Island God: Going From Level 1 To World Ruler-Chapter 123: Plots
Midas felt a rage from deep within his mind quickly swallow him. For a moment, he had a flashback to the months of silence he endured during the process of transmigrating from Earth to Fell-Terra.
He had vivid memories of his cries and regrets. There were many times when he felt like he was screaming at the top of his lungs for forgiveness.
For another chance at life.
"I swear! I will follow my dreams! I won’t let anything stop me! I will live a life that is worth living!" His cries felt hopeless, yet he yearned for it nonetheless.
"Just give me one more chance! Just one! I won’t ever break! I won’t ever stop! I won’t ever bow!"
...
Michael’s body was shaking slightly from fear, his eyes wide with shock.
"W-wait a second..." He muttered, "D-did you just... You just tried to kill me! I would have died just there had I not ducked down!" He screamed, baffled.
The crowd quickly followed up with their own independent commentary.
"He really just tried to end him right there!"
"That’s a bit barbaric, no?"
"Did he try to kill Michael? That’s not a good look..."
Michael didn’t attempt to get up from the ground. In fact, it seemed it was petrified in fear.
*DING*
A loud notification sound echoed through the heavens as a panel appeared in the sky. It seemed the event was going to begin soon.
Seeing this, Midas’s anger slowly melted into disgust. He glared down at Michael with condescension like a slave owner spitting at his slave.
"Pathetic..." Midas sheathed his blade before walking straight by the blonde young man on the floor, "If I see you in this competition, I will try my best to end your life." He stated as he walked past.
Gasps rippled through the crowd.
This wasn’t just a sly remark. It was a direct threat to Michael’s life that all eyes in the perimeter were witness to.
Midas silently walked through the crowd to free himself of the attention.
No player in his path said a word, simply moving aside and casting curious gazes.
A few players here and there cast more serious glances toward him.
Focusing a bit more on hearing, Midas could decipher plots against him that already seemed to be getting formed.
Most were defensive plans.
"Let’s stay away. If we meet him, we must..."
"That guy seems like trouble. Here’s how we will deal with him if we happen to be nearby."
"Hmm... I think teaming up against him would be best."
Hearing all of this, Midas was slightly shocked to see how many people were deciding to team up.
’It seemed like a bad idea, since this competition is each man for themselves. I didn’t even think it was allowed.’ He thought to himself, ’But then again, these players must not have an army such as mine, so teaming up would be much more attractive to them.’
Midas continued deciphering all of these defensive plans against him. He wanted to make sure that if there were any plans being made offensively against him, he would know about it beforehand.
"Hmm... our abilities put together are nearly unstoppable. Everyone else is playing around him, but I think we should use this to our advantage." A tall player who looked about thirty-two years old whispered to his friend. This man had dark skin and wore quite expensive-looking clothing.
"I agree. I say if we are given the same zone, we should most definitely tail him. He will undoubtedly gain a flag that we can steal right out of his hands using our abilities." The other player said greedily. He was stubbier and on the more obese side.
"Hehehe... it will be like stealing candy from a baby." The original player chuckled as he gazed toward Midas.
Midas instantly turned and glanced at the two players at that very moment, making them raise their guards immediately.
Midas’s gaze was stern, ’Hmm... they are weak.’ He thought, turning and walking away.
"W-what an intense gaze." The taller, dark-skinned player exclaimed.
"Yeah... you don’t think he heard us or anything, do you?" The shorter man replied, slightly worried.
"How could he? We were whispering in a crowd of hundreds of loud voices..."
"Yeah, you’re right."
As Midas made it two school bus lengths away from the main chunk of the players, Michael finally stood up.
"Wait..." He muttered, capturing some eyes again. ’This guy... he tried to kill me. Me! Michael Angelion, the player backed by Meniras itself! How could this happen? How could this be allowed to happen!? The lesser should never be able to humiliate the greater like this!’ He yelled inwardly, fuming with anger.
"Wait right there, you--!" He was suddenly cut off.
[Welcome, all players!]
All tongues slowly stopped moving as heads turned to face the sky.
Above them, a glowing hologram-like figure quickly materialized. The figure was thousands of square feet in size, hovering in the air like some sort of god!
His lower body melded into the air, while his head and torso were transparent but clear to see.
The figure resembled an older man with a long white beard and a kind face. His attire was unlike anything Midas had ever seen.
Large golden beads lined his coat, which was made of reinforced metal and a dark cyan fur.
"You have all waited long, so I will not waste any more of your time! My name is Azalaus, and I will be hosting this grand tournament of conquest!" The massive figure reached his hands out boisterously as he spoke.
A smile appeared on Midas’s face, ’It’s beginning...’ He said to himself.
"The game is simple!" Azalaus swiped his hand across the air and created a ginormous map of the peninsula that housed Meniras and many other cities and towns.
The map was vertical, like a giant TV in the clouds.
"Here is where we currently stand," Azalaus swiped his hand across the map again, creating ten variously colored zones throughout the peninsula, "And here are the ten zones that exist! All of you will be split into these zones, and must compete to conquer as many zones as possible!" Azalaus continued explaining.
’It’s really beginning!’ Midas’s eyes widened as his smile grew.
