Isekai Adventure in the Dimensional Cube-Chapter 1462 - 1028: You Really Had a Hard Time, Assassin
When the two most powerful forces of the abyss, darkness and flames, fuse together, the Abyss Demon Fire is born.
It is the nemesis of life.
It is the hellfire that incinerates everything.
Once it touches you, it clings like a festering sore, impossible to extinguish, impossible to shake off, and you can only watch helplessly as you are consumed entirely.
This is the most terrifying flame in the abyss, a power most beloved by abyssal creatures, and to the beings of the Source World, it is undoubtedly something to be feared.
Even Naisa, who is confident in her magical defense, dares not let it come near, let alone withstand it head-on.
If one chooses to confront it directly, it’s unknown whether even those at the gemstone rank, revered as sages, can remain unscathed.
Thus, when Reiger instead advanced towards the jet of black flame, everyone was astounded.
However, what happened next made them widen their eyes in shock.
"Boom!"
Reiger, facing the jet of black flame, was not consumed and burned, but instead walked leisurely ahead, causing the flames to part automatically.
Like waves crashing against a stubborn rock, the black flames separated whenever they approached Reiger, as if striking an invisible barrier, flowing past him on both sides.
Reiger even stretched out his hand, waving it like swatting at flies, and all flames approaching within a certain distance of his palm scattered.
"The weather isn’t particularly cold today; I don’t really need any warming."
Reiger calmly spoke immediately after.
"Even if I did need it, it seems this temperature couldn’t even serve to warm me."
"Lacking even the most basic value, yet making itself all black..."
"Isn’t it too showy?"
Despite Reiger’s tranquil tone lacking any hint of insult, anyone listening could tell the words were highly insulting, though not lethal.
"Clap clap clap..."
Darkness began to applaud, its hooded face somber, but its speaking tone equally calm.
"As expected of the savior the Source has awaited for eleven thousand years, even the Abyss Demon Fire is beneath your notice. It seems I underestimated you."
In truth, Darkness hadn’t anticipated Reiger’s capabilities.
Not just him, but even Naisa and Melo wore expressions of astonishment, clearly not expecting such prowess from Reiger.
Truthfully, in their view, Reiger still needed to grow; currently, he wasn’t equipped to face formidable foes, still needing protection.
This was primarily due to preconceived notions.
Historically, whether it was the first savior Moslo Reinnaier or the descendants of the Reinnaier clan, when they first arrived at the Source, their powers were generally not strong.
This was naturally expected.
Why did the Reinnaier clan undertake Dimensional Travel?
To enter the Source World for training and to seek opportunities to strengthen themselves.
Like Reiger and the original savior, their initial purpose for Dimensional Travel was to grow strong and gain the rapid growth forces. The initial intent of Reinnaier clan descendants for Dimensional Travel undeniably followed this same path.
This naturally leads to an impression among Source’s people that the saviors during their first arrival are generally not strong, needing time and opportunity for growth as beings of immense potential.
Regrettably, Reiger is an exception.
"You... you bastard...!"
Kermo, struggling out of the rubble, gazed at the high and mighty Reiger who oversaw the area, not even sparing Kermo a glance. Filled with humiliation, Kermo’s indignation transformed into furious rage, causing him to lose his sanity.
"I’ll kill you...!"
The assassin’s pride having been mercilessly disregarded, Kermo charged at Reiger again without a second thought.
His speed was swift, but not merely fast; it was incredibly eerie, giving the impression of teleporting, appearing suddenly at a distance in the blink of an eye.
Due to his unique mental abilities, it caused others to perceive his location erroneously.
Under actions capable of disrupting others’ mental perceptions, Kermo seemed to appear out of thin air, and by the time others reacted, he was already lunging at Reiger, thrusting the dagger like fangs at Reiger’s eye.
But the closer the dagger’s tip got to Reiger’s eyeball, the slower it moved, until it stopped as if blocked by an invisible wall, unable to advance even a fraction.
"Swish!""Swish!""Swish!""Swish!""Swish!"...
Kermo turned frantic, his figure flashing quickly around Reiger, each time appearing to stab at a vital location, bent on killing Reiger by the cruelest means.
The first was the eye, next followed by the back of the head, heart, throat, temples, brow, abdomen, even the crotch was targeted, repeatedly met with dagger strikes like fangs.
No matter how aggressive Kermo’s attacks were, how vicious his moves, or how insidious and lethal the locations he chose, every single attack stopped at a certain distance from Reiger.
"Why? Why can’t I hit you?"
Kermo roared.
"What magic are you using?"
Not only Kermo wanted to ask this, but Darkness at the Dark Relief Center, including Naisa and Melo, all wanted to know.
They watched as Kermo’s attacks failed to touch Reiger, Reiger standing motionless without being touched. Each wore an expression of puzzled disbelief.
"Magic?"
Reiger spoke indifferently to Kermo.
"Regardless of the magic I use, with your ability, you won’t be able to touch me."
"Even if I stood here without moving, letting you try to kill me, you wouldn’t succeed."
"Give up; this is the extent of your skills."
Kermo clearly couldn’t bear such provocation, growing increasingly frantic.
In response, Reiger lightly raised his hand. Suddenly appearing in front of him, Kermo’s dagger came to a halt at his palm, unable to touch even his hand.
Then Reiger extended a finger, its tip pressing onto Kermo’s dagger.
"Between my finger and your dagger seems infinitely close, but in reality, it’s the opposite."
"In anyone’s eyes, this supposed distance of only a few centimeters is actually... infinite."
"This infinite distance can’t be narrowed even slightly by an assassin like you."
Reiger’s face broke into a steady smile.
"You have my sympathy, assassin." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
With that, red light suddenly flashed from Reiger’s fingertip pressing on the dagger’s tip.
"Boom!!!"
Before Kermo could react, a thunderous explosion resounded, causing the entire manor to shudder.
"Aaaah...!"
Hit by the laser-like red light, Kermo could only let out a pained scream before being swept away by storm-like shockwaves, carried by a terrifying force, vanishing from the manor’s grounds, disappearing entirely from view.
Those with sharper vision saw within the red light, Kermo’s entire being torn and repelled by invisible forces, his whole body twisting, distorting, shattering, damaged and bloodsoaked in moments.
Those witnessing this were unanimously certain and silently declared in their minds.
"Kermo... it’s over."
Kermo would ultimately be torn apart by the incredible repelling force, akin to being pulled to pieces, dying in an explosion.
This infamous assassin, having roamed free for decades, met his end here in the hands of a newcomer to this alternate world who had arrived only a few days ago.
