Journey to the West: Signing in for 500 Years-Chapter 595 - 589: Fight to Death [Seeking Subscriptions and Monthly Tickets]_1
If Matchmaker hadn't brought up the subject, it wouldn't have been an issue. But its mere mention instantly enraged the Jinghe Dragon King.
The Dragon King bellowed, "The Heavenly Court killed my son, and the Jade Emperor beheaded me, leaving me in this ghastly state, neither truly alive nor dead, constantly on the brink of obliteration."
"You're not here to protect me but to monitor me, to uncover my connection with Master Sha Chen. You harbor ill intentions, and yet you expect me to plead on your behalf?"
He roared repeatedly, his eyes brimming with fury, a profound hatred nestled deep within them.
If not for his lack of strength, he probably would have already thrown himself into a deadly clash with Matchmaker and his two companions.
Seeing that trying to leverage their connection had no effect, Matchmaker hardened his stance. "Old Dragon King," he said, "if you release us, we will speak kindly of you before the Jade Emperor upon our return to the Heavenly Court. From then on, we will no longer trouble your family."
The old Dragon King was indeed moved; his eyes flickered, his gaze hesitant.
Sha Chen merely glanced at him and said, "Dragon King, remember your status and current predicament."
He didn't say much, but it was enough.
The Dragon King's heart trembled. In an instant, he understood that at this moment, he had no right to plead for anyone's mercy. Even his own safety was uncertain, and he could not gain any of Sha Chen's trust. Originally, Sha Chen had instructed him to stay in the Heavenly Court and pass on information for him, an act that was also meant to spare his life. But, distraught over the death of his son, he had recklessly descended to the mortal realm, only to end up dead himself, his family destroyed and his lineage extinguished. And yet, Sha Chen had still come to see him and had saved his life at this very moment. Under such circumstances, what right did he have to beg for mercy on behalf of others?
The Dragon King said, "Their life or death depends entirely on Master Sha Chen's commands; it is not my place to interfere."
Matchmaker and the others grew extremely anxious, panicking.
"Old Dragon King, are you truly not going to plead for us? Don't you care about the lives of your children?"
"If anything happens to us, the Jade Emperor will surely blame you. When a million celestial soldiers descend upon the Flowing Sand River, your children will be obliterated, facing the same fate of utter annihilation as you!"
The Jinghe Dragon King was naturally filled with immense worry and fear.
But, as he had just realized, he had no bargaining chips for negotiation; everything was up to Sha Chen to decide.
Sha Chen sneered. "You're imploring the wrong person. My relationship with him is not one of collaboration or friendship, but that of a lifesaver to the one saved."
"I could save him, or I could let him die. To tell the truth, the sole reason I saved him at all was out of consideration for his nephew and niece."
Ashamed and resentful, the Jinghe Dragon King bowed his head. Yet, he also felt a sliver of fortune; thankfully, Ao Lie and his sister still held some favor in Sha Chen's eyes. It was only because of them that he could be saved. Otherwise, his failure to follow Sha Chen's commands alone would have been sufficient for Sha Chen to abandon him to his fate. After all, Sha Chen had already saved him once and guided him when he was lost. Sha Chen had even preached the Dao to him, allowing his power to break through to heights he had never previously achieved, enabling him to become a Daluo Golden Immortal. But since he himself had chosen to be disobedient and court death, it was only right that Sha Chen wouldn't save him.
The faces of Matchmaker and the Barefoot Immortal grew uglier by the second. They had not anticipated the Jinghe Dragon King being so subservient before Sha Chen, possessing such little standing.
With that, they lost even the leverage of a threat.
As Sha Chen stepped closer, the pressure on them mounted, and they felt an immobilizing force begin to seize them.
An enormous pressure from Sha Chen's overwhelming aura bore down on Matchmaker and his companions. It left their mouths dry, their heads spinning, and their limbs numb. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Finally succumbing to panic and fear, Taoist Master Chen blurted out, "Sha Chen, don't do anything rash! Don't act recklessly! If we perish here, the Heavenly Court will surely know. Then, your relationship with the Heavenly Court, the Jade Emperor, and even the entire Three Realms will become irreconcilable!"
"You're a cautious person. You've avoided venturing out of the Flowing Sand River territory because you didn't want to cause trouble. Surely you don't wish to see the entirety of the Three Realms as your adversary."
Matchmaker and the Barefoot Immortal nodded urgently, extremely anxious.
Inside the cave dwelling, Siti and the three Phoenix sisters watched this unfold, frowning.
Siti sighed and said, "Sha Chen is cautious by nature. He doesn't want to make enemies, just hoping to cultivate honestly and quietly. I'm afraid that this time, he's going to let his enemies off again."
The three Phoenix sisters were somewhat dissatisfied and angry. "These people are pushing us too far, practically walking all over us!" they said. "Are we really just going to let them off the hook?"
"With our father's matchless skills, why should he fear the Heavenly Court? What does it matter if we make an enemy of the entire Three Realms?"
But after saying their piece, they too shook their heads. Given Sha Chen's nature, they felt this matter was likely to fizzle out, at most costing their enemies an arm.
The Jinghe Dragon King knew Sha Chen quite well. At this point, he figured Sha Chen would probably let things slide. However, Sha Chen would certainly need a way to de-escalate the situation gracefully, and the Dragon King had already decided to step forward and plead for mercy for them.
But then, Sha Chen burst into laughter. "Make an enemy of the entire Three Realms?" he said. "Do you three actually hold enough power to represent the entire Three Realms?"
"I've been peacefully cultivating here, bothering no one, yet you came to my doorstep to provoke me. Such bullying is unforgivable. If I let you leave today, you will surely return with even greater ferocity."
"So you'd best be prepared. Don't think your words can threaten me. Even if the Jade Emperor himself were here today, I'd pull him off his high horse!"
Having said that, he lunged forward, unleashing slaughter.
Matchmaker and his companions were struck by terror and despair, but they still decided to fight back at the brink of death, hoping that even in death, they could drag Sha Chen down with them or at least severely injure him.
The Barefoot Immortal roared, "Sha Chen, do you really think you're invincible? The three of us together can contend with even someone at the true Quasi-Sage Peak!"
"And think carefully! If something really happens to the three of us, the Heavenly Court will not let you off! I have Saint Zhenyuanzi behind me, Matchmaker has Lord Yuan Shi, and Taoist Master Chen has the Jade Emperor himself. You're making an enemy of the entire Three Realms!"
But Sha Chen remained unmoved. He overpoweringly suppressed them, wiping out all three on the spot.
Matchmaker and the others fell.
They were strong, all three being Quasi-Saints with exceptional abilities.
But their opponent was Sha Chen, a man whose physical cultivation and mana had both reached the Quasi-Sage Peak. With his current strength, it was likely that no one in the entire Quasi-Saint Realm could challenge him.
Combined with his mastery of the Dao of Space and the Dao of Force, he could probably even contend against a Saint for a short while.
Defeating these three ordinary Quasi-Saints was a simple task.
After dealing with them, Sha Chen returned to the cave dwelling, bringing the Jinghe Dragon King along with him.
THUD.
The Jinghe Dragon King knelt on the ground. "Master Sha Chen," he said, "it's my fault for causing you trouble."
Sha Chen glanced at him and said indifferently, "You shouldn't have come here. Your arrival made them aware of the deep connection between us."
