It All Started With Hatred-Chapter 207: A miracle
Cupping her face affectionately. Jacob placed a lingering kiss on her forehead and felt her body trembling before he pulled away staring into her blue eyes
"It’s not the right time. We’re not ready for this." That’s all he said before he walked away going back to his room
, leaving her standing there.
Layla stood there in a disbelief state. She blinked her eyes a few times before her mind started to understand what just happened.
He was right. She wasn’t ready and it was still early. She just came out of a long relationship. She still needs time to recover.
Turning off the kitchen light. She walked back to her room.
_________
Looking at the sleeping girl in the bed. Alice felt sadness wash over her. Two years ago. Petal was here between them. Laughing, smiling, crying. It’s hard to believe it’s been two years.
Reaching to hold her hand. Alice squeezed her hand gently."It took you too long." She whispered to sleep.
Looking at Ethan who was sleeping on the couch. The place he was sleeping in for the last two years."He’s waiting for you." Alice whispered again.
Smiling at her. Alice picked up the medical report on the table to read it. Recently she was busy with graduating from medical school and hadn’t visited her or checked on her medical reports
While Alice was reading the reports and Ethan was sleeping. They failed to notice the miracle that was happening until the strong beeping sound filled the room alerting both Ethan and Alice.
"What happened?" Ethan asked not believing what was happening.
"Call the doctors, quickly." Alice instructed the nurse.
"She’s waking up." Alice replied to her brother not believing herself.
Ethan felt as if he was being pulled back to life.
Petal’s eyes fluttered a few times not looking at someone In particular. Her heart beating was fast and she seemed to have trouble with breathing.
Doctors rushed to the room and immediately started to examine Petal along with Alice. Lana, who was informed, rushed to the room.
"Give them some time, Ethan." Lana said, pulling her son out of the room.
"I need to be beside her. What if she felt..." The miracle of her waking up made him unable to think straight.
"Relax Ethan. She just came to, she won’t be fully awake for a few days. Let the doctors do their work." Lana cut him off seeing how happy and nervous he was.
The doctors spent two hours doing a medical examination while Ethan and Lana waited outside.
The restless-impatient Ethan kept walking back and forth during that time. He was anxious and frightened that she might have gone back into a coma again.
She was in a coma for two years. It’s normal to be worried and agitated.
Once the doctors allowed them to enter. Ethan was the first one who almost ran inside.
The life-supporting machines were removed. The tubs that were attached to her nose and mouth were removed.
"She is just sleeping. Her body is exhausted but she’s fine." Alice said seeing how Ethan looked scared when he saw her sleeping.
Hearing this. Ethan relaxed, he took a chair and sat close to her bed. Waiting quietly for her to wake up, not wanting to disturb her in her sleep.
He will let her rest as long as she ends and when she wakes up. He wanted to look in her eyes for as long as she would let him.
"Let’s give them some space." Lana said, pulling Alice out of the room and signaling for the doctors to leave the room.
Petal slept from the afternoon to midnight. One would think that she was still in a coma. The only thing that made him relaxed is the movement of her hands in her sleep.
For a person who has been sleeping for two years. It’s normal to register things slowly and that is what happened with Petal. It took her three days to realize what was happening around her and understand what was being said to her.
At first, she was confused and spent the most time sleeping. On the fourth day. Ethan was surprised to find her up early staring at the closed window.
"Good morning." Ethan said in a low voice but she didn’t hear him or maybe she was spacing out.
Walking closer to the bed. Ethan touched her hand and she flinched as she turned to look at him.
"It’s alright." Ethan said cupping her face.
Seeing it was Ethan. Petal relaxed, She tried to leave her hands but they were weak and she couldn’t move them properly.
Seeing that she was struggling. Ethan helped her to sit on the bed. Due to sleeping for a long time without moving her muscles lost strength. The doctors advised that she start physical therapy next week.
Petal peered up at him with eyes filled with questions. She wanted to know how long time has passed.
Ethan understood what she was thinking about. Sitting on the bed, he took her hand in his.
"You are wondering about many things. You’re confused and your memories are unclear and blurry. It’s normal." Ethan said as messaged her hand gently and she tried to squeeze his hand to his attention.
"Do you remember what laid you to this condition?" He asked, trying to know how much she remembered.
Ethan watched how hard she pushed herself to remember. He reached to cup her face, telling her to not push herself too much.
All I remember was the screaming voices. Ethan’s pale face. Her body gives up. The feeling of intense pain in her chest. She was injured and bleeding heavily. So, PetaI nodded her head.
Ethan’s eyes narrowed remembering that dark day. "You have been severely injured because you entered a coma." He paused, observing her reaction slowly.
Petal was aware was in a coma but what she doesn’t know is for how long. She stared at Ethan waiting for him to continue.
"You have been in a coma for two years." He continued.
Petal’s eyes widened and for some reason, tears gathered in her eyes. She wasn’t sad but she wasn’t happy either.
She didn’t understand the nature of her feelings right now.
