Island Survival: Starts by chopping a tree-Chapter 71 - 67 Angry Megalanian
So, a thorough plan is to ambush and tire out the Megalania.
The goal is to deal with the megalomania. Jeff needs a carefully planned ambush, not to kill it outright, but to lure it, exhaust it, and keep himself safe, of course.
Now that he had some plans, he tied some ropes in some tree trunks, along these to escape with a swing of climb if necessary.
After trying about five ropes in the tree trunks, he had no rope left. Pulling it and lifting himself off the ground, the rope did not tear from his weight.
"This is good," Jeff uttered, placing it in faraway trees since he needed to dodge and run if he was going to get chased.
When that was done, he began his work. He then lit the dry materials inside the smoke bomb using fire.
The dry fire then began to catch fire within 2-3 seconds, and it quickly started producing heat and smoke.
He was waiting for the initial smoke, and once he saw that the dry material was burning, the green leaves inside began to smolder and produce even thicker smoke.
It took about 8 seconds since the smoke bomb was densely packed. When that was done, Jeff hurriedly got out from his hiding place and moved a bit closer to the cave.
Looking at the dark and gloomy cave, he throws the smoke bomb as soon as he hears the cracking from the dry twigs and leaves.
He threw it about 6 seconds after it was ignited; the smoke bomb was oozing out with smoke as it flew towards the cave.
He carefully timed it since this is a critical procedure if he waited too long after the igniting process of the bomb.
Like beyond 8-10 seconds the bomb would produce too much heat or smoke, making it difficult to handle or throw.
And also throwing it too early might mean it doesn’t produce enough smoke to be effective in driving out the Megalania.
When it was swallowed by darkness, he did not just stand there when it saw that it was a success.
He retreated immediately, going to a safe distance to avoid inhaling the smoke or being near the cave entrance when the Megalania emerged.
"This smoke bomb would at least last me about 3 minutes before burning out completely. And the green bamboo leaves will smolder slowly, creating a continuous flow of smoke this time," he said to himself.
Jeff then positioned himself about 50 meters away from the cave entrance, giving himself enough distance to react if the Megalania charged.
He picked up at least one rock and climbed to higher ground using the rope he had attached earlier.
After one minute, the cave began to fill with smoke, which was escaping from inside. He could also see that the cave was filled with dense smoke.
"Come out, little fella," Jeff murmured, readying himself as he threw the rock that came hurling towards the cave.

Seeing the notification, his eyes blackened that it was so low, but he did not delve deeper as the sound of the rock echoed in the cave.
Another 1 minute passed, and the smoke became even thicker as he notched the arrow, readying his self.
When suddenly, small footsteps came inside the cave, and a big green lizard began to appear, Jeff smiled when it saw that the Megalanai was coughing.
The smoke clearly went into its nose all the way to its nostrils; that burning sensation was too hard to handle since it was an animal with an acute sense of smell.
When it got out, it escaped a bit far from its cave. It stopped and looked back at its home, narrowing its eyes to see why it was suddenly caught in fire.
Jeff saw that it was distracted and knew that it was time. He then squinted his eyes as he activated his skill to have a clear focus.
[Piercing Shot activated...]
The system uttered as he then let go of the arrow. The arrow came flying like a bullet, going straight, like there was no wind to hinder its progress.
He targeted its head when the arrow closed on the back of its head. His mile grew wider and wider when suddenly his smile froze.
The scales in its head were so tough that his bamboo arrow, with no hardness for the sharp tip, snapped.
The Megalania, which was very open, looking at its home in confusion, was hit in the head. The blow made it angry, and even though it did not pierce it, it still hurt.
It then stared at the surrounding area full of wariness, Jeff seeing this know that this is bad.
The Comodo dragon was looking at its surroundings with its piercing eyes, not knowing that the culprit was up in the trees in the center.
Because of the smoke, his sense of smell was useless for now.
"I really thought it could pierce and kill it, so it was worth trying, " he said inwardly.
Picking up another arrow, this time, he aimed at another place, not his head but something else.
Closing one of his eyes again, he fired the arrow as it hurled down with great speed. It made some whistling sound as it hit the tail.
The reason for this is to provoke it, not hurt it. The Megalania, who was very much prepared, swung its tail, snapping his attack.
Then, its piercing eyes looked at where he was hiding, Jeff, who was surrounded by branches and leaves as his cover.
Catching the lizard’s gaze, "I’m found," the Megalania, filled with rage, rushed towards the tree.
Jeff saw this and was ready to jump. When it arrived and began to climb using its sharp nails, its crimson-red eyes were filled with killing intent.
When the timing was right, he jumped from the tree and rolled on the ground to balance himself. The Megalania, seeing the familiar silhouette, was very angry.
It was actually the prey that came to trouble him days ago. He should have killed it if it was just going to be trouble.
But in this world, there is no medicine when you make unrepairable mistakes, so when Jeff was on the ground, he looked at the lizard, which was staring intently at him.
"Catch me if you can, big lizard," he provoked the beast. Last, it let go of the tree bark and chased after him.
Jeff was very fast, seeing that it was chasing him now. With his speed and agility, he led the Comodo dragon to dense, fallen logs or rocky areas to make it expend more energy navigating these obstacles.
Of course, he was not exempted from this since you can see that his breathing became ragged and the sweat on his face poured down like a river.
He greatly avoided open areas since this lizard could sprint at full speed. Looking behind and glancing at his arrows, which showed that he only had one left, he knew that he needed to find some opportunity.
Even if he had, it couldn’t pierce its skin, so this was his mistake since he knew that its scales were tough. He literally made this wooden-tipped arrow, making a fool of himself.
Jeff made sure to maintain a safe distance, about 15 meters ahead of the Megalania.
While running, he skidded his hands and threw a rock that flew and hit the lizard’s nose.

The Megalania, which was hit in the nose so harshly, was fueled with anger and tried to charge, but Jeff was very much prepared; he just used the surrounding forest to maneuver his way.
Its fury was vivid in its eyes because it couldn’t catch up to the little guy it was chasing. Jeff then arrived, tied the rope, and used it to swing and climb the tree.
Seeing he climbed up, it used its sharp claws to climb as well, but Jeff pointed his pear at its head, and then it came shooting down.
It dodged the spear tip, making its progress, stopped, Jeff finally hit its cheeks, and the stone spear tip pierced its skin but not too deep.
But the pain was there, and the lizard dropped to the ground. Looking at him angrily, it began to circle the tree from where he was, waiting for him to come down.
From this elevated position, Jeff observed the creatures as they looked at him deadly in the eyes.
"If you are planning to wait for me hah! That will not work," Jeff said, feeling amused by this creature.
He could also sense that the creature was really tired, and Jeff must not let go of this chance. If he rested, the creature would rest as well, so he had to act.
"Hope this will get a clean hit," Jeff said, pointing the bow at the lizard again.
This time, he focused the aim on its cheek, where his spear had earlier pierced it. He activated his skill as he injected his strength into the arrow.
[Piercing Short Activated...]
The system announced as it flew towards its face, but the Megalanian was very much prepared from his schemes.
It stood up its upper body and swiped at his arrow, looking at him smugly like it was saying, ’Is that all?’
