ISEKAI? More like I See Crap!-Chapter 197: Famous Without Fame ( )
Chapter 197: Famous Without Fame ( 197 )
"D-Doesn’t he want money?" one receptionist whispered to her partner, eyes wide.
"I... I don’t know anymore..."
The two looked at each other—then rushed forward again.
"Mister Hazuki!!"
Hazuki sighed inwardly as their footsteps quickened behind him.
Ugh... this is annoying...
He stopped with a long, lazy exhale and turned slightly.
"How much?" he asked flatly.
The two girls blinked.
"We... we don’t know the exact amount, but probably more than three or four gold coins."
Hazuki rubbed his chin.
"Hmm... Ridan."
"Yeah?"
"You think those monster piles we left behind are worth more?"
Ridan didn’t hesitate.
"Easily ten gold, man. Maybe more if you haggle right."
The two receptionists glanced at each other again.
Who... is he talking to?
Hazuki shrugged.
"Well, alright then, ladies. I’m busy. So—see ya."
He waved casually and continued walking toward the marketplace, hands in his pockets like nothing had happened.
"M-Mister Hazuki!!" they shouted again, scrambling after him.
"Eeeeeee... these two..."
Hazuki sighed inwardly as he walked, the marketplace drawing closer.
I don’t even want to go back to that adventurer guild...
Not after they rejected the goblin ears...
Really messed up my mood. Swinging hard.
His eyebrow twitched slightly at the memory.
"What!!?" one of the receptionists gasped behind him.
"We were told to bring you straight to the guild!" the other added. "Guild Master Braham insisted!"
Hazuki stopped walking again.
He sighed , hands still stuffed in his pockets.
"...Alright."
The girls blinked.
"Really?"
"I’ll go," Hazuki said, glancing over his shoulder.
"After I finish here."
The two receptionists paused, ears flicking nervously.
"Y-You promise?"
Hazuki shrugged. "Yeah. Sure. Whatever."
Then kept walking like nothing happened.
Ridan, still lounging on his shoulder, smirked.
Hazuki kept walking.
Behind him, the two guild receptionists kept following.
"...What now?" Hazuki asked without turning.
"Umm..." one of them said timidly.
"We were told to... make sure you actually go to the guild. If you don’t, the Guild Master will be mad at us."
Hazuki let out another long, drawn-out sigh.
"I said I’ll go after I finish here. Ugh..."
They didn’t respond.
One of the girls hesitated. "May... may I ask what you’re doing in town first?"
Hazuki stopped just before the corner that led into the main merchant row.
"To sell the monster piles I killed," he said plainly, thumbing toward his right shoulder.
"With my partner here."
Ridan gave a smug grin from his perch.
The two girls blinked at the empty air.
"...Partner...?"
Hazuki didn’t clarify.
Instead, he kept walking.
"If it’s monster corpses, the guild can also buy them," the other receptionist offered carefully.
"Yeah, yeah. Not interested," Hazuki said flatly.
Then turned his head slightly.
"Ridan. Show me where the merchant guild is."
The smoky spirit floated just slightly higher, arms crossed and smug.
"Left turn after the fishmonger with the big gut."
"Got it."
The two receptionists stood behind, confused and whispering.
"Is he always like this...?"
"I don’t know... but I think I understand why people call him crazy..."
Just as Hazuki turned the corner toward the marketplace, one of the receptionists hurried a step ahead, almost blocking his path.
"M-Mister Hazuki! About the monster corpses—"
He raised an eyebrow.
She gulped and continued, "It’s... best if you sell them at the Adventurer Guild."
Hazuki stared, unimpressed.
"Merchant Guild doesn’t usually deal with raw monster materials like that," she explained quickly. "Especially not full corpses. And they don’t have a dismantling facility."
Her partner nodded beside her. "The Adventurer Guild does. We can process, weigh, and grade the materials properly. You’ll probably get more value that way."
Hazuki frowned slightly.
He looked to the side, muttering, "Ridan?"
Ridan floated just above his shoulder, flickering with faint mist.
"She’s not wrong. Merchants might buy small stuff—fangs, bones, clean hides—but whole corpses? You’ll just waste time negotiating. They’ll lowball you."
Hazuki clicked his tongue.
"So the guild’s actually useful this time, huh..."
He sighed.
"Fine. After this, I’ll go straight to the guild. Happy?"
The two receptionists nodded so quickly their ears wiggled.
"Y-Yes! Thank you, Mister Hazuki!"
One of the receptionists stepped slightly ahead, turning to guide him.
"Adventurer Guild is this way, Mister Hazuki."
Hazuki gave a small nod and followed casually, hands in his pockets.
The other receptionist trailed a step behind him, staying alert.
As they walked through the cobblestone streets, more and more passersby turned to stare.
Beastkin vendors paused mid-shout. A few townsfolk whispered to each other. Even a group of rookie adventurers elbowed each other and pointed subtly.
Hazuki raised an eyebrow.
...Why are they looking at me like that?
He glanced around.
No one said anything directly. But their eyes followed him.
He scratched the back of his neck, slightly annoyed.
Well... whatever.
He kept walking, not slowing down.
Eyes forward. Head clear.
All he wanted was to sell the loot, get paid,
"Ridan?" Hazuki muttered, eyes lazily scanning the road ahead.
"Hmm?"
"...Do you think it’s a good idea to get drunk once in a while?"
"Oh?" Ridan floated up slightly, purple mist curling lazily from his form.
"You wanna drink?"
"It’s been so long, man."
"Heh. Up to you."
The spirit stretched out like a satisfied cat made of fog.
"Not my problem."
Hazuki grinned.
"Yes! After I sell all that loot, I’m going to drink. A lot."
Ridan floated into a lazy spin above his shoulder.
"Don’t forget the grilled meat."
"Hey, that’s the main course, man."
Behind him, the two guild receptionists exchanged glances—one walking ahead, the other trailing behind.
They didn’t say a word out loud.
But inside their minds...
...He’s talking to himself again...
Is he crazy?
Or... can he really talk to spirits like the rumors say?
Neither of them knew.
"Mister Hazuki, we’ve arrived."
The receptionist at the front turned, gesturing toward the large building ahead.
"Please come inside."
Hazuki looked up.
The familiar front of the Macia Adventurer Guild stood before him.
"Hmm? Oh."
He stepped forward without hesitation, hands still in his pockets.
The doors creaked open as they entered.
Inside, the main hall buzzed with activity—adventurers chatting, weapons clinking, papers shuffling. But the moment Hazuki walked in...
The noise lowered.
Heads turned.
Whispers rose again.
"...That’s him, right?"
"Black hair... the one who wiped out the monsters."
Hazuki didn’t react.
He walked through the stares like they weren’t there.
