ISEKAI? More like I See Crap!-Chapter 299: The Beast Within ( )
Chapter 299: The Beast Within ( 299 )
Hazuki had been walking for more than an hour.
The further he went, the heavier the gravity pressed down.
The air itself felt thicker. The trees leaned strangely, warped by invisible force. The ground pulsed with faint mana disruption, the telltale shimmer of an unstable magic zone spreading wider with every step.
Ridan floated silently, watching from above.
His usual smirking presence was still there—but his thoughts had gone quiet.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, memories stirred.
A thousand years ago.
He had walked this same path.
Back when he was alive.
Back when he led a full seven-man party.
Even then—with all their preparation, with the strongest frontliners of their era, a top-tier tank and dual-wield swordmaster, an archer that never missed, a high priest blessed by the gods themselves—they had struggled just to move.
The gravity here wasn’t natural.
It crushed mana flow.
It bent spell circles.
It scrambled minds and limbs alike.
Without his own field stabilization spell, and without the high priest’s sacred blessing, they wouldn’t have made it five steps into this zone.
Ridan stared.
And yet...
This human.
Hazuki.
He just walked.
Sure, he’d felt it at first. Slowed down. Commented. Joked.
But seconds later, he shrugged it off like it was morning fatigue.
Now he was walking again—hands in pockets, shoulders loose, posture lazy.
Like there was nothing wrong at all.
Like this was a stroll.
Was he really that dumb?
Or just... that careless?
No—that wasn’t it.
Ridan narrowed his eyes.
Hazuki wasn’t stupid.
He was lazy. He was blunt. He complained a lot.
But when it mattered—he just did things.
He didn’t overthink. He didn’t calculate.
He moved.
"...What the hell are you made of, partner." Ridan muttered under his breath.
Ridan knew.
This black-haired human—Hazuki—was different.
He wasn’t summoned by any kingdom.
Not by any race.
No contract, no magic circle tied to the known summoning rituals.
He just... appeared.
Dragged here by those two mysterious men.
Ridan didn’t even know how.
Only that those two told him to guide this guy.
No explanation. No reason.
Just "watch him."
Ridan floated above quietly, his gaze fixed on Hazuki’s lazy stride.
He knew the truth.
This guy...
can’t use magic.
Not the proper kind.
Only one basic skill—Elemental Control.
That’s it.
And yet...
His mana pool—was the size of an ocean.
So vast, it made no sense.
No training, no foundation. But the mana was there.
Dormant. Quiet. Untouched power.
Only Ridan and Ellyn knew this.
And this guy—Hazuki—had strength.
Ridiculous, stupid strength.
But...
Ridan had seen his memories.
Back when he was first unsealed by accident...
Hazuki was weak.
Pathetically weak.
So weak, he couldn’t even kill a level 1 slime.
He got beaten, poisoned, and nearly died again and again.
And yet...
Now, here he was.
Walking through an unstable magic zone.
Under heavy gravity pressure.
Like it was nothing.
He felt the weight once—and then?
He just kept walking.
Like it never existed.
Ridan hovered silently, watching him.
It was strange.
No—unnatural.
Ridan watched him closely.
It’s like his body grows stronger with each monster he defeats.
No training sessions. No grinding.
He didn’t hunt.
The monsters just come.
And when they did...
They died.
One after another.
Each one stronger than the last.
And Hazuki—he didn’t even care.
He didn’t fight for glory.
He didn’t fight for power.
He didn’t even fight for level-ups.
No...
He never cared about level.
Never cared about wealth.
As his strength rose, as his rank climbed—
his care for those things faded.
The higher his level climbed,
the less he gave a damn.
All he ever wanted—
Enough money to eat.
And a bit left for saving.
Just enough to slowly chase that quiet, simple dream.
Buy land. Build a home.
Prepare for a future with Ellyn.
He already bought the bridal gown.
Next would be the heels, the necklace... the tiara.
All of it, piece by piece.
Even now, with strength that could turn heads in any city—
Strength that could make him rich overnight—
He didn’t chase it.
That herb list from the quest?
He could easily harvest extras and sell them.
One gold each. Ten gold for rarer ones.
But no—he only took what he needed.
One for the quest.
One for sale.
That was it.
Even the Seraphis Flower—
Given to that dwarf girl who offered a single copper coin.
And he’d refused it.
Smiled.
Gave it to her for free.
No hesitation. No complaint.
Ridan smirked.
"What an idiot."
And yet, floating there above him, Ridan couldn’t help but feel it—
That this idiot...
was becoming something terrifying.
"Oi, Ridan!" Hazuki glanced back over his shoulder, catching sight of the spirit floating with a suspicious grin on his face.
"What?" Ridan blinked innocently.
"What are you doin’ smiling alone back there? Going senile or something?"
"Oi!" Ridan huffed, puffing up in the air. "I’m an ancient spirit, not some dusty old man! I don’t get affected by sickness, curses, or whatever this ’senile’ thing is."
Hazuki scratched his cheek with a smirk.
"Oh. I thought maybe you finally snapped. You float too long, your brain starts floating too, you know?"
"Hah!? Says you! The one that everybody calls crazy guy behind his back!" Ridan shot back, arms waving in mock outrage.
Hazuki shrugged. "That was long ago."
"Yeah yeah, suuuper long." Ridan rolled his eyes dramatically. "You’ve not even been in this world for a full year yet. So much for ’long ago’."
"Felt long enough." Hazuki yawned as he walked, hands in his pockets.
"By the way, Ridan." Hazuki said as he stepped over a gnarled root.
"What now?" Ridan floated lazily, twirling midair.
"You promised to teleport me to the Beastkin capital once I get the first heel for Ellyn, right? So I can give it to her."
Ridan snorted. "Yeah yeah, I remember."
Then grinned wide. "But did you find a special magic crystal heel yet? Hmm? No?" frёewebηovel.cѳm
He leaned in mockingly. "Then dream on. Bwahahahaha!"
"Damn you, Ridan." Hazuki muttered.
Ridan smirked, floating just ahead.
"Hazuki."
"Hmm?" Hazuki looked up, still half-dragging his feet under the gravity.
"You might just find the crystal you need to craft that magic crystal heel when we go fetch that Icy Leaf later."
Hazuki blinked. "Oh? For real?"
Ridan shrugged. "Yeah. That area sometimes produces mana-frozen gems. Perfect base material if refined."
Hazuki’s face lit up slightly—until Ridan added with a grin,
"Problem is... you still haven’t found any blacksmith willing to craft a heel, have you? Huh? Heelsman~?"
"Damn it..." Hazuki sighed, rubbing his temple. "Yeah. Still no luck. Every dwarf I asked either laughed at me or chased me out."
Ridan laughed. "Of course! Dwarves love building weapons, armor, and shields. Only a handful bother with accessories and staves. Heels? That’s like asking them to forge a fork made of fairy wings."
Hazuki grumbled. "What kind of world doesn’t have a damn heel-maker..."
Ridan floated upside down again. "Maybe next time try asking with less desperation in your face."
Then Ridan’s expression shifted.
His eyes narrowed.
"Watch out, Hazuki!!"
Before Hazuki could even respond—
WHAM!!!
A massive fist slammed into his head from the side.
Hazuki was launched, flipping midair like a ragdoll and crashing through two trees before slamming into the dirt with a loud thud, dust and debris scattering everywhere.
Ridan spun midair, floating sharply back as he looked toward the attacker.
A hulking figure stood in the clearing.
Muscles rippled unnaturally under its thick, bruised-green skin.
Too bulky for an orc.
Too lean for a proper troll.
And fast.
Far too fast.
"Shit..." Ridan muttered.
Its long arms twitched with residual momentum.
Flinchman.
A high-tier monster type known for counter-smashing before opponents could act, hitting hard and fast like a living trap.
"Damn it... that thing’s high-tier." Ridan growled, eyes darting toward where Hazuki had flown.
He hovered silently above the shattered trees and kicked-up dirt cloud, trying to spot him.
Then—
Something moved.
A sudden blur shot out from the dust, faster than a blink.
A fist smashed straight into the monster’s face, its thick jaw twisting unnaturally from the blow.
The bulky beast was launched backward, limbs flailing in the air.
Before it could even land—
Another strike came from the other side—a spinning heel kick to the ribs, cracking bone and sending the Flinchman crashing through a tree, the trunk snapping like a twig.
Ridan floated higher, eyes wide—then grinned.
"Ahhh... here comes the crazy guy~"
Through the settling dust, a figure emerged.
Barefoot.. Hands flexing.
Hazuki.
Grinning.
That wild, uneven grin.
The kind that made even monsters hesitate.
His hair was slightly tousled, eyes sharp with an unnatural gleam.
No sword.
No stance.
No hesitation.
Just raw, walking danger.
Inside Ridan’s mind.
The raw Hazuki.
Man... today I get to see it again.
That crazy face.
That wild, unpredictable gleam in his eyes.
That maniac, sly grin curling up like he’s enjoying every second of it.
The face of a man who loves fist fights.
No sword. No spell.
Just brute strength, raw instinct—
And a mood so unhinged it made beasts flinch before they even swung.
Ridan floated slowly above, arms crossed now, grinning faintly.
Oh... that monster’s not gonna be safe...
