Journey to the West: Signing in for 500 Years-Chapter 554 - 548: Like Facing a Father [Seeking Subscriptions and Monthly Tickets]_1
Sha Chen paced out.
The muddy ground transformed into a palace. Several people were inside it, with a table and chairs materializing out of thin air.
With a wave of his hand, Sha Chen filled the table with dishes, and several jars of fine wine appeared from his sleeve. He personally poured the fine wine for everyone present.
Then he said, "Please sit and drink."
The Queen of the West sat opposite him, while Chang E stood by the Queen’s side, looking left and right without daring to take a seat. The Three Holy Mother was extremely anxious and likewise did not sit down.
She pleaded urgently, "Big Brother, I beg you to save my Second Brother."
Sha Chen said, "Two unparalleled healers are sitting right here. Even if your Second Brother had truly died, they could revive him. So, what’s the rush?"
Hearing this, the Three Holy Mother felt somewhat relieved and then sat down beside Sha Chen. Still, she seemed unable to find peace or appetite, showing no interest in eating or drinking.
Sha Chen poured her a drink and served her food, flashing a gentle smile that finally put her completely at ease. Then she picked up her cup and downed it in one gulp.
For some reason, Sha Chen’s smile was contagious; upon seeing it, the Three Holy Mother felt assured.
Though the Erlang God was in critical danger, she believed Sha Chen could bring back the dead. If not, then the Queen of the West surely could, since after all, she possessed an elixir capable of reviving the dead. Yet, she felt somewhat guilty.
At that moment, the Queen of the West turned to the Three Holy Mother and said, "Three months ago, it was you who trespassed into Kunlun Mountain, wasn’t it?"
The Three Holy Mother lowered her head. She had thought her secret well kept, only to realize it had been discovered.
She quickly confessed, "I was blinded by foolishness then. To save my Second Brother, I had no choice but to sneak into Kunlun Mountain, hoping to find Your Majesty to heal him. But I lost my way, was misunderstood, and ultimately had to hide and flee in disgrace."
The Queen of the West said, "If you were looking for me, you should have gone directly to ’Another Heaven.’ Don’t wander to the ends of the earth; that’s where the medicinal fields of Kunlun Mountain are, a place I seldom visit."
The Three Holy Mother’s face flushed red. She knew the Queen of the West had seen through her excuses. She lowered her head, deeply ashamed.
The Queen of the West then turned to Chang E and said, "Come now, take a seat."
Chang E sat down but still seemed awkward, not daring to look at Sha Chen or pick up her cup.
Sha Chen said, "Alright, Sister. You’ve exposed our relationship, but I don’t blame you. There’s no need to be so formal."
Chang E was shocked. She suddenly looked up, incredibly astonished, and stammered, "I... I haven’t..."
The Queen of the West also paused, surprised, and asked, "You’re siblings? Since when?"
Sha Chen also paused, then turned to Chang E.
With a flushed face, Chang E said, "Brother, I haven’t revealed our relationship. I only mentioned that I greatly respect your character and hoped to accompany Her Majesty here."
Sha Chen was speechless. So, he had let the cat out of the bag himself. Feeling a bit vexed, he then let out a bitter laugh and said, "Heh, it seems my experience is still too shallow."
The Queen of the West was truly surprised but soon smiled and said, "Who would’ve thought that Chang E is actually your sister? In that case, my palace has certainly benefited."
Sha Chen quickly interjected, "Let’s keep such matters separate."
The Queen of the West wanted to assume a senior’s position, but when she sent her invitation, she had addressed him as a peer, implying equal standing. Indeed, in Sha Chen’s case, other than a Saint, no one could claim seniority over him.
The Queen of the West smiled slightly, not taking offense. She had actually brought this up to lighten the mood and prevent the conversation from growing too heavy.
Then she continued, "Friend, why did you initially refuse to let us in but are now willing to come out?"
She picked up her cup and drained it in one go. Chang E hastily refilled it. Sha Chen, too, had finished his drink, which Chang E respectfully topped off.
The Queen of the West noticed that Chang E, despite acknowledging Sha Chen as her brother, seemed somewhat subservient, as if she regarded him as far greater and herself as insignificant as dust. She didn’t pay it much mind, simply thinking that with Sha Chen’s strength, it was Chang E’s good fortune to be able to call him brother. Being small and humble in his presence was only natural. Little did she know that when Chang E first acknowledged Sha Chen as her sworn brother, their strengths were actually quite evenly matched. But times had certainly changed.
Sha Chen said, "The reason I didn’t let you in is that with so many of you, your overwhelming numbers might trample my flowers and plants, and that would certainly not be desirable."
"So now that you’ve come out, you’re not afraid we’ll all rush you?" the Queen of the West suddenly laughed.
Sha Chen said, "If you believe you have the capability, you may try. Perhaps I could suppress that maidservant you’ve brought with just one hand."
The maidservant he referred to was Battle God Yao Yue. The Queen of the West had thought Yao Yue was well hidden and hadn’t expected her presence to be discovered.
Smiling slightly, she said, "Yao Yue and I are as close as mother and daughter. May I ask her to come down and offer you, Friend, a cup of wine?"
Sha Chen replied indifferently, "I’m afraid she’s too proud to even consider a humble offering from me."
The Queen of the West chuckled softly. With a wave of her hand, she said, "Yao Yue, come here."
Instantly, from above the Flowing Sand River, among the celestial maidens, Yao Yue transformed into a beam of moonlight and entered the illusory palace in front of the cave, coming to stand behind the Queen of the West.
Yao Yue hadn’t heard a word of the prior conversation; she only heard when the Queen of the West called her and thus entered. Now, seeing several people talking and laughing, she relaxed her battle readiness.
The Queen of the West said, "Our friend has already discovered you. Go and offer him wine, and do not neglect the proper courtesies."
Yao Yue was strikingly beautiful and exuded an intense coldness. She was the epitome of an aloof, icy beauty, like a goddess of abstinence, completely different from Chang E’s mature charm and the Three Holy Mother’s elegant modesty.
Without a word, Yao Yue picked up a cup, filled it with wine, and then brought it before Sha Chen, extending it to him.
"Supreme Deity, please drink," she said coldly, her entire body exuding a chill that instantly froze the cup. The Jadescent Nectar within it also froze solid, and she herself seemed to transform into an ice sculpture.
The Three Holy Mother and Chang E were extremely nervous, holding their breath, not daring to utter a sound. They both knew of Fairy Yao Yue’s formidable power; she was a renowned figure in the Heavenly Realm. A hundred thousand years ago, the second and third of the San Xiao sisters had jointly fought her and were no match. Later, the eldest of the San Xiao arrived and dueled with her for forty-nine days, with neither gaining the upper hand before both retreated. This clearly indicated just how formidable Battle God Yao Yue was. Her current gesture of offering wine was, in fact, a probe of Sha Chen’s true strength.
Sha Chen maintained his smile. He merely glanced at the cup, and its frozen contents instantly returned to normal.
Then, he glanced at Battle God Yao Yue. She immediately felt as though she were bearing the weight of the heavens, an immense pressure crushing her body. This overwhelming power filled her with despair.
She then watched, as if controlled, as her own hand slowly lifted the cup to Sha Chen’s lips. Smiling, he drank the now steaming hot fine wine in one gulp.
Once he finished, Battle God Yao Yue felt her strength return. She crushed the cup in her hand and staggered two steps backward. She grunted, her hand instinctively reaching towards her lower back.
The Queen of the West raised her hand and pressed down on Yao Yue’s, saying, "Enough. Sit down and join us for a drink."
Yao Yue sat down silently beside the Queen of the West, but her gaze remained fixed on Sha Chen. Unfortunately for her, Sha Chen did not look back, continuing to drink and eat nonchalantly.
At that moment, the Queen of the West transmitted a mental message to Yao Yue, "How is he?"
Yao Yue replied with a single, stark sentence, "It was like facing my sovereign father!"
HISS.
The Queen of the West nearly had her Taoist heart shatter. Yao Yue’s ’sovereign father’ was, naturally, Donghuang Taiyi! If Sha Chen made Yao Yue feel as if she were facing Donghuang Taiyi, didn’t that mean Sha Chen had already reached the status of a Peak Quasi-Saint? Or perhaps even the absolute pinnacle among them?! Donghuang was the Demonic Emperor, whose physical strength was unparalleled and whose mana was unmatched in the world! Could Sha Chen truly compare to him?!
