Chapter 395: Chapter 262: The Old Man’s Shock (Additional Chapter for Alliance Hierarch Duan Jun Shang Yu!)
Chen Lun was unaware that his actions had been discovered by the people of the Terminal Cocoon.
He had killed five members of the opposing party, but the Terminal Cocoon mistook those killings as the work of a lunatic from the Murder Club, which they assumed was Drake’s doing.
The hatred inexplicably shifted onto Drake.
If Chen Lun knew the truth, he would probably exclaim in surprise, “Well done, Drake.”
If he were to add anything else, it would certainly be, “Good luck, my friend.”
The next day.
...
He returned to the grand villa of Malediz.
When Rey once again saw Chen Lun on the windowsill, she was surprised and pleased, having previously thought their encounter that night was nothing but a beautiful dream.
Little did she know that this angel of the foreign god, Mr. Black Messenger, was actually real!
For some reason, Rey seemed somewhat shy.
“Mr. Black Messenger, I’m very happy to see you again,”
she said.
“So am I, Miss Rey,”
Chen Lun, adjusting his hat, twirled his walking stick.
“This time, I’ve come for the curse on you… the magic from last time failed to completely remove it, so it needs to be cast again.”
He told a kind lie.
“You’re all right, aren’t you, Mr. Black Messenger? You don’t look well. Has casting spells used up too much of your magic power, causing you to feel unwell…?”
Rey carefully asked.
Chen Lun’s brow rose.
He muttered to himself, wondering if he felt a little depressed after hearing about the Terminal Cocoon and the legend of the Three Ladies of Pain?
But where did he look unwell… This little girl must have succumbed to delusion, concocting a whole drama in her mind.
“Oh, perhaps, I do feel a bit stifled in my chest, cough cough…!”
Chen Lun clenched his fist, brought it to his mouth, and coughed twice.
“Mr. Black Messenger!”
Rey’s face was full of worry, tears nearly spilling from her eyes.
She quickly helped Chen Lun to a chair to sit down, then poured him a glass of water herself.
“This… this is water from the mortal world. It might not be able to cure your body or restore your magic power, but it should… um, it should make you feel a bit better.”
Rey was flustered, her round body looking somewhat comical.
Chen Lun secretly observed the young girl, finding her truly innocent.
At that moment, Rey rummaged through her bookshelf, eventually producing two small pebbles, one yellow and one black.
“Mr. Black Messenger, thank you for all your hard work. I don’t have much to repay you with… Mortal riches, I presume, are beneath your concern.”
Rey approached with the two pebbles in hand, offering them timidly.
“These are my treasures. I find them beautiful and hope you will like them too.”
Chen Lun was caught between laughter and tears.
Who said I don’t care about riches…
If you could give me a few thousand or tens of thousands of Gold Pounds, would I even refuse?
But he could not let his angel disguise collapse over a bit of material reward, so he expressed a gratified smile and took the pebbles.
“Hmm, indeed, two charming little stones. I appreciate the thought…”
To his surprise, while Chen Lun had no expectations at first, he was slightly startled the moment he took the pebbles in his hand.
[Supernatural Item – Spirit World Stone (One-time use consumable)]
Item description: Fragments from the Spirit World storm, extremely rare.
Can serve as an anchor to delineate realms, forming a vortex of the Spirit World in the mortal plane, temporarily building a Spirit World conduit to connect two locations for long-distance teleportation.
Warning: This teleportation is irreversible, and the Spirit World Stone will expend its energy and be destroyed after a single use.
‘Isn’t this just a Teleportation Gate… I’ve heard that in my past life, the Three Major Guilds collected these things for just such a purpose.’
Chen Lun was pleasantly surprised.
‘Perfect, I have two stones, I can set them up in two places for a long-distance teleportation! The team’s retreat is secured, I can prepare in advance for a quick escape!’
Rey looked at the gentleman in the black hat seated on the chair, her expression uneasy.
“What’s the matter, Mr. Black Messenger?”
“Ah, I do love this gift. Thank you, Miss Rey,”
Chen Lun secured the Spirit World Stones and gave a polite smile.
Only then did Rey beam with joy.
Chen Lun stood up and downed the glass of water in one gulp.
“I’ve rested well enough now, we can start casting the magic… This time, your curse will be completely eradicated,”
he said and helped Rey lie down on the bed.
The girl hummed in agreement and obediently closed her eyes.
Once again, a simple whistled tune began to play, and Chen Lun activated the hypnotic power of [Mermaid’s Song], lulling Rey quickly into slumberland.
Seeing this, Chen Lun took out a [Bottle’s Bronze Bell], and gently shook it.
Ting-a-ling…
Moments later.
Mr. Bottle appeared from the Spirit World, slowly emerging in the present realm.
“Silver Pot, my friend, what can I do for you?”
The big, bald, black head popped up from the bronze bottle, smiling as he spoke.
“Bronze Bell, this human girl has a curse on her that I hope you can consume,”
Chen Lun patted the bronze bottle and laughed.
“Hmm… a delicious scent, the same as your companion before,”
Mr. Bottle sniffed and said.
“Don’t worry, leave it to me. I never refuse a good meal,”
it opened its mouth wide, and the princess’s bed began to tremble, with sheets and curtains lifted by the windstorm. A black line floated up from Rey’s body, and whoosh, got sucked into Mr. Bottle’s mouth.
After smacking its lips and licking them, it belched.
“Thanks, Silver Pot, for another satisfying meal.”
“It is I who should be thanking you, Copper Pot.”
The two exchanged a smile.
After a few more exchanges of pleasantries, Mr. Pot, seeing that the matter had concluded, took his leave.
Chen Lun watched it return to the Spirit World.
Perhaps because she had been cursed for only a short time, Rey regained her original form almost instantly after the curse was removed.
Her petite figure, long chestnut-red hair, and exquisite features.
She was a pretty little girl.
“In a few years, she should grow into a charming young woman.”
Chen Lun smiled faintly.
Without lingeringsince the affair had been concluded, he decided it was time to make his departure, to leave behind the legacy unseen and unknown.
Once again, he leapt from the windowsill and left the large villa, preparing to return to Amber City.
A moment later.
There was a knock on the door.
Knock, knock…
“Rey, it’s time for dinner. Grandpa has had the cook make your favorite oyster pie.”
After a short pause, receiving no response from the room, the door was suddenly pushed open.
Carrying a plate, Malediz rushed in anxiously.
Behind him followed Pompey and Xibert.
Arriving at the bedside, the three of them were stunned.
The once overweight and unattractive girl had reverted to her original look, her cute and delicate face leaving them momentarily dazed.
The plate in Malediz’s hands was not held securely, and the food clattered to the ground.
“Praise the Sun! My little Rey!”
Expecting some mishap had befallen Rey, Malediz was instead greeted with a surprise.
Tears suddenly streamed down the old man’s face.
The noise woke Rey, who opened her eyes to see her crying grandfather seated at the edge of the bed, which left her at a loss.
“Grandpa Malediz, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?”
Rey was alarmed and confused.
She even thought she might be dead, now looking at her grandfather from a spirit’s perspective, as he wept over her body.
But the next second, that thought vanished.
Because her grandfather happily hugged her to his chest.

“Nothing’s the matter. Rey, you’re better now, grandpa is so happy!”
Malediz said.
“Ah…?!”
Rey struggled free from her grandfather’s embrace and looked down at her own body, hardly believing what she saw.
“It’s true… It’s really true! Mr. Black Messenger wouldn’t lie!”
Rey leapt up in joy, giggling happily.
Malediz was momentarily stunned; he did not understand who this “Mr. Black Messenger” his granddaughter referred to was.
Pompey and Xibert, however, seemed to realize something upon hearing the name.
The two exchanged a glance and then coldly turned their eyes away.
“Little Rey, what are you talking about? Who is Mr. Black Messenger? What exactly happened?”
Malediz asked urgently.
Rey then calmed down but still wore an excited and surprised expression.
“He’s an angel of the foreign gods. Mr. Black Messenger! He is the one who saved me!”
She went on to briefly describe Chen Lun’s appearance.
Upon hearing this, Pompey and Xibert were all the more convinced that this man was indeed the Mr. Jack they knew.
“Old General, the gentleman who cured little Rey, I think I might have guessed his identity,”
Pompey said gravely.
“Hmm? Pompey, what do you know?”
Malediz turned to ask.
But Xibert interjected before Pompey could answer:
“It’s Mr. Jack we met at the meeting yesterday.”
“That’s impossible!”
Malediz frowned.
“How did that young man find out where we live, how did he get past all the security, into Rey’s room, and cure her illness…? It’s completely implausible!”
“Others might not be able to do it, but he definitely can,”
Pompey said with certainty.
Seeing his old superior still doubtful, he sighed and recounted his own family’s past ordeal to him.
Then he emphasized Mr. Jack’s nobility and fearlessness, explaining that he had even saved countless people in Amber City, boldly standing against the Red Apple Church’s sinister sacrifice.
Bradley Square had been destroyed because of it and was renamed “Black Messenger” in his honor after being rebuilt.
Xibert added details.
Malediz’s expression changed from skepticism to shock, to disbelief, and finally he let out a long sigh.
“So… that young man is indeed extraordinary.”
He slumped down on the bed’s edge, holding his granddaughter’s hand in reflection:
“Forgive my age, for there are many things I do not wish to understand… I was completely unaware of such a prominent figure as Mr. Jack.”
Malediz looked towards Pompey and Xibert and said solemnly:
“My arrogance caused no grudge in him, but instead he selflessly helped Rey… I am filled with shame. I owe him a debt of gratitude, and I must pay a visit to thank him in the coming days!”
Pompey smiled slightly.
“Good! Old General, I will accompany you when you go!”
“I’ll come too,”
Xibert chimed in, eliciting a disapproving look from Pompey.
