Chapter 542: Chapter 536: If You Do Not Want Others to Know [Seeking Subscriptions and Monthly Tickets]_1

Sha Chen sneered. "If one does not wish their actions to be known, they should never have done them in the first place."

Saint Zhunti’s eyes flickered; he truly hadn’t expected Sha Chen to know about this. It caught him completely off guard. The identity of Ancestor Subhuti had to be kept secret, concealed from everyone. This was not only to ensure Sun Wukong willingly joined Buddhism but also to deceive the world, especially the Heavenly Court. After all, it was a widely known fact that Sun Wukong’s rampage in the Heavenly Palace had caused the Heavenly Court a great loss of face.

If the world knew that Ancestor Subhuti was Saint Zhunti’s incarnation, and that this incarnation had taught Sun Wukong Mana and Divine Powers, the consequences would be severe. Especially since Sun Wukong later caused an uproar in the Heavenly Palace. If this news spread, it would undoubtedly strain the relationship between Buddhism and the Heavenly Court. In such a case, the Heavenly Court would have to reconsider aligning with Buddhism, given these implications. Moreover, Buddhism’s own desire to join the Heavenly Court would also face significant obstacles.

However, the Heavenly Court wished to win over Buddhism, and Buddhism intended to leverage the Heavenly Court’s power. The two powers were like a couple with mutual designs, each getting what they needed. If such a relationship were damaged, it would be detrimental not only to the world at large but also to their respective advancements.

How did Sha Chen come to know of this? Zhunti’s expression turned unsightly as he demanded once more, "How do you know of this? It’s impossible, you couldn’t possibly know, even if... even if..."

Sha Chen retorted with a chuckle, "You mean to say, even Saint Nuwa might not be aware of it, hence, you think you can keep it from the whole world."

Zhunti’s eyes flickered yet again, filled with utter shock. Tianpeng and Siti, standing behind him, were also greatly shocked. They seemed to have stumbled upon a huge conspiracy, one that apparently involved many influential figures.

Looking troubled, Zhunti asked, "Who exactly are you, and how do you come to know these things?" He was a Saint, yet today Sha Chen had thoroughly startled him. It was as if Sha Chen were the Saint, not him.

Sha Chen laughed lightly, showing no intention of explaining. In truth, Sha Chen understood Sun Wukong’s situation very well. Sun Wukong was, in essence, connected to Nuwa, but Zhunti had intercepted him. Zhunti sent Sun Wukong to the Mountain of Flower and Fruit. Then, after Sun Wukong broke free from his seals, Zhunti had his incarnation enlighten Sun Wukong, take him as a disciple, and finally send him on the Journey to the West.

All this time, Saint Nuwa was in the dark. By the time Nuwa became aware, Sun Wukong had already created chaos in the Heavenly Palace. For such an act of rebellion, aside from Buddhism, no one would take Sun Wukong in for fear of tarnishing their reputation. Nuwa acted as if Sun Wukong didn’t exist, while Tathagata personally suppressed him, showing Buddhism’s interest in Sun Wukong. Thus, everyone else naturally stopped focusing on Sun Wukong, no longer considering his past deeds. After all, they didn’t regard Sun Wukong as anything significant, but merely a Spirit Monkey.

But Nuwa knew Sun Wukong was the Stone Monkey of Spiritual Brilliance, possessing innate talent and potential. Buddhism, like most, thought Sun Wukong was nothing special—possessing some Mana and talent, he was merely a candidate for the Journey to the West. They didn’t consider him extraordinary, just fortunate to be favored by Buddhism and thus able to undertake the Journey. Only a few, like Nuwa and Zhunti, perceived Sun Wukong’s true talent and destiny-given opportunities. And events proved Sun Wukong indeed possessed genuine abilities.

By the end of the Journey to the West, he had already become a Quasi-Saint, and his Mana was far from weak. Of course, if he were merely an ordinary Quasi-Saint, Sun Wukong wouldn’t have been considered remarkable. What made him formidable was Sun Wukong’s fate-defying opportunity; after the Journey to the West, Buddhism went through another calamity, known as the Wutian Catastrophe. The Wutian Catastrophe swept across the Three Realms, starting within Buddhism, then spreading to the Heavenly Court, and finally ending on Lingjiu Mountain with the combined efforts of celestials and Buddhists. Many participated in tackling this disaster, Zhenyuanzi included, who actively sought to seize the final cause and effect of this catastrophe in order to attain sainthood through his merits. Unfortunately for him, Sun Wukong managed to snatch the opportunity, ultimately becoming a saint against heaven’s will and defeating Wutian as a Sub-Sage. And thus, the catastrophe was ended.

Although Zhunti and Nuwa might not have thought so far ahead, they did recognize Sun Wukong’s limitless potential and planned to instruct him. Zhunti, therefore, was snatching food from the jaws of a tiger, stealing an advantage from Nuwa by secretly guiding and transforming Sun Wukong.

This matter was known to heaven and earth, so how did Sha Chen come to know of it!? If Sha Chen knew and spread the word to Nuwa, it would spell trouble if she came knocking at their door. Zhunti went through such lengths precisely to keep this secret from Nuwa and the Heavenly Court. If such a thing were made public, where would Buddhism’s dignity lie? He too would be engulfed in endless trouble.

Zhunti was troubled, his gaze flickering, unsure of what to do next.

Sha Chen sneered and said, "Zhunti, I am already aware of this matter. If you do not want it to become common knowledge, you better leave quickly. Otherwise, the day Great God Nuwa enters the World of Ultimate Bliss, don’t say I didn’t warn you."

Zhunti scoffed, "Spouting nonsense. Do you really think Nuwa will believe your word over mine? Besides, I am about to take Subhuti back under my wing. When that happens, even if she is upset, there will be no evidence."

Sha Chen chuckled. "Then you’d also have to silence Sun Wukong. Otherwise, if he slips up or something happens to him, he would be the living proof." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Saint Zhunti sneered, and his eyes glinted, but he did not argue. However, he didn’t leave. Instead, he continued to press his attack.

Sha Chen was vexed, having not expected that Saint Zhunti would neither be intimidated nor show any intention of leaving.

All of a sudden, Zhunti said, "Do you know that I actually left the World of Ultimate Bliss several years ago? Do you know what I have been up to these past years?"

Sha Chen replied, "I don’t know, nor am I interested to find out."

Zhunti responded, "But I insist on telling you. I went to the Netherworld. I saw to Maitreya and Xianglong, and I personally witnessed Jin Chanzi’s reincarnation. Heh, I’m well aware of the little game you played on Jin Chanzi, and I’ve already resolved it."

Sha Chen’s heart skipped a beat, and he frowned. Zhunti discovered the oddity with Jin Chanzi and even resolved it? This is trouble.

Zhunti continued, "Jin Chanzi will abandon Buddhism for Taoism solely because of you. He recognized you as his master, heh, don’t think I’m unaware of it. As soon as I made contact with him, I knew everything. Your painstaking efforts are in vain, for you completely underestimate the prowess of a Saint. Jin Chanzi is not someone you can manipulate. He will continue his Journey to the West, and when the time comes, he will turn against you with sword and spear."

Sha Chen pursed his lips, remaining silent.

Zhunti went on, "I also sent Subhuti to Five Finger Mountain. Heh, I never expected you to secretly help Sun Wukong, even allowing him to secretly pursue his Cultivation. He has now accumulated the power of a Quasi-Saint but remains suppressed on Five Finger Mountain, unable to break through. I had Subhuti do me the favor of boring a hole through Five Finger Mountain, allowing Sun Wukong to make a breakthrough directly. He’s even more grateful to Subhuti now, heh, and naturally more obedient to his commands."

Sha Chen’s heart sank, and a grave concern filled him. So, Sun Wukong’s situation has also taken a turn for the worse!?
