bridges won’t do any good for anyone,” the old scholar said after a pause, his voice calm.
“A trash like you wants to burn bridges with me? If I kill you here, who will even know?” the little girl sneered.
“In that case, don’t blame me for taking action,” the old scholar said sternly.
The little girl of delicate appearance, the mysterious sovereign of White Marsh Demon Kingdom, did not take him seriously at all.
“The sovereign of White Marsh Demon Kingdom is here! Help! Today’s village massacre was all orchestrated by her! Help!” The old scholar unveiled a talisman scroll, and his voice instantly echoed across the entire area, clearly reaching everyone’s ears.
Confucian magic excelled in verbal attacks and the power of righteous qi. When it came to verbal sparring, no other cultivation system surpassed it.
The sovereign of White Marsh Demon Kingdom was stunned at his words. Are you kidding me?
She could hardly imagine how someone could be shameless to this degree.
She extended her fingers, channeling thick, powerful magic toward him, thereafter several of the old scholar’s magical implements shattered instantly. It pained him greatly, but the advantage was that it blocked her strike, allowing him to retreat backward!
At this moment, the words he had just shouted continued to reverberate across the entire area, like a giant megaphone with a replay function. It clearly exposed both of their positions!
And to make sure no one missed it, the old Confucian scholar took out another talisman scroll. As soon as he opened it, a thick, imposing aura surged forth. It didn’t do anything else; just a beam of white light shot straight into the sky.
The little girl’s lips twitched slightly, and she sneered, “You think that revealing my location will bring someone to save you?”
“Your Majesty, you know nothing about power,” the old scholar spat.
The two had already torn off all pretenses; the old scholar no longer bothered to be polite and began berating her outright.
In an instant, the mysterious sovereign of White Marsh Demon Kingdom’s face turned red with anger, her eyes glaring at him furiously.
“Fine, I’ll slaughter you, let’s see how much talking you can do now!” the sovereign of White Marsh Demon Kingdom said coldly.
Her delicate, doll-like hand slammed onto the ground, and a massive surge of energy erupted across heaven and earth. Magical power tore through the soil like an invisible net.
It was overwhelming; the sheer difference in cultivation crushed the old scholar, leaving him utterly helpless.
But this supposedly shrewd, yet frequently blundering, old strategist had the feeling that he had somehow survived a near-death situation. Because suddenly, a young Daoist appeared and sliced through the heaven-and-earth net with a single strike.
Li Yanchu hadn’t fully grasped the situation yet, but he had clearly heard the old man screaming for help moments ago.
He had dealt with the White Marsh Demon Kingdom before. It was no longer a question of whether they killed or not killed or spared lives; they treated people as livestock, slaughtering and consuming them with no sense of remorse. He took the affairs of the White Marsh Demon Kingdom seriously.
Yet when he arrived, the scene made him frown. Standing there were an upright, righteous-looking old Confucian scholar, and a delicate, doll-like little girl. Needless to say, the voice crying for help had to be the old scholar’s.
“So the sovereign of the White Marsh Demon Kingdom is this little girl?” Li Yanchu’s eyes glimmered as he looked at her.
“She is indeed the sovereign of the White Marsh Demon Kingdom. I’ve been chasing after her for a long time; the trouble here was all caused by her,” the old scholar said, his face full of righteous indignation.
Li Yanchu nodded slightly.
The old scholar breathed a sigh of relief. The young man was hot-blooded and hated evil; he should easily believe his words.
Sitting back and watching the tiger fight the wolf was exactly the kind of thing a strategist like him should do. He had planned to slip away when the young Daoist confronted the little girl.
Suddenly, his body stiffened, unable to move, his mind frozen, as if struck by an immortal’s Immobilization Spell!
“What you said has some value, but you don’t look like a good person either,” Li Yanchu said coldly.
The old scholar was dumbfounded.
After completing his task and encountering the mysterious sovereign of White Marsh Demon Kingdom, he thought he was surely going to die. Using his sharp mind, he narrowly escaped, luring the tiger to swallow the wolf and drawing this young Daoist into a trap so he could make his getaway. He executed the plan as smoothly as flowing water!
Yet unexpectedly, this young man didn’t follow the rules of martial ethics. At the slightest provocation, he had immobilized him!
1. “大路朝天,各走一边” is a Chinese proverb that literally means “the great road leads to the sky, each goes their own way.” Figuratively, it conveys that everyone has their own path and choices, and people should pursue their ambitions without interfering with others. It emphasizes a broad-minded attitude of respecting individual decisions and going with the flow of life. It can be understood as similar to “different paths, no common pursuit” or “to each their own, wherever they may be.” The phrase is often used to describe two people or groups whose goals differ, leading them to part ways and develop independently. ☜
2. “子不语,怪力乱神” comes from The Analects (Shu Er) and literally means “The Master does not speak of strange things, violent acts, disorder, or spirits.” It signifies that Confucius avoided discussing, or promoting matters of the supernatural, violence, chaos, or ghosts. The phrase reflects the Confucian focus on practical human ethics, rationality, and worldly affairs, maintaining a respectful distance from the supernatural. In later usage, it also broadly refers to tales or ideas about ghosts, monsters, and the bizarre that defy reason or common sense. ☜
