Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer-Chapter 1202: Forecast to cloudy days
[OP: ]
-Swish!
The creature was strong and agile as well.
It moved in a blink of an eye and reached the person that was closest to it, taking out its claws to slash away at the fragile body of the human.
There was nothing but bloodlust surrounding the creature. Its presence was so strong that some experienced knights would sense it from a mile away.
An experienced mage was the same. Someone who could sense a being of this level was, this time, present there as well.
-Ooooooooong!
As soon as the creature reached the human frozen with fear, the mage had already activated his spell.
-Swaaaaaaa!
A gust of blade-like wind emerged right where the creature was standing and pierced right through its hide.
"Grrrr!"
But it did not deal fatal damage to the beast as it managed to avoid the attack right when it sensed it.
It had sharp senses. There was no way to get past this one, but it was still a beast of (Blue) rank at the end of the day.
"So, you are a little skilled I see."
Brian stepped forward after casting a protective barrier spell around the caravan and the people of his party. The mutants were unpredictable creatures so he did not want to take any risks.
Also, since Brian wanted to finish this as quickly as possible, he moved quickly and without giving the creature any chances, he used his attack magic and created a wave of fire.
(tier-3) magic spell crafted with his unique technique– three spells like that of fire attributes combined in a triangular position and trapped the creature in a storm of fire.
"Graaaaaaa!"
The attack was effective this time since the creature was caught off guard. However, the creature was still no small threat to them.
It possessed a tough hide that wasn't going to be damaged with some fire. Killing it was going to be difficult. Also, this mutant fed on blood, something that was available in great quantity all around them right now.
"AWOOOOOOO!"
It howled once again and activated its skill {Blood mist} and created a strange red mist.
"Oh?" The mist itself contained poisonous properties so if someone were to get in contact with it, they would lose their consciousness immediately and become paralysed.
After that, the creature would deal with them quickly and they would have to face something even more terrible.
"It's not strong enough though." The skill was pretty effective for a beast of Blue rank, however, it was still not enough to take down a mage of his level.
-OOOOOOONG!
The battle was being dragged on with each second that he spent with this beast. The beast was hiding in the fog but Brian knew exactly where it was, so he cast a new spell.
-Swiiiiiiiiish!
The winds that appeared around him this time contacted water within them, making them far sharper than before.
The spell was not of (tier-3) anymore either. This was a (tier-4) magic, one that had power far beyond its level.
"Awo!"
The beast, as soon as the winds appeared around Brian, immediately backed off. It knew in an instant that these winds were not something it could deal with.
If it were to get hit by these sharp winds, even its tough hide would not block these attacks.
"Grrrrr!"
The creature stopped and took a step back from him. The spells that Brian was maintaining right now were not something he could maintain for too long. Even the merchant leader knew about this and wanted to do something about this situation.
But there was nothing that she could do for him. She could not even help him in any manner right now… all of them were depending on him right now.
It seemed like he could deal with this creature, so they were placing their hopes on this person.
"You're going to use someone's things now, huh?" The beast knew winning would be difficult, so it started absorbing the blood of the creatures that Brian had previously defeated with its skill.
The absorbed blood was going to help it regenerate the stamina and energy that it had lost and along with that, it would have healed it if needed as well.
However, since he wasn't hurt, the creature simply recovered its stamina and also used {Physical enhancement} to further strengthen its body.
It knew how strong the opponent was but there was a strange glee on the creature's face right now.
As if some beast had found some worthy prey, it was looking at Brain with the eyes of a predator. It wanted to destroy him and then destroy every single being that was around him.
The creature was going to take down the mage first though and to do that, he needed to get past the winds guarding him.
The physical enhancement was going to help with that…
"Awoooooo!"
Or so it must have thought when it dashed forward to attack him.
"It's not a game, you know?" When the creature let its guard down, exactly at that moment, Brain conjured the spells that he had been casting on the ground all around him.
-OOOOOOOOOOONG!
This was a three-attribute combination spell that was activated from the fire magic circles that were on the ground, the wind magic circles in the air around them, and the water magic circle that sat a level above them.
The three kinds of spells combined together and created a field which became a death barrier to anything that stepped inside of it— like the foolish puppy.
"AWOOOOO!"
When it entered the mage's field, it was immediately burned by the first spell circle that it stepped on.
When the first spell circle was activated, the rest of the circles also combined together with it to increase the output of the spell.
At the same time, the wind attribute spells combined together to increase the flames and the water attribute spells that were above the wind attribute spells, increased the sharpness of the winds, not interfering with the flames directly.
The way those attacks were coordinated and perfectly executed surprised the people who were watching this scene.
Even the creature that cried in agony because it could not handle this attack did not think it would face an attack of this level.
"Awoooo…"
Still, the beast somehow managed to survive the obvious death after forcefully breaking out of the spell's range.
"Tsk."
Brian did not like it, obviously, so he created another spell the very next moment, however, before he could cast that spell… his eyes were met with something unexpected.
"Grrrrr…!"
The creature had gray fur and the aura that it was radiating was dark blue. When it collected the blood, it increased the dark aura around it and made it seem even scarier.
The creature was a tough opponent, but after being cornered so much, there was only one thing left on it… the skill that would take most of its remaining power from it.
"Mage sir! That skill!"
"That's {Death glare}! I've heard about that skill!"
"No! Sir mage…!"
Very few beings possessed this skill, but anyone who got in contact with the {Death glare} of the creatures possessing less Mana than them was immediately dealt with a Mana counterflow.
This skill was very fatal especially to mages so it was always recommended that the mages never go anywhere near these beings. Even the normal beings who do not possess much Mana were advised to stay away from creatures like these and let the authorities handle them.
"No! Sir mage! No!"
Even the merchant leader was not expecting the creature to have it… the glowing red eyes with that certain fluctuating like was something she had seen in the past as well, so she knew just how dangerous this skill was.
The mage was only (tier-4) master at best. From the spells that he had been using, she knew he must be some kind of a genius.
But this did not make him invincible.
-Oooooooooooong!
There was no way he could take a skill like that head on… the outcome of this was also decided then.
"Uhun uhun…" She had tears in her eyes when she thought about how the mage who had done so much to save them would be.
The outcome of those who experienced Mana counterflow was always horrible. She knew if he had experienced that, then the death he got must not be painless.
-Swiiiiiiiiish!
She hated herself. She hated the situation that they were in right now.
This was not supposed to happen. None of this was supposed to happen when this was simply a regular delivery.
This was not right… this was not right. The mage… the mage that their guild sent, the mage had died just because of her…
"Huh?" with countless complicated thoughts, she looked up with tears dripping down her eyes.
Only to see the mage, who she believed to be dead, still standing tall and fine.
"What?"
The situation did not make much sense but the mage had somehow survived. In fact, the creature that had cast the skill was the one kneeling down right now.
"What's… going on?"
She did not understand what was going on but the creature's skill had obviously failed. Not only that, but with his new spell, Brian had also managed to cut off the legs of the creature.
He did not waste much time on it either and, with the same spell that had cut off the creature's legs, he chopped off the (Blue) ranked creature's head as well, making the death of this deadly creature seem anticlimactic.
"...?"
"Did we just… win?"
Most did not understand what had just happened. The others were still stunned to see the death of the creature.
The area around them was not too damaged either. The spells had not directly affected the nature around them.
This was actually strange.
But at the same time, all of the party members were relieved.
The threat was gone for the time being.
They could move forward with all of their members alive, and with the head of a (Blue) ranked mutant creature as a trophy for this journey… that, just like many other journeys happening around the world, was not going to be as simple as they might have originally hoped for.
