Chapter 573: Chapter 572 Chen Nuo Cooks Personally

Chen Nuo had spoken, and if Tian Peng refused now, it would truly be a lack of recognition.

Moreover, he really wanted to eat the dishes Chen Nuo made. Tian Peng excitedly nodded his head, "Shopkeeper, thank you so much. I didn’t expect you to cook for me just to comfort me. I’m really touched. I will definitely cheer up in order to become your apprentice."

"Mm." Chen Nuo stood up, patted Tian Peng on the shoulder, and left the reception hall.

In the kitchen, Chen Nuo had told Tian Peng those words on a whim; he hadn’t actually thought about what to make for Tian Peng.

In modern times, when people experienced heartbreak, they seemed to enjoy eating high-calorie foods.

After thinking for a bit, Chen Nuo decided to make Tian Peng a high-calorie meal set.

Burgers, fries, fried chicken, and egg tarts—he hadn’t figured out how to make cola yet, so he could only replace it with milk tea.

Of course, the milk tea had to be iced; if it was hot, it would be less effective at cutting through the greasiness.

No sooner said than done, Chen Nuo took out some flour and started to make the burger buns.

These were relatively easy to make; it was just the kneading that required a lot of effort. Fortunately, with mana at his disposal, he could skip the kneading and mixing techniques.

Moreover, dough kneaded with mana was more evenly worked and tasted better than handmade for some reason. Chen Nuo didn’t know why modern people always pursued handmade items when the texture from machines was clearly better.

After finishing the bread, Chen Nuo looked at the leftover trimmings, which were quite abundant. Throwing them away was definitely not an option.

But he wouldn’t need them later. Looking at the dough, Chen Nuo had a brainwave—a perfect use for them was to make pizza.

Making the pizza crust was fairly straightforward, with the toppings and cheese generally overshadowing the crust, though it was indispensable.

Chen Nuo took out a rolling pin, flattened the remaining dough into a large, round shape, and then placed it in a baking tray, poking small holes in it for ventilation.

The sauce was a bit more complicated to prepare, as many people took the shortcut of using tomato ketchup for convenience.

But pizza sauce contained not just tomato ketchup but also a variety of spices. Fortunately, as a chef, he had all of these spices on hand, and he just needed to chop them up and mix them with the ketchup.

Once the sauce was ready, Chen Nuo spread it over the crust, added various toppings like beef and sausages, then another layer of spices, and topped it with a thick layer of cheese. He placed the pizza in the oven along with the burger buns.

While the bread and pizza were baking, Chen Nuo started to prepare the fried chicken.

For the fried chicken, he coated the marinated chicken pieces with flour and breadcrumbs, then fried them in oil. He fried them once, then again, until they were golden and crispy—it was quite easy to make.

In the frying pan, each chicken wing and drumstick coated in flour began to bubble and roll in the oil, being turned occasionally with cooking tongs.

As the bubbles on the crust of the meat slowly decreased, it meant that the chicken was getting cooked.

Frying food not only made people happy when eating it, but also was therapeutic for the cook.

Watching something fry and slowly turn golden in hot oil was indeed a delightful experience.

To prolong that delightful experience, Chen Nuo brought out some potatoes from the back kitchen that hadn’t been used up last time he cooked.

He sliced the potatoes thinly, blanched them in hot water until they turned golden, and then they were ready for the frying pan.

Once fried to a point where no bubbles emerged, he drained the oil, sprinkled on some seasoning, and the crispy potato chips were done.

With everything prepared, Chen Nuo took out the milk tea and used a spell to make it ice-cold, to the point where condensation formed on the outside of the glass. With that, the high-calorie comfort meal was complete.

Chen Nuo beckoned Sun Wukong to take the food away.

Looking at the steaming dishes, Wukong couldn’t help but swallow, "Master, is, is this considered done?"

"What else?" Chen Nuo glanced at Sun Wukong, "What are you thinking?"

"Could you teach your disciple? With so many delicious dishes, your disciple also wants to learn."

Actually, he didn’t just want to learn; he also wanted to eat.

It wasn’t out of jealousy for Tian Peng but simply a plain desire to eat.

Chen Nuo was well aware of what he was thinking, and he wouldn’t treat anyone differently. Not to mention that Tian Peng wasn’t his disciple yet, even if he were to become his disciple in the future, Chen Nuo wouldn’t treat him any differently.

"Take the dishes over, then open them up and have a look," Chen Nuo dropped these words and left.

His current role was that of an elder, and occasional comforting was acceptable, but he couldn’t always stay in the same place; he needed to give the younger generation some personal space.

Chen Nuo watched Wukong’s leaping figure and suddenly felt a twinge of melancholy.

He was still a single young man himself; how come, without even a transition, he had suddenly risen to the status of an elder? It was indeed a rather sad affair.

Wukong carried the food to the parlor where Tian Peng was already waiting. Though his heart was still filled with much guilt, now there was more expectation for the dishes Chen Nuo had prepared.

"Mr. Monkey, I could smell it just now; it’s so fragrant, my mouth is watering. What on earth is this?"

Wukong placed the tray on the table and said, "I don’t know what it is either. Are you saying that you wanted to eat Master’s cooking but had no money, so you purposely came here and put on an act, hoping that Master would cook for you?"

Tian Peng felt wronged at once, "Mr. Monkey, I swear, how could I do something so shameless? I’m genuinely upset."

"But I didn’t expect the shopkeeper to make so much delicious food just for me. I’ll definitely repay his kindness in the future."

Wukong gave him a glare, "Idiot! I always say you can’t talk properly and you still don’t agree! He may be my master, but he hasn’t even found me a wife yet, and you dare call him an old man? Do you believe I will turn you into a real old man right now?"

Tian Peng hadn’t thought that much; he had spoken out of habit in the moment.

After all, the elders he often faced were hundreds or even tens of thousands of years older than him. It was rare for him to meet someone younger. Now that he thought about it, Chen Nuo really couldn’t be called an old man.

In the terms of the mortal world, his age was only around twenty-five or twenty-six or so.

Let alone an old man, he wasn’t even middle-aged yet, still a youth. Such a statement really aged him prematurely.

As a self-imposed punishment, Tian Peng slapped his own mouth twice, saying, "My mistake, it’s all because I don’t know how to speak. I’ll stop talking now and focus on eating, alright?"

Wukong had been waiting for him to shut up, so now that he said this, it was perfect. He didn’t engage with Tian Peng any further and immediately lifted the lid of the food container, only to be hit in the face with a blast of steam mixed with a delicious aroma.

Tian Peng was also startled by the steam, but as he was further away, the impact wasn’t as strong as Wukong’s.

"Wow, it smells so good. What are all these?"

Wukong shook his head and, not daring to get too close again, moved back a bit to get a good look inside the container.

Inside were two burgers, two pairs of chicken wings, two big drumsticks, plus a big box of fries and two cups of iced milk tea.
