Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 487 Sun Wukong Breaks the Siege
Sun Wukong had originally intended to sit back and enjoy the show; this sort of ruckus didn’t count as a disgrace for Tian Peng. After all, it wasn’t his first time getting drunk and causing a stir, nor was it the first time Sun Wukong had seen it happen. There was no need to interfere.
However, Chen Nuo had noticed Fairy Chang’e’s embarrassment. Half of those present were laughing at her, and if no one intervened, there was no telling what might happen in such a situation.
So he nudged Sun Wukong with his elbow. It wouldn’t be appropriate for him to step in, but given Sun Wukong’s eccentric nature, if he were to handle it, nobody would think anything of it.
Sun Wukong immediately grasped Chen Nuo’s intent, stood up, and with a forceful push of his palm, pressed Tian Peng down, "You blockhead, how many times have I told you to drink less? But no, you just don’t listen. And now look, Fairy Chang’e came to thank you, and you’re embarrassing her in public. If you cause another scene, I’ll definitely shake up the prestige of Chaos Residence on behalf of my master."
Tian Peng still didn’t know what was going on and sat down belatedly, asking Sun Wukong, "Mr. Monkey, what’s this all about? I haven’t toasted yet. I just finished toasting the master, and I didn’t even see if Fairy Chang’e drank—why’d you go and push me down?"
"Are you jealous of me, envious that I can assist Fairy Chang’e? If you’re envious, just say so. What do you mean by stopping me from drinking?"
"You wish, thinking of watching Fairy Chang’e drink her wine?" Sun Wukong glanced at Chang’e and gave her a smile, "Please take a seat, Fairy Chang’e, and pay no mind to this oaf. He’s had too much to drink and his words carry no weight. Don’t bother with him, let him do whatever he wants."
Chang’e felt as though a weight had been lifted; someone had taken care of the awkward situation, and now there was no need to drink the wine. She smiled back at Sun Wukong, "It’s alright. After all, the entire banquet was arranged by Lord Tian Peng himself. It’s no big deal if he talks nonsense while he’s happy."
"Look at that, Fairy Chang’e is so good at covering for you. And you, you blockhead, incapable of doing anything right!" Sun Wukong patted Tian Peng’s head once more and was satisfied only after hearing him grunt in discontent.
The issue seemed to resolve itself. Chang’e breathed a sigh of relief, and even her view of Sun Wukong changed; his monkey hair no longer seemed strange, and she even felt grateful to him.
The small interlude between Tian Peng and Chang’e didn’t affect the banquet. Everyone simply treated it as water under the bridge; past is past, and they continued to eat and drink as before.
"Tian Peng, you’ve had too much to drink; it’s better if you stop now and sober up before you continue mingling with others," Chen Nuo said sternly. "In an event like this, when the toasting ceremony isn’t even finished, to have already gotten yourself drunk—what kind of behavior is that? Are you disgracing yourself or Chaos Residence?"
Chen Nuo rarely criticized others seriously. It might have been alright if it were someone else, but this was Tian Peng, who had a notorious reputation for going crazy when drunk, especially at a critical moment like this.
Chen Nuo was also worried that someone might use the Journey to the West to approach Tian Peng, but Tian Peng’s drunkenness had now given others the opportunity.
"Shopkeeper, I’m fine, don’t worry. Though I’ve had a few drinks, I’ll make sure not to let it cause any trouble," mumbled Tian Peng.
"Nonsense! Have you ever been short of foolish acts when drunk? You’re still in someone else’s home; if you cause another disaster here, not even my master could save you!" Sun Wukong poked Tian Peng with his finger.
Tian Peng remained still and even reached out for another cup of wine, but Sun Wukong slapped his hand away.
Tian Peng rested his hand on the table and continued to mutter, "Don’t worry, Mr. Monkey, Shopkeeper, this time, I swear I won’t cause any trouble because I’m drunk. If I do, just one fit of rage from the Jade Emperor would see me banished to the mortal realm."
Sun Wukong snorted, "As long as you’re aware of that, it saves me the trouble of reminding you again."
Seeing Tian Peng motionless, presumably sobering up, Chen Nuo stretched out his hand to infuse half of Tian Peng’s drunkenness with mana, dissipating it. He didn’t forget to entrust Sun Wukong, "Keep an eye on him, and don’t let him start trouble."
After Chen Nuo dissipated half of the alcohol from Tian Peng’s body, Tian Peng first stared blankly for a moment, then lifted his head from the table and looked around, "Mr. Monkey, oh my, how did I just fall asleep?"
Sun Wukong, who was busy pouring wine for Chen Nuo, glanced at Tian Peng getting up from the table and gave him a look, "You did more than nearly fall asleep, you almost died, okay?"
"Ah?" Tian Peng scratched his head, still a bit dazed from just waking up and not comprehensively grasping the situation, "Did I just get drunk and act crazy? Did I make a fool of myself?"
At this time, other guests had already started gathering together to eat, and not too many were concerned about Tian Peng, it was actually better for him to be asleep, at least it saved the banquet from the chaos of his drunken frenzy.
Sun Wukong glanced at Fairy Chang’e and said to Tian Peng in a low voice, "You didn’t cause any embarrassment, but you almost made it impossible for Fairy Chang’e to get off the stage."
"Really?" Tian Peng glanced at Chang’e, who was not paying any attention to him, and truly panicked, as just when his relationship with her had started to progress, he couldn’t let it be ruined, "What happened after that?"
"After that..." Sun Wukong chuckled coldly, "after that, everyone was watching the spectacle, had it not been for the master reminding me, I’m afraid you wouldn’t have had the chance to speak to Fairy Chang’e again."
In a flurry of panic, Tian Peng said, "Oh no, what should I do now?"
"What else can you do, just deal with it!" Sun Wukong said dismissively, "It’s your fault for getting drunk before the banquet even started. Had it not been for the master dissipating half the alcohol from your body, you’d still be sprawled on the table."
"Really?" Tian Peng was shocked, "Oh no, this is all my fault, I got carried away in the moment, seeing wine and wanting to drink, I just couldn’t resist."
"You did more than fail to resist, you mixed hard liquor with Peach Blossom Wine and drank it, it’s a wonder you didn’t drink yourself to death!" Sun Wukong scoffed, "Okay, save yourself some dignity, and don’t drink anymore later."
Tian Peng quickly agreed, "Okay, Mr. Monkey, I get it, I definitely won’t drink recklessly again."
After lecturing Tian Peng, Sun Wukong moved closer to Chen Nuo. Tian Peng’s guests were all Military Generals, none of whom had anything pleasant to say, some were even vulgar; not only did Chen Nuo look down on them, Sun Wukong didn’t care for them either.
"I was originally thinking of using this banquet to gather information about Buddhism, but who has Tian Peng invited? Not a single useful person," Chen Nuo said as he held his wine glass, surveying the guests, almost contemplating leaving then and there.
Sun Wukong agreed, "Exactly, I’m fed up with them too. How about I call a few more people over? This place is big enough, we could fit another dozen no problem."
"Are you well acquainted with people from the Immortal Realm?" Chen Nuo turned and asked.
"Master, you’re really underestimating me, I have plenty of friends in the Heavenly Court, just wait, I’ll message them right now and call them over!"
Eager to impress Chen Nuo, Sun Wukong soon said with a smile, "Just wait, master, the friends I’ll call over all carry status and are much stronger than those present here."
Chen Nuo nodded, trusting his disciple.
