Isekai Adventure in the Dimensional Cube-Chapter 1505 - 1054: The Semi-Immortal Monster
"Swoosh——"
The middle of the night in a forest, before an endless barrier.
As a faint sound of something cutting through the air echoed, the deep darkness wandering within the forest suddenly shot towards Reiger like a sharp arrow.
Its speed was fast, or rather, eerie, as if it could twist its own position, giving the impression of being near and far at the same time.
When it shot forward, the target might think it was still some distance away, when in reality it was already right in front of the target.
Even Reiger was disrupted by this mysterious speed, causing the entity to close the distance.
Fortunately, when it was about to penetrate Reiger’s body, Reiger’s invulnerability activated.
"Buzz!"
In the imperceptible buzzing, the space in front of Reiger was interfered with by a technique, causing the attacker’s speed to slow down drastically and eventually stop about five inches in front of Reiger.
"[Azure]."
Only then did Reiger abruptly extend his hand, a flash of blue light appeared in his hand, instantly capturing the attacker in an irresistible gravitational pull, as if an invisible giant hand had yanked it away, dragging it to the side.
"Boom!"
The darkness deeper than night was uncontrollably slammed into a tree, not only knocking it down but continuing to shoot outwards, shattering the ground.
Dust flew up, the booming noise startling countless birds into fleeing the night in panic.
"Who?"
Reiger spoke calmly, questioning the attacker.
Unfortunately, all he got in response was silence, shattering the calm on his face.
"Gurgle..."
Amidst the flying dust, accompanied by a strange noise similar to boiling water, the attacker revealed its true form in front of Reiger.
It was truly just a formless darkness.
Unlike Abyssal Aura, which appears mist-like, nor like a shadow with a defined shape, it was more akin to a blob of black water, continuously flowing, giving a very unstable and viscous feeling.
"What is that?"
Seeing the blob of black water, the calmness on Reiger’s face vanished, replaced by shock.
Conversely, Beluti, hiding behind Reiger, widened her eyes immediately upon seeing the black water.
"Could that be... a Night Spirit?"
Beluti exclaimed.
"Night Spirit?" Reiger looked back at Beluti, asking, "What is a Night Spirit? Is it an Abyssal creature?"
"No..." Beluti shook her head and said, "A Night Spirit is not an Abyssal creature, but a monster."
"Monster?" Reiger said in surprise, "This thing is actually a monster?"
"Yes." Beluti nodded, saying, "It is an extremely rare monster that only births in filth, without a specific form, without obvious biological characteristics. If one were to describe it, it might be considered a very advanced slime."
"This extremely rare monster typically only appears in places filled with filth, like ancient battlefields that experienced massive bloodshed, slaughterhouses, or towns plagued by large-scale infections."
"It behaves malevolently, not needing to feed or sustain itself, but enjoys attacking weak creatures, delighting in cruelly tormenting them to death."
"Why would such a malevolent monster appear here?"
Beluti felt quite puzzled.
Although across from Narnilja is the territory of a once-destroyed "empire," where countless bloody events indeed transpired, a place truly filled with filth, this side of Narnilja is the reserve area for the source’s various life races. Normally, even regular monsters rarely appear, and animals do not inhabit such a place filled with strong ones, making it mostly peaceful despite military towns spread throughout.
Quayles and the sentinels from various races, forces, and countries stationed here exist to watch over Narnilja and prevent it from being maliciously sabotaged by Abyssal cultists; hence bloodshed incidents generally don’t occur without cause.
Though this is the frontline against the Abyss, the truly brutal side is on the other side of Narnilja in the Black Land. Generally, the reserve side remains quite peaceful.
This kind of environment condition inherently wouldn’t foster a malevolent Night Spirit nor attract its arrival.
While Beluti pondered in confusion, little did she know Reiger had instinctively touched the Mana Treasure Bead he carried.
He vaguely remembered when he used identification magic to gather information on the Mana Treasure Bead, the feedback included the note:
"Note: This item has been imbued with mysterious power; carrying it in specific locations greatly increases the likelihood of attracting high-risk malevolent entities."
Back then, Reiger wondered what this so-called high-risk malevolent entity would be.
Now, the answer seemed to have emerged.
"Gurgle..."
As the dust settled, the irregularly squirming black water suddenly surged upwards, with a swoosh, once again attacking Reiger.
"[Scarlet]."
Without thinking, Reiger pointed with his fingers joined, shooting a nearly point-blank [Scarlet] at the charging Night Spirit.
"Boom!"
A deafening sound appeared, as the red dot fired from Reiger’s fingertips shattered the attacking Night Spirit on impact, causing the irregular black water to explode on the spot.
Yet, the Night Spirit, exploded in midair, maintained its scattered state, transforming into countless droplets, continuing to shoot toward Reiger.
"Buzz!"
The inviolability surrounding Reiger was triggered once again, with countless black water droplets halting before him, unable to advance even an inch.
"[Azure]."
Reiger frowned slightly, his two joined fingers not retracting but instead pointing to the sky, launching [Azure] upwards.
Instantly, a blue whirlpool formed mid-air, an astonishing gravitational force pulling the black water droplets into the whirlpool suspended in the sky.
The black water columns struggled desperately, yet were still sucked into the blue whirlpool, as if absorbed by a blue-black hole, leaving not a single drop behind in no time.
Within the whirlpool, a powerful attractive force continued to act, constantly pulling, tearing, and shredding the black water droplets.
Even so, the black water droplets struggled defiantly, soon coalescing within the whirlpool, transforming once more into a mass of black water, spreading to corrode the entire whirlpool.
Exactly.
The night spirit was corroding Reiger’s [Azure].
Under its corrosion, the blue whirlpool gradually turned black, exerting gravitational force on Reiger, attempting to draw him skyward as well.
"Is that even possible?"
Reiger was quite astonished.
"Ah!"
At this moment, Beluti let out another gasp.
Reiger could resist the pull of [Azure], but the powerless Beluti lacked such ability. Under the attraction of the black [Azure], she began to lift off the ground as though caught in a whirlwind, about to be swept into the sky.
At the critical moment, it was Reiger who reached out, grabbing Beluti, preventing her from being drawn into the black [Azure].
"Your Excellency!"
Beluti maintained a posture of floating mid-air, her legs being pulled towards [Azure], while her hand was steadily grasped by Reiger, who stood firmly on the ground, shouting towards him.
"The night spirit is a semi-immortal creature without physical form. Neither physical attacks nor magic attacks are effective against it. It is highly aggressive, and once it corrodes a living or non-living entity, it seizes control as if parasitizing it!"
Upon hearing this, Reiger rolled his eyes.
"I can see that."
Despite saying so, Reiger was still quite surprised at heart.
A semi-immortal creature, this type of creature was unheard of, even for Reiger, who had ventured across many worlds.
Neither physical attacks nor magic attacks are effective against it, and with a strong aggression that allows it to parasitize both living and non-living entities, seizing control over its host. How could they possibly defeat such a bug-like creature?
While contemplating, Reiger did not slow his actions.
"[Crimson]."
Reiger used his free hand to shoot [Crimson] into the air.
The crimson [Crimson] was like a flash, striking the whirlwind formed by the black [Azure], colliding with it.
The collision between the two could only lead to one result.
That was an intersection, a fusion, eventually forming a hypothetical mass that cuts through space — [Mauve].
Thus, the black [Azure] and the crimson [Crimson] merged, unleashing an incredible force.
"Boom!"
An invisible storm erupted from their point of convergence, causing a thunderous roar and slicing through space, distorting the atmosphere, creating a gaping hole in the sky, displaying a shattered scene.
"Splash——"
A black rain poured down, soaking the ground swiftly.
Reiger immediately held Beluti, leaping backwards out of the range of the downpour, avoiding being drenched in the black rain.
"Is it dead?"
Gazing at the ground gradually soaked by black rain, Reiger squinted his eyes.
"Your, Your Excellency..."
Suddenly, a timid voice sounded within Reiger’s arms.
"Your, Your hand..."
The timid voice of a girl reached Reiger’s ears.
Reiger was first startled, then realized that the hand he held around the girl’s body seemed to have grasped something quite extraordinary, very soft...
"...Sorry."
Reiger inconspicuously moved his hand away, silently chanting in his heart.
"Who would have thought, this Holy Lady has quite the figure."
This tactile sensation, this scale, was nearly rivaling Liz’s.
Just as Reiger was quietly making comparisons in his mind, the ground soaked by black rain suddenly started to tremble.
The next moment, the ground started to bulge upward.
